Kay one last update... the ketone sticks go from Negative, trace, small, moderate, large. I was at small. So to increase and get into ketosis... do I need to up my fat and cut more carbs? I set my goal for 65% fat. Also... could that be why Im not losing lbs??

Queasy feelings have been mild, but i'm getting them a little more often. I made chicken cordon blue the other day (one of my faves), and couldn't even look at the chicken, how sad! i had to eat just the ham and cheese in the middle. Mostly i just don't feel like eating, and when i do eat, i feel stuffed right away. I've even lost some weight unintentionally, even though my belly continues to grow bigger. Doc appointment next week, and i've never been so excited to go!
Man you and I are so on the same track!
I'm 7 weeks tomorrow! I started taking vitamin B6 for the morning sickness and haven't thrown up once since starting! I still get turned off by certain foods and I too fill up fast when I eat. Eating lots of small meals thru out the day.

Spent all day out shopping yesterday with my mom and Ben - found LOTS of great monster finds! Came home with way more than expected, including a new monster book, a whole bunch of Ugly Dolls (they were 50%!), a lot of new clothes (in various sizes so he doesn't grow out of everything in the next couple months), a couple of monster card games that were 75% for him for when he's older, and a new age-appropriate toy heh, I got absolutely NOTHING for myself, though I do need some new work clothes to hold me over until I lose some of this weight...

Nights have been very good with Ben. The pediatrician was right - he's never actually hungry when he wakes up at night. When he wakes up, we just give him his pacifier and take a couple minutes to help him get back to seep, and he's good to go. Last night, he didn't even wake up at all until about 6:30 this morning, so we got him up at about 6:45. It looks like sleeping from 8:30pm to 7:30am more consistently may actually soon be our reality!

Now to try to do some catching up here:

I'm a proposal manager, so I lead a team in putting together proposals in response to government RFPs. So, I'm a babysitter (always staying on top of everyone to do their stuff and meet their deadlines), a scheduler and coordinator (I set the schedule and pull all the pieces together into a cohesive document), a meeting leader and facilitator (most often conference calls since we're all geographically spread out), a compliance checker, an editor, a desktop publisher, a production specialist (responsible for finalizing the electronic document files, then printing, binding, labeling, and reviewing them, burning and labeling the CDs, and packaging, labeling, and shipping everything out)...the due dates are inflexible since they're set by the government, but it never fails that someone on my team doesn't meet one of their deadlines in getting their content to me, which sets the whole schedule back (even though I build a little extra time into the schedule in anticipation of these issues). To avoid setting EVERYTHING back and not getting the document done in time, I usually end up working late nights/early mornings, weekend, and holidays to pull things together. It's pretty much par for the course in proposal work, and it gets very stressful at times, but, quite frankly, that's also why it pays well!

Well, we went shopping all day yesterday and will be going out again shortly to hit Kohl's, and my mom won't leave too late in the day since it's about a 4-hour drive without any traffic, and she's driving it alone now. So, no time away to really relax, but nice to visit with my mom.

You were right - I aim for 65-75% of my calories from fat. I basically just eat as much fat as I can. I don't even count anything anymore.

I anticipate being a busy mom when Ben reaches elementary school since the school is RIGHT around the corner, so within super close walking distance.

haha, and herein lies the greatest divide between men and women - for him, it really IS over, so when it comes up again, you will have been gathering ammo for a long time, while it will be hitting him out of nowhere! If you have an issue, try to talk about it and resolve it sooner rather than later. That's absolutely one of the most important lessons I've learned throughout my relationship.

I have never in my life bought or used a ketostick. In my opinion, it's just one more thing to get overly focused and hung up on. You're just trading one obsession (calorie counting) for another (measuring ketones). I suggest NOT using them. Keep your carbs low and your fat high, and you'll see the results over time.

I wouldn't worry about it. I had spotting and "pieces" of stuff multiple times throughout my first trimester. It's likely just your body getting rid of the junk leftover in there from previous cycles. Bright red would be more concerning; brownish means it's old blood.

I agree with jilly Jax, I think you are over thinking things way to much. Eat right and exercise and the weight will come off. You JUST had a baby. You can't expect to be back to your prepregnancy body overnight.

