PCOS Question--Menopause
An endocrinologist told me that I am in "well into menopause" because of my "elevated" FSH level, but it's really not that high--10.8 and last time it was measured, in August of last year, it was 12. So it's going DOWN. From what I've read, women who are still cycling can have FSH levels like this.
I'm 52, so it's definitely time for menopause, and I'd welcome the end of periods because they have always been heavy and annoying to me. As it is, I only get a few periods a year, anyway, but they are always horrible. BUT, am I really in menopause. I'm having a hard time believing her, especially since my levels went down. The issue is that I'd like to increase my Metformin to get my cycles a little more normalized if I am not in menopause, she says there's no point since I am in menopause. I don't know the right answer. Anyone with experience with menopause and PCOS--how did you know? |
