Breastfeeding

Can I LC while breastfeeding? And if so, should I try not to go too low in carbs and not to go into ketosis so that I don't pass on the ketones to my baby and thereby affect her appetite too?

I don't think there's any reason to worry about ketones hurting baby. Pregnant and nursing women are more often in ketosis than non-pg/nursing women. It's a pretty natural state.

I have done a lot of nursing while eating very low carb (<10 g/day) and I haven't seen any ill effects.

Thanks Rubidoux! She's due in Feb and I'm so very glad to hear that I can LC while nursing her. Guess it's time for me to change my old "stats" too ... only noticed it now!

I still nurse my son, but he is 16 months and it's not really as much for nutrition as comfort at this point. If you are trying to lose weight too quickly at the beginning and you are planning on only nursing, you need to be careful of your milk supply. Rapid weight loss can diminish your milk.
