Description:
|
Hearty mac & cheese dish. Can be used as a main course or a side dish. I was craving mac & cheese with ham, but had no idea how to make it. I am very please with the results of my experiment. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
|
1/2 lb Dreamfields Elbow Macaroni
1lb Cubed, Cooked Ham
8oz Shredded Montery Jack
8oz Shredded Cheddar
1/2C Heavy Cream
1/2C Water
2-4T Butter-non salted is best
1/4 - 1/2C Chopped Onion
1T Minced Garlic
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
Paprika
|
|
How To Prepare:
|
-Spray Casserol Dish with Pam
-Turn oven to 350 degrees
-Boil water and cook the Pasta for 8 minutes. Drain. (Do not add salt to the water. The ham and cheese add plenty of salt to this dish)
Meanwhile...
-Brown Ham in 1-2T butter. Set aside.
-Saute Onion & Garlic in 1-2T butter
-When onions turn clear, add water and heavy cream, slowly. Heat through on low heat.
-Just before liquid starts to boil, add Cheddar Cheese, Monteray Jack Cheese and pinch of Cayenne pepper.
-Melt (It kind of turns into a ball. That is ok)
-Add Ham and Drained macaroni. Mix together.
-Turn mixture out into casserole dish (make sure you have sprayed w/Pam) and sprinkle top with Paprika
-Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes. Check after 30 minutes. When top is desired brown-ness, take out of oven and let rest at least 15-20 minutes.
