Pros:
no soy flavor, good texture for biscuits
Cons:
flavor, texture tasted like biscuits even when making pancakes
made muffins and pancakes from directions on the box. muffins came out good, but i should have added more Splenda, they weren't sweet enough for my taste. Pancakes had good flavor, but again, should have added some Splenda, had more the flavor of biscuits than pancakes. With everything being considered, this is a wonderful bake mix, without the flavor of soy (UGH) and even though it is expensive, I will probably buy it again. Box is not large enough for much baking but maybe if it gets a good following they will mark the price down and make the amount in box larger. Also, wish they had included some cookie directions or cake. Also wish this was listed under the name Carbquik so i could have found it when looking instead of the name "Tova Carbquik" If I hadn't gone through the whole list, I'd have never found it. [y]

easy, good taste

Cons:

slightly sweet biscuity taste can be a bit limiting

I've used this for many, many things. Especially great in "Impossible Pie" recipes. I love that I can have biscuits and gravy again. However not crazy about it as pizza crust due to it's biscuity flavor. See the threads on the board.

Everything I have made with it has a nice texture.

Cons:

It has an odd taste. I only use this in recipes where very little Carbquik is needed or where I'm using strong spices which will cover the taste.

Pros:

best taste/texture of any LC baking product on market
Cons:

hard to find/Kroger here is always OUT of it. Ordered online this time!
I've been on an LC lifestyle --most of the time--since 1976 and have missed having a baking and coating mix that is anything like the "real thing". This is like heaven to me!
I just hope that I don't find out later that it was too good to be true!

I absolutely love this product. I've made dozens of recipes - all with great success. If I stopped LC'ing tomorrow, I'd continue to purchase this product. I usually buy 3 - 3lb. boxes per order and use about 1 box a month. The BB here has an excellent thread for tweaking recipes. Can't say enough about this one.

Taste and variety of uses

Cons:

Have to buy it via internet
It's important to use no added salt or salted butter in the recipes. Otherwise, it's fantastic. I use it for impossible pies, cookies, cakes, pancakes, and anything else I can think of. I have learned to taste the batter and usually end up adding more Splenda than the recipe calls for too.

Fantastic product! A God-send! You can make sweet or savory recipes with this. I use it to coat chicken and fish and it gives them a crunchy, breaded type texture which is easy to miss on this way of life.
If this brand ever goes out of business, I will literally CRY!
If you haven't tried it yet, please do. You will be glad you did. Try the many recipes on the LowCarbFriends "recipe help and suggestions" board. There is a sticky thread up top about CarbQuik. It is amazing!!!!

I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Everything that I have made using Carbquik has turned out
fantastic. Of course, when I first started using it, I had to tweek a few recipes, but now that I have learned how to use it, I am very happy with the results. I wouldn't want to be without it. I make muffins that I eat everyday and they turn out great!! I'm really thankful to have found something so wonderful because as a diabetic, I have to watch my carb count very carefully. Carbquik adds the eating pleasure back into my life. Thank you for such a great product!!

best low carb bake mix available

Cons:

is just a bit to salty tasting
I love this product. It's become my most used baking mix even though I still have many others to use up. The only draw back is the salty taste in sweet recipes. I counter that by upping the sweeteners.

Pros:

Decent substitute for Bisquick
Cons:
Distinctive flavor not my favorite. Price.
Carbquick seems to be interchangeable with pretty much anything you for which you would use Bisquick. I was never a big fan of Bisquick, but I'd much rather use Carbquick for the convenience as opposed to stocking all those odd ingredients in my cupboards.
The taste is very distinctive and difficult to disguise in recipes, but if you don't mind it, it's a great product.
I mostly make the cheddar bisquits which my husband loves to use for egg, canadian bacon, and cheese biscuits.
I will continue to buy and use it.
Oh yeah! My kids like it too!

I've been very pleased with the recipes I've tried using Carbquik. I always check the threads that have to do with using it and incorporate the changes people make to improve on it - i.e., for the biscuits, I double the butter called for - and cut out the salt entirely. YUM YUM!
I like to make a "breading" using half Carbquik and half Atkins Corn Muffin Mix, dry - makes for great fried catfish or fried chicken!

I love this product and hope that it never ever gets discontinued! Pull out your old Bisquick recipe books -- so far, everything I've tried has "translated" perfectly. Use unsalted butter and don't add salt (even when it's called for!). Great biscuits, dredge, cookies, muffins, pancakes etc. etc. etc.

I have been using carbquik for a long time ( at least 1 1/2 years as of Jan 2006) and I will agree it has a strange taste. If your recipe has strong flavors it may hide it (The cheddar-bay biscuits are decent because of the garlic taste) but if you're going to try a baked good (such as a cake or pie) which relys on the flour-y flavor, then you may be dissapointed. A+ on texture, C- on taste.

I am one that HATES Carbquik and everything I've tried it in goes in the trash. No matter how little I use in something, it's taste overpowers the entire recipe. YUCK.

Delightful Surprise!
Cons:
Just learning to use it-
I really like this and am only sorry I didn't buy the 5-lb. box! My first recipe was the Monte Cristo Sandwhich-that was excellent!! Although it didn't quite taste like bread (more like a light biscuit) it was great. I thought that my bread days were over! I can totaly live happy and free low-carbing it as a lifestyle, knowing that this product will be there.
I made pancakes over the weekend, and they seemed kind of thick, so I had to keep adding 1/2 and 1/2 (about 1/3 cup) until they were thin enough to ladle on the griddle. Also, I was not enthusiastic about adding a stick of butter to the recipe. At least the pancakes didn't need any additional butter when they were served, but would like to see less butter and just a little more "fluff".
I am looking forward to trying more recipes!
