I found Bella Vita Penne so I decided to give it a try despite not liking previous low carb pastas [by Darielle & Keto]. This was not bad at all. Although it didn't have the true consistency of real pasta, Bella Vita's is not as "cardboardy" as the others. With the right sauce, it does very well. Still at 2.19/box for only 12 oz, it's still so much more money than the real thing. Oh well.

Tastes just like regular whole wheat pasta!

|
Cons:

I could only find it in penne

I couldn't believe how great this tasted after having all the other low carb pastas. It wasn't hard at all. I made penne alfredo and it was the best meal we've had in awhile!

This stuff is "off the hook". It does lack that lovely, starchy flavor that we crave in a pasta, but this is as close as anyone has gotten to the real thing!!! I highly recommend this.
In the Chicago area, L/C livin' is huge, and all the grocery stores are starting to fill their shelves with these and other great L/C products. This product being one of them. If it is available in your area, the Carb Options BBQ sauce by Lawry's is fantastic!!! I mean it!!!
We are starting to claim our place in the mainstream folks; enjoy!!!

I made up a cheese sauce, added it to the cooked penne, threw in some more grated cheese, baked it, and got a pretty good tasting macaroni and cheese. In fact, I was very disappointed to find my store was out of this product a week later and my disappointment continued for 3 weeks.
I finally found Bella Vista on the store shelf but it was the twisty, corkscrew variety. No problem, the ingredients were the same, right? NOT! It was a problem because the cooked product did not turn out the same. The texture was coarser and the flavor seemed not so mild.
I would buy the penne again, in a heartbeat! But the twisty I do not care for.

I found this in Cost Plus imports. I was quite excited to try it after reading the reviews here. Unfortunately, it is awful, it smells awful while cooking and it tastes nothing like real pasta. Oh well. The sauce is very good though.

I also tried this product after being very disappointed with other pasta products. I boiled the pasta for at least 20 minutes and it still didn't get soft. Couldn't get past the texture to even comment on the taste.

Texture

Yechhh. I'm sitting here with an unfinished bowl of the stuff in front of me now. If this is better than other low-carb pastas, I have no desire to try them. The taste isn't bad (how could it be, there isn't any) but the texture is like a dried-out rubber band that's been stuck in the back of a desk drawer for 30 years. To be fair, I ate it just with butter, grated cheese, and salt (that's heavenly for regular pasta). If you had a thick, wet sauce, this pasta would probably be a lot more edible. Still, I don't know why anyone would bother - a plate of real vegetables and some roast chicken would be much more delicious.

This was great. If want pasta but are on a low carb diet, then this brand is for you. I enjoyed have a small amout with my chicken with a dollop of my homemade pasta sauce I make my hubby. The price is expensive for pasta. When I purchase pasta for my hubby i can get it on sale for 3 for $1 and you will never see this brand that cheap...ever! Enjoy.

I got this on sale at Big Lots for 40 cents...that right there should have told me that it wasn't selling in the regular stores. I didn't care for it. Tasted too much like cardboard. I wouldn't recommend it.

Same thing everyone else is saying. Tastes like CARDBOARD! Actually, cardboard probably tastes better than this stuff! This rates as THE WORST LC Pasta I've ever tasted! A waste of $0.79! :P YUCK!

I give it a 5 because it is edible. The first time I made it, I really didn't like it at all. Then I tried the Keto brand and ewwwww!! So I tried this brand again and it got better (probably just cuz I wanted pasta so bad). I cooked it a bit longer and used it for spaghetti and it was okay.
The only kind I have found is the penne and I lucked out and got it 2/$1 at the Dollar Tree.
I can eat it and the carbs are low, so if I am craving pasta, at least it is something. It's a bit chewier than other pasta, but it doesn't have an aftertaste.
