Description:

Ingredient Quantity
Almond Butter 3 tbsp
Almond Milk 1 cup
cinammon 1 tsp
vanilla 4-5 drops
liquid splenda 2 drops
ice 1 cup
protein powder 1 scoop
This is a low carb protein shake recipe to replace the high carb protein shakes I used to make in the past. It is also a tasty treat! Based on a 2,000 calorie diet and 20 carbs max/day, this keeps you right under the limit.
Almond milk is probably optional - you can substitute water or low carb milk of your choice. It may be less smooth with pure water. Subtract 1 carb, 1g of protein and 40 calories.
You can, of course, sub any protein powder you have on hand, but most others contain at least 1 carb. You could also sub or add flax, oat fiber or poly-D if you are also looking for fiber. Reduce the protein by 26g and calories by 110.
Blueberries compliment almonds well (~6 blueberries = 1 carb). However, I found I was barely able to taste them in this shake, so they are probably not worth it.
Enjoy!
