Infertility cured???

Just wondering how many of you guys used a VLC approach on both wife and husband to naturally conceive??

My husband is eating around 100 grams of carbs on a primal diet right now. I am eating a loose 50 grams of carbs per day with a few high carb days with paleo/primal allowed foods.

We both have been trying for a baby for many years without success. He has poor morphology which I have done some reading that L-Carnitine can help???
I have been diagnosed with a Unicornuitie uterus (high the size it should be)

So the odds are both against us.

I am just wondering if we both dropped to below 20 grams of carbs per day with no cheats if we could magically get pregnant???

Needing advise!!!!!

Thanks!!!

I have no idea what the effect of a LC diet could be on male sperm but it certainly couldnt be bad!

Do have issues with ovulation? Or are you fairly regular? I know that LC can help tremendously in that area.

Admittedly, I dont know much about your uterine diagnosis but a quick Google search would lead me to believe that is where you should put your focus. Male sperm can be improved over time usually and it sounds like he is on the right track. I have heard great things about supp'ing with CoQ10 for men as well.

Have you spoken with a specialist regarding your uterus? An RE maybe? They may suggest going straight to IUI or even IVF assuming they are confident you can carry a pregnancy to term. Of course you will need to get DH's sperm up to par as well.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I do believe and have seen countless times in the 12 yrs I have been on this board, that LC can only improve your fertility. Stick with it! The health benefits far out weight the alternative.

No, we tried the ivf the first year. It was really hard on both of us. So, we decided to just accept having one child. I think low carb and higher fat helped. Plus, being at a healthy weight.
I was also 40 when I got pregnant the second time.

We had tried to get pregnant for 18 months. I had a short luteal phase and my husband had a low sperm count. We started doing Atkins and right around the three month mark we conceived. Each month my luteal phase was a bit longer. I really do believe that my low carb lifestyle was the reason we were successful.

This whole time I was focused on the fact that I ate low carb (Atkins induction) and got pregnant in 4 months after losing 34 pounds. I have pcos. We had ttc over 3 years.

But we never visited a fertility specialist. I always thought it was on my end. But you asking this made me go "oh yeah". He was doing Atkins induction, too. I have no idea but I stayed pretty low carb but not strict-enough to maintain-and got pregnant again...on the first try that time. During that time, the husband gained back all the weight and more. But we were following induction aside from once a week I would mix it up and have an 11 carb treat from Starbucks. 20 net carbs the rest of the time. Both of us.

I have PCOS and we went through all the infertility stuff culminating in two IVF procedures to conceive the first child. 8 years later I was low carbing and taking Metformin for health reasons. 6 months later I got pregnant. I was 41. A great shock and joy!
