SLEEP.. I need your tips and tricks.....

I have been having such a issue with getting to sleep and staying a sleep. I am a healthy soon to be 53 (on Sunday) female. I have no health issues and still have my monthly TOM.. But I can't seem to get my usual 6 to 7 hours of sleep each night. I fall a sleep but just don't stay a sleep. No stress issues, or any other issue I can think of. So please send me your tips or tricks of getting some much needed sleep.... At this point I am willing to try most anything...

If you go to youtube and search for sleep music, there are some really relaxing ones. Even the subliminal relaxation ones can do some good.
If I am having problems staying asleep, I will play them softly all night.
Also sounds like rain, thunderstorm, waves, etc can be soothing and help block out any outside sounds that may be disturbing your sleep.
I tried white noise, but I didn't find it relaxing.

Jeanne-
You may want to talk to your primary doctor or GYN about this. You're at an 'age' of entering menopause soon, and the type of sleep disturbances you're having are common among women at this time--hormone related.

I had the problem only briefly, but my sister's sleep issues have persisted long past menopause, and she has to use Rx sleep aids to get a decent night's sleep.
Her GYN told her that for some women the problem is transitory (as was mine) but in others it persists and becomes permanent.

I hate the thought of taking Rx, but my sister's doctor told her that getting adequate sleep is a priority 'as we age.'

I hope you find an easier solution, but know you're not alone. This issue plagues many women.

I have the same problem, my insomnia is directly related to menopause (according to my PCP and the fact that my FSH level is above 50). It was pretty bad a few months ago but has seemed to eased up a bit. I usually get up and walk around or have a cup of decaf tea...stare out the window and watch for UFO's....lol You're not alone.

i have no suggestion. i was desperate and resorted to Rx. trazadone 150 mg is magic. side effect free and cheap, $4/mo

edited: i didn't start off with 150mg. i started with 100mg and that wasn't enough, tried 125 and finally settled on 150.

Thanks, I feel bad but I resorted to Benadryl. took 2 on Friday night and 2 again on Saturday night. I did get some much needed sleep. I did not take any Sunday night and slep good that night as well. Maybe I fixed it or not... OH and got some tart cherry juice, great stuff...love it...
