Ingredients: 10 slices better tasting
protein bread -- (1 loaf)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 each salt -- to taste
How To Prepare: Preheat oven to 300f. Spray
a cookie sheet with cooking
flavor is fine if you want a
slight garlic taste).
Slice loaf into desired
thickenss of melba toast or
croutons. If making
croutons -then cut into
cubes of desired size.
Place in a bowl and toss
with olive oil and salt. Make
sure to coat all
pieces lightly. You can omit
the olive oil and: place in a
single layer
on cookie sheet and spray
with cooking spray -sprinkle
lightly with salt -then
turn over and repeat. Once
coated, place in a single
layer on cookie sheet and
bake for about
30 minutes or until they
start to brown(watch
carefully- they can go from
lightly browning to burnt
fast). Turn off oven and
leave the door
slightly ajar and let the
bread sit in the cooling oven
to dry for 1 hour.
Once dried, allow to cool
completely. At this point, if
you made melba
toast or croutons, just bag
well and refrigerate. For
crumbs, put in a food
processor and pulse until
desired fineness is
reached. You can sprinkle
in some dried herbs at this
point to make seasoned
