Weight gain during ovulation?

Does anyone know if it's normal to gain a few pounds during ovulation?

In the past I've regularly retained water just before my period begins, and I hang on to it until the week after it's over. The last few days I've been going up on the scale rather than down... just a few tenths of a point for the first two days - but then today it was almost a whole pound. The only lifestyle difference is that I've been engaging in very light exercise (moderate walking for 30 minutes or so a day). The weight gain pattern is very similar to what happens before my period - so today I sat down with my calendar and figured that today is exactly 14 days into my cycle - so I'm wondering if the weight gain could be due to ovulation?

Anyone?

OMG, yes! I didnt notice it until a few months ago but I have been charting my cycles TTC#2 and I consistently gain 5 or 6 lbs of water weight around ovulation each month.

At this point, I am best only weighing every 2 weeks because it can get disheartening!

Thanks for talking me down off the ledge! I wish I could discipline myself to stay away from the scale, but I just can't. I may have to learn how to though, if I'm only going to be losing weight 2 out of every four weeks. :annoyed:
