Q for the Ladies

For any ladies that track ovulation or have an approximate idea of when you ovulate have you noticed any correlation with ovulation and water retention/overnight gains?

Oh, yes.

Ovulation = weight gain for me. I can spot it, easy. 2-3 lbs of weight-gain... It's all water, but it's ALWAYS there.

Thanks ladies. I'm wondering if that's what is happening to me. Time will tell as I continue to track my daily weight and my cycle. I had just never heard of ovulation causing water retention before but it doesn't surprise me.

Me, too! I gain about 3 pounds during ovulation. It goes away but is no fun!

Add me to the list. I use an app on my ipod to track my cycle and it's like clockwork...I remind myself when I gain weight on days 13-18 that this happens *every* month and to stop freaking out. (Which I do every month, anyway. ;D) The problem is, its hard to tell week to week if I'm losing and instead I have to go month to month.

This is why I weigh frequently and track OVER TIME. Day to day, week to week, it can be hard to tell. But when you've got 2+ months of graph in front of you, the short-term bumps even out, and you can see the overall trend.

Yes, I've been using *********** to track and it has a nice graph feature, and as you said, being able to see the long-term trend keeps me encouraged. I'm really happy to report that I finally got past the 6-week stall I was in by doing a two-day fat fast over Memorial Day weekend. I didn't stick to perfectly, but it jump-started things anyway.

I don't keep track anymore, but I definitely retain after ovulation. In fact, even when I seriously dieting, I seem to only lose weight about two weeks out of 4. Right when my period started, I would have a whoosh the next day, then I would lost steadily for a couple of weeks. Then, I assume around the time of ovulation, I would barely lose weight, or my weight would jump up and down with the same few pounds. It has always been like this for me.

I don't usually retain during ovulation. It's usually the day or two before my period.
