Too many periods on HFLC

I'm on my third week of low carb high fat (I'm in ketosis) and I'm on my period for the second time in three weeks. Can this be due to the ketosis?

Any time you're losing weight, your estrogen levels are going to be in flux, which can lead to breakthrough bleeding. Fat cells store estrogen. I tried a few new BC pills to deal with my constant breakthrough bleeding, and eventually went off them altogether. Still seeing how that plays out

It was normal for me. You might get lucky as I did and not have a period at all the following month after your body adapts.

Yup! I get it every time I restart LC or go off plan. I went off plan this weekend, 3 days, and you betcha, I got my period on Monday.... So annoying and a good reason to not go off plan!

I have a question but didn't want to make a new thread. I've had my period for 1,5 week now and am getting pretty sick of it!!! I'm considering quitting low carb all together. I didn't get it when I started the first time a month ago, but got it after a weekend of bread... Help?

You all might want to talk to your doctors about this one... but periods (technically) are brought on by ovulation. You can have non-ovulatory bleeding that looks and feels like a period, but that's not what it technically is.

So if your periods have been sporadic and your endometrial lining has built up, you might be shedding some of that lining at random times during your cycle - but it's not a true period. I've had screwy cycles and bleeding for a long time. Mine will sometimes come like clockwork at 28 days, and then (like last month) come at 25... I don't know if it was dietary or environmental, or stress or what.

Alonewithyou, I bled for 6 weeks straight and it was horrible. But that was also when I was eating at my worst.

Okay... But I am eating low carb, just not as strict. I'm under 50g a day.. Oh, well. I'll see...
