just found out pregnant after multiple miscarriages

So I just started low carb at the end of April and finally lost ten pounds after limiting dairy and processed meats. Then yesterday, on a crazy whim, I decided to take a pregnancy test. What's crazy is it was positive. I know I had a period just don't remember when (oops).
Anyway, what scares me is the fact that my last three pregnancies have ended badly: miscarriage at 8 weeks, hemmorage and blood transfusion at 12 weeks, and last June I delivered a stillborn at 19 weeks.
My chances for another miscarriage are pretty high. I am just wondering if staying in ketosis would be a bad idea given my history.
On a side note, my first two pregnancies (yes Ive been pregnant six times) did not end in miscarriage and I have two boys both of whom were born with minor birth defects.

It sounds to me like there is possibly a genetic issue? In any case, I would contact your doc ASAP and get in. Personally, I wouldnt be terribly concerned about ketosis. I would be more concerned about consuming processed junk and chemicals. I stayed fairly low carb for both my pregnancies but I doubt I was in ketosis much at all. I ate a hunter/gatherer type diet + dairy. I included things like the odd potato, starchier veggies, etc. Congrats and keep us posted!

Did they indicate a cause for your miscarriages? I would eliminate wheat, sugar, and processed junk and just focus on fresh foods. Wheat allergies can cause miscarriages (not everyone knows that) so that can add to the risk. I wouldn't worry about ketosis but still would watch my carbs. Keep it fresh foods. Congrats on the surprise.

I stayed low carb for my pregnancy. Had a healthy baby boy at 40. How can a diet of vegetables, meat , and cheese be bad? I did eat more nuts and dairy than usual.

The first miscarriage, I was told one in three prefnancies end in miscarriage. The second, I was told that no baby ever formed. The third was a surprise. Because of the first two miscarriages, they did a couple of ultrasounds early on my pregnancy. Everything was normal. When I did finally lose him, I had to deliver him normally because it was so late in my pregnancy. They tested the placenta and said everything came back fine. The Dr said he died from a blood clot.
I have decided to stay low carb but add back fruits. Thanks everyone.

Well I went off plan on the 17th and had morning sickness and heartburn all day. Past two days have stayed lc and have had no morning sickness with mild heartburn. This us new to me as I have had extreme morning sickness and heartburn with all my pregnancies. The prenatal vitamins Dont even make me nauseous this time around. What a difference. Go to Dr. today to find out how far along I am. Hopefully everything is good.

So far so good. I am a little over 7 weeks. Dr is setting me up with an ultrasound in a couple of weeks to check in baby. No morning sickness! I wouldn't even know I was preggo if it weren't for the mood swings and bathroom trips.

First of all, I'm sorry for everything you have been through in the past. *hugs*

Have they been proactive about the blood clot in the last pregnancy at all? Have you done any blood work? There is a test called multiple miscarriage panel. I had that done recently.

My first child was still born at approx 29 weeks last March. That was my only pregnancy. However, a specialist ran the multiple miscarriage panel on me a few months ago. I was found positive for mthfr which means my body doesn't process folic acid correctly and puts me at a higher risk for blood clots. They are watching that closely as we try to get pregnant again and have put me on some special medication.

Please keep us updated, and I will keep you in my thoughts!

I woke up today and am spotting. This scares me because I only spotted with the miscarriages and not at all with two good pregnancies.
About the blood clot, I was working a very physical job at the time and the doctor believed that was the cause of the bloodclot. I wasn't working with first two miscarriages.
Anyway, I am trying to hold off going to er because I know they will say spotting is normal and send me home. But after my history, I can't help but be freaking out right now.

Can you call your doctor? Even if they aren't in the office today, they should have an exchange? They will know more about you and your history than the ER.

Both my sisters went through multiple miscarrages...they had testing done...turns out is was a chromosomal problem...thankfully , they both ended up with 2....I think the both had a balanced translocation can't remember which two chro. they both didn't have a problem getting pg...just keeping it.
I went for testing...all good I thought...my problem was the opposite...could not get pg at all...ended up doing IVF...with ICSI....got pg on first round with twins...miscarried one twin at 13 weeks...Steven now 9 stuck with me.
We did it again, pg but miscarring...blighten ovum (sp)
I will keep you in my prayers...take it easy

Unfortunately, I went off plan for a couple of weeks. I gained 10 pounds by the end of first trimester which is horrible. I am slowly working my way back to lower carbs but because of my history my doctor wants me to stay out of ketosis. She said she wants me to go by the book completely. I'm not even allowed to lift over 15 pounds. I am eating low carb but have added sugar free whole grain bread, fruit and tortilla chips back. I have been craving tortilla chips and salsa like crazy. SME thing happened with my boys. Maybe this is a positive sign. Anyway, thanks for the help and encouragement.

ten pounds for the first trimester isn't bad! I'm glad you are doing well, you can worry about the weight later.

Congrats!!
I'm pregnant with my 3rd (daughter) as well, and understand first hand how it feels after a 2nd trimester loss. I'm set for a c section(had to have 2 in past) on Nov 7th so I'm not doing low carb but just joined the site anyways for motivation not to overeat whilst pregnant.

I am 20 weeks pregnant after a miscarriage at 9 weeks. I am 38 and have a 12 year old so this is a HUGE gap in age LOL - are you guys eating lower carb but incorporating fruit or some complex carbs? I am trying to eat better - have already gained 18lbs.
