What's your PMS uterus-numbing agent of choice?

Going to the drugstore in a few. In major pain.

DeeLen 11-28-2012 02:26 PM

Midol. I've found it with acetaminphin (sp) and ibuprofen. I like the ibuprofen best. Feel better.

Beaglesaroo 11-28-2012 02:27 PM

Ibuprofen and a heating pad.

SouthernCJ 11-28-2012 02:28 PM

Midol, the caffeine in it really helps me.

Charski 11-28-2012 02:29 PM

800 mg ibuprofen (preferably the gel caps) chased with a Coke Zero. Only thing that worked for me! (no longer an issue.......)

Jennyl 11-28-2012 02:30 PM

I take robaxacet, the back and muscle pain pills.

also this...

Kaimi2008 11-28-2012 02:31 PM

oh man, I really want one of those! My uterus has been great to me until recently, but it's revolting against me now and I really don't need it anymore. My period just depresses me so much...it's crime scene horrible.

Kiley2801 11-28-2012 02:39 PM

Advil. And I'm NOT shy with the dosage. I take up to 800 mg at a time if necessary.

DJ 11-28-2012 02:40 PM

God I wish there were a drive-thru hysterectomy place. I'D EVEN TIP!

LOL!

I had mine removed because I had cysts in and around my uterus. One of them, to quote the doctor, was "as big as a babys head"

I asked him to put it in a jar and save it for me, or at least take a picture. I really wanted to see it! When I asked for the picture later, he said "Uhh. The camera broke."

The story doesn't end there! A year or two later I'm sitting in his office after an exam and he tells me this story about how one crazy lady wanted a picture of it! :annoyed: :o I embarrassed him (on purpose) by telling him I was that crazy lady.

This exactly! Those 800mg's rock!

Karerose 11-28-2012 03:41 PM

I read the title as numbering and was wondering why the heck people numbered their uteruses and what the heck that meant.

The doctor gave me pictures of my daughter's gallstones and I didn't even ask him. Not sure why he thought it was a crazy request.

Seriously. Not kidding. Believe me. I teach high school Biology so for whatever reason I am CONSTANTLY having discussions about periods with individual girls, not necessarily a whole class of kids. I always preface the conversation with I am not a dr and do not give medical advice. But... TUMS! Ya know the soothe your stomach ones. Something about the calcium being pain blockers. My ob-gyn shared it with me. I just happen to keep TUMS in the large bottle on my desk. If a girl gets into them i just happen to be busy doing something else. Girls always come back to tell me how amazing it is and they shared it with their Mom or friends. It does not count as medication, worse case scenario, they get some extra calcium. I have had Moms call just to say "Thank You!" who would have thought it doesn't require knocking me out. Used to be Vicodin didn't even phase those nasty things. I have since chose to get rid of them, the factory didn't work so why deal with the product. When it did, it was evil, until I discovered TUMS. Just a simple crazy easy solution.

kiwi 11-28-2012 03:52 PM

Advil is the only thing that helps me, and lots of it. Heating pads do provide a bit of relief I guess, and a glass of wine at night does too.

By the time I got mine, I was literally begging for it. Nothing touched that pain.

CubsFan85 11-28-2012 04:00 PM

I used to take prescription Naproxen. A double dose of Aleve is probably the same thing.

I have so many aches and pains now I've usually already taken Tramadol or Excedrin and I just have to suffer through the cramps. I get almost daily headaches which only Excedrin touch, but Aleve or Ibuprofen is the only thing that helps cramps.

Tazcat 11-28-2012 04:25 PM

Aleeve and Midol

BitsyMay 11-28-2012 04:29 PM

600mg Advil, one of those stick on heated wraps placed on the abdomen and a block of dark chocolate :)

catr31 11-28-2012 04:41 PM

I really don't know why we just can't get a hysterectomy when we are done having kids. Why put us through years and years of periods when we don't need them or want them?

No kidding! I have terrible pain the first full day of my period. I had an ablation a few years ago and have very little flow, but the pain was sending me to bed moaning. One day, I decided to try one of my husband's Vicodin. Voile - no more pain. Of course, I slept for 8 hours, but it was a fair trade off.

I totally agree! I had an ultrasound and my uterus is fine. But my periods cause me so much grief. I never know when it's going to come, sometimes it's once every 6 weeks, sometimes it's once every two weeks.... I never know how long it will last... Sometimes it lasts 5 days, sometimes 15 days.

hate it...maybe I'll ask my doctor about a hysterectomy. I doubt she would agree to it.
