Description:
|
The trick to these tasting like the kind your mom would make is to make VERY THIN patties w/ the ground beef.
|
|
Ingredients:
|
1/2 lb FRESH ground beef; I prefer lean for this recipe (or Ground Sirloin)
1 tsp Sea Salt
1/2 tsp Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp Chili powder
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/2 tsp coarse ground pepper
-
3 med/large mushrooms, sliced
1/8 med yellow onion, sliced (not diced)
4 cloves garlic, smashed (no need to chop)
-
GRAVY:
Pan drippings
1/3 c. Beef broth (I use Ralph's brand Beef broth)
Thick-n-thin NOT STARCH thickener (or other xantham gum-based thickener you prefer)
|
|
How To Prepare:
|
In a mixing bowl combine all top ingredients until thoroughly mixed, shape into (2) thin patties.
Get some EVOO fairly hot in a skillet and start cooking the patties. About halfway through add the mushrooms, garlic and onions.
Continue cooking patties til well done but not "fried"
Remove all ingredients from pan, leaving behind drippings only. Try to set aside the veggies from the meat as they will go back into the gravy.
On med-low heat, add the beef broth and mix well into the pan w/ a whisk, "whisking" around the drippings.
Add about 1/2 tsp of the thickener, whisking in thoroughly. Allow to thicken by letting cook, then whisking (only takes a few mins).
Add the veggies into the gravy, mix well, then serve over top of the patties.
I serve this easy dish w/ my roasted asparagus. Yummm!!
