Put diced celery, onion and bacon into large stockpot. Cook on medium heat until celery and onion semi soft and bacon done but not crisp. Add diced rutabaga and cook for two minutes. Add chicken stock, clams with juice and half and half. Bring to a boil and lower heat to a simmer for 45 minutes (stir occasionally). Add thickenthin and cook for an additional 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
