1 pound extra lean ground beef or turkey
8 oz mozzarella
1/4 c. grated parmesan
1/2 c. tomato sauce
1 tbsp fresh crushed garlic
2 tbsp fresh chopped oregano
2 tbsp fresh chopped basil
1/2 c. coarsely chopped onion
1/2 c. coarsely chopped bell pepper
additional toppings can include grilled chicken, pepperoni, sausage, ham, veggies and any other low carb faves.
How To Prepare:
Spread meat evenly in a shallow pizza pan about 1/2 inch thick. Prick holes in it, season with salt & pepper and put in oven at 350 until most of the pink is gone. (note: unless you use ground turkey or chicken, the meat will probably shrink considerably). Remove from oven. Drain excess grease and pat the meat dry. Spread tomato sauce evenly over meat. Top with garlic, herbs, salt & pepper. Then add meat and veggie toppings and cheese. Return to oven and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the meat crust is well done. Slice and serve!
