Stella had her 2 month appointment today. 8.9 pounds and 22.5' long. She's doing good. Got a short lecture about her weight but she's eating so it is what it is. She took her shots well but has been sleeping ALL day! I'm going to have to keep her up for a bit so we aren't up all night

Went and had more blood drawn this morning for my HCG level re-check. Should get the result tomorrow. Apparently, this office is typically closed on Fridays, so I would have to wait until Monday for the result, but the nurse said she was going to take my file with her to the other office (that will be open tomorrow) so I would get my result tomorrow. I appreciated that

Yes she's gaining and she's hitting all her milestones so I barely listened!
She had a decent night. Was up later than normal but didn't sleep any more than normal |

Thank you everyone for your kind words! I appreciate it! I plan to test Friday or Saturday morning. Depends on how long I can hold out. I want a positive so bad but mostly I want a reliable result.
Oh and jillybean congrats on your pregnancy! |

Hi everyone, I used to be active over here on LCF and then stopped when I got pregnant. I've dropped in a couple of times but haven't been around all that much. Baby Nick will be 9 months old tomorrow, and it's time to get down to business because after he weans we're going to be doing PGD to try for a baby girl (I have a 5 year old son as well, am now 40, only have one tube, and have PCOS so I don't want to be trying and trying for ages and my doctor is on board with this), and I really want to be close to goal weight before we go through all of that. I'm about 4 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight and I know the best things for me is low carb but I'm having some trouble getting my head on board!

I think I'm going to switch to Paleo for a while. My face is breaking out bad, which is what happens when I eat a lot of dairy. It will be a little higher carb, but still low carb none the less. I'm excited for the change. No sign of O yet, and I'm not sure if we'll try this cycle or not. We decided not to before, but it's hard to pass up an opportunity.

I did SO much better with my eating today. Aside from some rice with lunch, everything was on target for a good low-carb day. Just gotta keep chipping away at it...within the next couple weeks, I'll go hard core - no artificial sweeteners, no grains, avoid soy as much as reasonably possible...still wrapping my brain around being pregnant again.
Ben has a cold AGAIN. I hate feeling so helpless when he's sick. I have the head end of his mattress elevated slightly and his humidifier running, and he had a long warm bath tonight, so that's about all within my power for him being so young. I'm just praying he doesn't end up with pink eye again. I gave him some eye drops tonight and will likely give them just morning and night while his nose is so runny. My husband noticed one of Ben's eyes looked a little pink tonight, but I'm hoping it was just from getting water/soap in his eye during his bath. Thanks! Figured it was time to update since the old one was about 10 months old :P Quote:

Just checking in with you ladies! I'm 29 weeks tomorrow, and have another doctor appointment on Monday already. We are just starting our biweekly appointments! I'm feeling pretty good except hitting a wall of exhaustion every evening and sometimes being super tired throughout the day!
Our dog is reaping the benefits, I watched DH feed her a second time the other night when I knew I had just fed her. I just didn't process it until after she was already scarfing it down! Connor is giving some really big kicks now and DH lucked out and felt one the other night. Baby is a bit of a punk and stops kicking anytime we try to feel it from the outside! ha ha I hope everyone is doing well!

Just got the call from my OB's office. They said HCG levels should double every 2-3 days as early as I am. In 3 days, mine more than tripled (316 from Monday morning's blood draw to 1,000 from Thursday morning's blood draw)! So I am good to go

I think DH had a momentary lapse of sanity the other day and made a mention that he wanted to try for a THIRD baby! I am 40 now. Baby #1 is 16 months old. Baby #2 is 4 months old. I've had horrible PPD after both of them. But I kind of keep thinking about this.....oh my gosh, talk me down, please!
![]() But seriously, I think he was feeling sentimental because he just lost his 14 year old cat last Saturday and has been taking it really hard (I think I mentioned about how we lost two of our furbabies within 2 weeks upthread?) So, I have a feeling he may be thinking clearer by the time I am ovulating again.....plus I would totally have to quit my job and stay home and we'd have to get a bigger house. Right now we are paying $30,000 a year for daycare for two boys and that is pretty "reasonable" (haha!) around here. I don't think we can swing $45,000. And I don't feel like I have enough support (family/friends) local by me to be a good enough SAHM. Plus I have PCOS and depression and anxiety.....and......what the hell am I even entertaining this thought for???!!!! Jilly----glad to hear about the HCG levels!!! the new avi!

Suzie-Love the name Connor! That name was a strong contendor for our baby Ethan. And I do miss those kicks....in a way. But I don't miss the walking struggles, the peeing every half hour, the barely fitting behind my steering wheel.......lol!

jilly - I am so happy for you!
Sharon - Hold the phone girl! I would take some time to mull it over because I know how hard you struggled with PPD, etc. That said, I hear you on the daycare prices!!! This is why DH and I always agreed to only 2 children. If we were to have more, I would have to be a SAHM and I make more $ than DH so maybe he would have to be a SAHD? Suzie - Glad to hear all is going well. That 3rd tri tiredness is a killer. Well my temps say I have O'd and we certainly covered it. ![]()

![]() Sharon I think you should do it! But that's my opinion and I'm crazy like that. Andi I’m praying this is the month! ![]() AFM, I've made my paleo menu and shopping list and will start tomorrow. I had a slight freak out moment today at the thought of giving up dairy. But I've done it before, and my face cleared up, so I know that's what needs to be done. I also have a gluten issue. It really is so difficult to have a sensitivity to two major foods! I was thinking that at lunch today as everyone is ordering what they want with little thought. The upside is my body can only thank me for ridding it of something that's not good for it. And a happy body will hopefully make a happy baby. ![]()

Jilly, congrats on the numbers! That is always a huge relief!
Sharon, we are definitely going for baby #3, but I didn't have PPD with either boy (and I'm 40!). We are going to have to move to a bigger house, though, and I HATE moving. I still have to wonder if I'm crazy for wanting to go through this again, though...my pregnancies kind of sucked hardcore, and I am not a fan of the sleep deprivation that goes along with babies. |

So many mommies having more babies! How is everyone doing on eating? More and more research is showing how the mother's diet effects the fetus long term.

This is EXACTLY why I go so strict with my dietary intake during pregnancy. I did some reading on "fetal origins" prior to becoming pregnant the first time. I get so frustrated when people say things like, "I ate XYZ when I was pregnant, and my baby is perfectly healthy!" Yes, your baby may have been healthy, but you still may have had an impact on that child's health when he's 40. Interesting reading.

Lori, you're doing SO well! I know a lot of doctors who would tell their patients they NEED carbs while pregnant, and they offer medication to help control glucose levels. It's such backwards thinking, IMO. There are absolutely some women who need medication to help, but I think there would be greater success without medication if more doctors were better educated about low carb eating.

There are some moms on my other board who stayed zero carb for their pregnancies! I had a hard enough time eating low carb. They all have big healthy babies too.

Debbie, I know LOTS of people who look very pregnant after eating gluten products! I think it's a problem a LOT of people have but have no idea they even have it. You don't necessarily have to have celiacs to have a gluten issue, but I think many think that's the case, so they think they're fine.
I'm going hard core with my diet starting tomorrow. Right now, I'm enjoying my last diet soda for the next 9 months! |

Man I was doing so good keeping my weight down since I started eating lower carb. Now in the last 3 weeks I've gained 10 pounds! HOLY COW! Is this normal towards the end or am I eating too much and making too many exceptions to my diet?
My blood pressure is great, so I'm not thinking preeclampsia. |
