For the girls!!!!

Hey!!!

I have a female question. I have currently been doing LC for approximately 1.5years. My diet on a daily basis consists of protein, veggies, fat and nuts. I try to stay away from dairy and wheat and all sugar.

I feel amazing eating this way and have plenty of energy along with no blood sugar rollercoasters like I used to have.

Now that I am trying to get pregnant and actively charting I am starting to realise that I am not ovulating. Could low carb have done this to me?? I haven't ovulated in months!!!

Before I lost weight and was eating wheat, dairy, high carb my cycles were clock work. Now I am displaying symptoms of PCOS???

I have 20 more pounds to lose.

Has this happened to anyone else???

Everytime I try to up my carbs again, bang cravings and blood sugar rollercoasters. It's like fruit was meant to hate me LOL.

Thanks guys for helping me out!!

How do you know you're not ovulating?

How old are you? I think it might be a good reason to go to you OB/GYN.

How did you know you were ovulating when you had regular periods? I have PCOS and when I was TTC (11-12 years ago!) I had regular periods too...but the only time I ovulated was the first two months after coming off my birth control pills. I know becuase I checked with the Clearblue Fertility monitor and also checked cervical mucus.

How do you know you are not ovulating now? Temps, cervial mucus?

I highly doubt low carb itself would be causing you not to ovulate. If anything, low carb has been the absolute best thing for my PCOS symptoms (though I am now age 43 so I'm pretty sure I am essentially infertile at this point).

I agree with the PP, it is probably a good idea to see an ob/gyn at minimum or possible a fertility specialist.

I am 32 years old and trying to conceive my first child with DH who will be 37 eek!!!!

i have a fertility monitor that you have to use daily.

It has not been peaking which means no ovulation.

However I have been doing some carb cycling. The reason I started this was because i was told that low carb places a lot of stress on your body and since I have been eating fairly low carb for a while I decided to start adding in carbs once per week. No wheat, things like sweet potato and dark chocolate.

Sounds silly but I wonder if my monitor is broken????? Maybe I should go and buy some throw away ovulation strips.

Thanks guys for the info. Low carbing makes me feel awesome. I did not want to eat high carb.
