Description:
|
The mayonnaise/Miracle Whip subject came up again this week. Though I understand there is a recipe here for Miracle Whip-type salad dressing, it didn't come up in my search -- so I found it elsewhere and here it is.
|
|
Ingredients:
|
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
5 tsp white vinegar
4 pkt Splenda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp lemon juice
1 cup vegetable or corn oil
pinch paprika
pinch garlic powder
|
|
How To Prepare:
|
Combine the vinegar, sugar, salt and lemon juice in a small bowl and stir until dissolved.
Beat egg yolk with whisk for about 15 seconds; add half vinegar solution and whisk for another 15 seconds.
Put oil into a container that you can control with one hand -- you have to be able to add oil slowly while beating mixture at the same time. Add oil slowly a bit at a time, contstantly beating egg mixture, until about half of the oil has been added. Keep beating!
Beat in the remaining vinegar solution and spices (mustard, paprika and garlic powder). Add remaining oil while beating.
Stores in fridge for a week to ten days.
I haven't tried this with my food processor yet, but I think that would be a lot easier than all that beating. :-)
