Description: Old fashioned steel-cut oats in the distinctive old-style tin. The oat groat is cut to enhance the flavour of the Irish Oat. The distinctive hearty, chewy texture of steel cuts makes them a favorite.

Oatmeal is the only food that naturally contains GLA (gamma linolenic acid) an essential fatty acid critical to the body's production of the favorable eicosanoids (PGE1 - prostaglandins). Eating steel-cut oats (very slow cooking) four times a week will provide you with a good supply of GLA.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

I was surprised when I first tasted this oatmeal as I expected the same consistency as Quaker Oats. But Steel's oats are cut, not rolled. The pieces of oat are cut into very small pieces so they cook up into a creamy, smooth texture, not the rough texture I was used to and which I prefer. However, the flavor is virtually the same as cooked rolled oats.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

Very delicious oatmeal. Whole grain because it is minimally processed. I found it had kind of a chewy texture. Takes longer to cook than Quaker oats but I find I can do a single bowl in seven minutes in the microwave. Good source of fiber.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): I like it. Healthy, delicious.
Cons: need a bigger can..lol--it seems to make me hungry, though

I love the little tin that it came in. The first time I cooked it, I had problems, but that was my fault. The second time, I got it down to a science. I really like this, but I stayed hungry all day after eating it. ?
