I know doctors prescribe antidepressants for PMDD, the more serious version of PMS. If the prozac works for you, great. Prozac can cause weight gain, plus a lot of fun side effects. I've had problems with PMDD for years now, but I don't respond well to synthetic antidepressants, so I use natural remedies.
I take a combination of B-50 and 200mg of Folic Acid daily, plus 500 mg of calcium 3x day (your body can't absorb more than 500mg at one time). If I start feeling overwhelmed by everything, I know its time to take an extra dose of calcium and magnesium together. My symptoms usually disappear within 20 minutes. I also started taking black cohosh a few months ago and found my PMS symptoms diminished dramatically. I think it may have slowed down my weight loss, but I've been dealing with a lot of stress this year and can't afford the wild mood swings on top of every thing.
