Description: Erythritol is a polyol (sugar alcohol) which is very popular for use in baking and as a general sweetener in low carb diets.

Erythritol is a white crystalline powder that is odorless, with a clean sweet taste that is similar to sucrose. It is approximately 70% as sweet as sucrose and flows easily due to its non-hygroscopic character. Like other polyols, erythritol does not promote tooth decay and is safe for people with diabetes.

Pros: combined with Splenda, tastes just like sugar
Cons: expensive, not available locally

I use this in baking all the time. If a recipe calls for one cup of sugar, try 1/4 cup of Erythritol and 1/2 cup of Splenda. To me, that's just right sweetwise, and the two sweeteners combine well with very little aftertaste.

This stuff is magic. It's expensive but worth it. I get a bag or two pretty much every time I order from Netrition.

Pros: good sweetening flavor
Cons: is still a sugar alcohol with the same problems as maltitol

I do have this product and have used it but... it mostly just sits on the shelf. We just can't use any sugar alcohol!

Pros:
Cons:

I bought my first bag and used it in brownies. I mixed it with Splenda and powderd stevia. There seemed to be no belly problems. But it is very grainy. I'm thinking about putting it thru my coffee grinder the to make it finer. I even tried melting it down with chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Didn't work. The cooling effect is unbelievable. I have used Xylitol for a few years and the taste is very different. Xylitol is more like sugar. There is no cooling effect with Xylitol compared to Erythritol. I believe everyone should use it, just find the mix that is right.

Pros:
Cons:

It has more of "real" sugar texture than splenda. It is very sweet though. You CAN'T measure it cup for cup with sugar! When I use it, I mix it with splenda.

Pros:
Cons: cooling effect

I was so happy when I bought this and then when I tried it YUCK!!!. It has the worst cooling effect. Didn't know what people were talking about when I first heard about the cooling effect. The sugar cookie itself was warm when I began to eat it and then as soon as I began eating it it felt like the cookie had turned ice cold. Scary.

Pros: I add a pinch of stevia powder and sucaryl, I can't believe it's not sugar.
Cons: I have no negative report. I use the product often.

I use a combination of this and sucaryl in all my baking, including bread and cakes. I would be lost without!
