Ingredients: 10 asparagus spears --
fresh, or 18 canned
6 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 teaspoon onion powder
-- or 1 cup onion
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tablespoons fresh basil
-- chopped
1 cup gruyere cheese --
grated - or swiss

How To Prepare: Spray pie plate with Pam
cooking spray. Preheat
oven to 350 degrees. Place
asparagus (drained) in pie
plate. Beat eggs, add
cream, onion, salt, pepper,
basil and pour over
asparagus. Top with
cheese. Bake for 1/2 hour
until set. Cool five minutes
and serve.

The original recipe called
for 1cup of onion. Not being
a huge onion fan, I used a
little powder. If you like
onion, include it, and adjust
carb counts. Also, adjust
counts if you use anything
other than gruyere.

I just had this tonight, and
yummy!!! I used a tall can of
asparagus, and used 18

I actually used a round 9"
pie glass for this one, so
that I didn't have to mess
with cutting and fitting the
asparagus into individual
containers. Now, I've sliced
the recipe into 6 pieces,
and will freeze what wasn't
eaten. The only change I
might make next time is
maybe include a little more
cheese, 'cuz I'm a big
cheese fan! It's great as it
is, though.
