This is a recipe for old fashioned custard that I have converted. It is a very tender custard and is delicious topped with berries or nuts. And if you're feeling down, this will pick you up
2 egg whites
2 cups whipping cream
1 cup water
1/2 cup splenda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
nutmeg to garnish
How To Prepare:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Put a pan with 1 inch of hot water into the oven.
Butter a medium casserole or 8 ramekins. Heat cream and water until just about boiling.
Mix egg whites and eggs together and add splenda and salt. Mix well. When cream is hot, pour into egg mixture in a steady stream, stirring as you do this. Then add vanilla. Pour mixture through a strainer into casserole or ramekins. Dust with nutmeg if desired. Put dish/ramekins into pan of hot water in the oven and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Cool. If you're not on induction, you can top with 1/2 cup of berries (fresh or frozen) or some toasted nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds or macadamia)
