This was very easy to make. The biscuit was a bit tough (common with low carb products). But was also a bit too greasy for my tastes

The biscuits were easy to make and came out of the oven looking pretty tasty. I couldn't wait to take a bite, but was pretty disappointed in the taste and texture. It had a bit of that funky soy taste. I smothered mine with some sausage gravy and it was pretty good. My husband tried his with a sausage patty and cheese and later tried it with low carb strawberry jam. He said it was pretty decent. Bottom line, you have to "cover up" the taste of these with something else for them to be edible!

They look like hocky pucks when done, not a bicuit. Very greasy too. When they're hot a lot of butter helps.

Used this product to improvise a pumpkin scone recipe (had leftover pumpkin from a soup recipe). Worked quite well, as added 1 cup canned pumpkin, 1/2 cup oats, and spices (cinnamon and nutmeg). Reheated well 2nd and 3rd day.

The first time I made them according to directions, definitly not good when made larger. I decided to try them smaller about cookie size and they tasted okay with some butter and sugar-free jam.

Labeling Problem

I'll post a review soon, but for now I have a comment about the Nutrition Facts Label. This is not for the product itself, but for the "completed product as made"....6 biscuits require 2 whole eggs, 4 TBS Butter, 2/3 Cup of Cream and 1/3 Cup Oil. It says that one complete biscuit should be 255 calories, but my analysis (and my computer's) put that at 100 calories higher (I believe it was 358 using heavy cream). Light cream would save a few calories. Based on the reviews that said these were too oily anyway, I'm going to try to cut back on the oil, but who would want to eat a small biscuit that has 358 calories in it (and that's before butter, gravy or jam!!)? No wonder Canned Foods Outlet had them on sale for 99 cents--along with several other things, such as their chocolate cake mix (too dense but acceptable in taste), apple muffins (haven't tried them yet) and the pizza dough (also too dense and too difficult to work with, but the taste after putting on a lot of topping was passable). I bought at least a dozen of these various boxes thinking it was a bargain. My mission is now to see if I can play with that biscuit mix using some different ingredients to see if I can make it work AND have no more than the 255 calories shown on the box--even fewer if possible, but it'll take some work. I'll come back and visit when I have some success (or total failure)......

I wrote a review yesterday about the incorrect nutrition label that had me aghast, coming out to over 350 cal/biscuit. So I revised and tested the recipe as follows: kept ingredients as shown (butter, eggs and cream) except that I omitted ALL of the vegetable oil and replaced it 100% with 1/3 Cup of Z-Trim Gel. This is a great product that you can buy online that is used in some commercial brands of Ice Cream as a fat substitute. Normally you shouldn't substitute 1:1, but in this recipe, with all of the other oil from the Butter and Cream, I decided to try it, and was so happy that I did! My second change was to make 8 biscuits from the recipe instead of 6, and this was also a plus...the size seemed perfect for me. I use a convection oven and cooked the recipe for 14 minutes. Generally this means that you would probably still need to cook it for close to 20 minutes in a regular oven as per the recipe, despite the slightly smaller biscuit size--keep a close eye on them after 15 minutes--you can always put them back in if you need to, but an overcooked biscuit is never a good thing. One biscuit was a perfect accompaniment to my meal (because of the calories saved I was even able to put a pat of butter on it). Here are the revised values (per biscuit), making and 8 biscuit batch (using the 6 biscuit recipe) with Z-Trim: 170 Calories, 3.47 G Protein, 13.59 G fat, 3.47 G Carb, 2.01 G Fiber (mostly from the Z-trim), 1.46 Net Carbs.

I used it to flour coat pork chops and oven fried them. I did add spices and a pack of dry ranch dressing. Was really, really good and I could not tell it was a soy product at all! Finally, a use for this product that is edible! Plan to try it with chicken and as a coating for fried fish. The mix held onto the chops very well with no egg.

This mix was awful. These "biscuits" were very greasy and rubbery, nothing like a biscuit at all, even by low-carb standards. The texture was also hard to get past.