Well I had some icecream last night. We went out for it and it was totally worth every bite! I figure as long as I'm mainly lc I'll be ok. Feel fine today and am pleased at how iveeen eating. Right back to lc today and a nice walk this evening

Yummm to ice cream... That's my ultimate downfall lol. Mainly the frozen yogurt shops. I wa craving it bad yesterday but didn't cave. I agre that I am def obsessing but that's because I have 90 days until that wedding. We will be seeing a lot of USMC ppl that we haven't seen since july 2011 and I don't want to be seen as someone who let themselves go lol. I know I just had a baby but I think sometimes ppl use that as an excuse to not get back into exercising and eating healthy and then they end up still trying to lose "baby weight" when their child is 3 or 4 yrs old. I'm not saying there's anything wrong w that if that's a weight or body shape etc that some1 is comfortable with.... But I myself am not. So therefore I have to keep trying to get healthier and that doesn't mean necessarily lbs but to shed some fat and tone up. Working out right now is what keeps me mentally clearer, let's me decompress and helps me work 2wards something. Lol so along the way I will find a middle ground of caring and overly obsessing. I just need alil time to assess and get there

yesterday's work day turned into a 12 hour shift () so the fresh green beans, sweet corn, and chicken waiting in the fridge for my dinner turned into mcdonalds. then i picked up doggydoo and mowed the lawn so at least i did an activity for McD's penance. it's getting harder to do yardwork with the belly in the way, i'm ready for the man to get home and help me out.

i have some bloodwork to do tomorrow so i'm gonna try to be good with my food today. my fbs was 95 this morning, it's never that high. i blame McD's.
b- smoothie, coffee
sn- string chz, avocado
l- hb eggs, vegs & dip
sn- cukes & onions, cherries
d- chicken, g beans & corn

and if i follow that menu for realz, i will be very proud of myself. i'm thinking of chicken cordon blue since amyliz said that a page ago.

jax, you gotta be nice to your body, don't stress yourself out because you're not seeing immediate results. you spent the last 9 months growing a baby, you need time to re-adjust. just keep at the exercise and don't eat mcdonalds like me and you'll see progress. when i was working out hardcore, if i fitnesspal'ed *most* of my food and activity for the day i'd consider that a good day.

jilly, i just look at the baby room and turn around and say "i'll deal with this later." realistically, what do you use for the first month? bottles, onesies, burp cloths, blankets, diapers, wipes, pack n play, boppy, infant seat & stroller and a few toys. i don't need her entire wardrobe beyond 3m or the crib bedding & decor (pack n play for the first few months in our room) so i can stash that away. the whole moving situation is just blitzing my mind.

We didn't use his nursery AT ALL for the first 2 months. He slept in a pack n' play (raised up to bassinet level) in our room, and it had an attached changing table that we used just fine. We actually didn't have a lot of bottles because I was positive I was going to be breastfeeding and wouldn't need many (so much for that!), so we just had a few little Avent bottles and made due until I got out shopping when he was about 2 weeks old and bought more. No toys - he is JUST now able to grab and hold and intentionally reach for toys. Before he was about 3 months old, they were useless. He wore some onesies and sleep n' play outfits (it still got pretty cold the first few weeks) and slept swaddled in a receiving blanket or in a sleep sack.

Yup, blankets, diapers, and wipes...and an infant bathtub if you plan to use one (though a big kitchen sink lined with folded bath towels will also work, or a bath in a big bathtub with you!). Other than that, we did use a bouncy seat quite a bit early on - he even slept in it his first couple nights home because I was just watching him constantly and couldn't bear to have him so far away (about 6 feet from our bed) in his pack n' play :P We would lay him on the playgym/playmat thing, but he really didn't care about all the toys and stuff until much more recently, so laying on a blanket on the floor would have been just as good. The boppy will be good, too, as a little "seat" for baby to lean back on (just be careful for a few weeks because they tend to slide down and then can squish their face up against it). Oh, and any kind of sling or Moby or front carrier you may want to use in case you have a baby who always wants to be held.

The best thing you can do is have someone to help you get the basics set up in case you end up in the hospital on (or before!) moving day! We would have been struggling if my parents hadn't had the necessities already set up for us when we got home from the hospital. My husband was figuring out the carseat base, carseat/carrier, and pack n' play the first night home while Ben and I were still in the hospital (he stayed with us the second night, but not the first night since there was so much going on at home).

I have done the fat fast, but you do know it's only for people with Metabolic resistance who absolutely can't lose on any other plan right? Dr. A says it can actually be dangerous to do it if you're MR. Try other things first please!

"Caution: The Fat Fast is actually dangerous for anyone who is not metabolically resistant. For people who lose weight fairly easily, the rate of weight loss is too rapid to be safe. But it carries very little risk for people who can barely lose on any other regimen."

that's kinda what i was thinking - no need to stress myself out trying to get the nursery in order when in reality it won't be used right away. whatever makes it less stressful on me is the goal here. both families are good about pitching in to help us and we're all looking forward to having the baby girls in the fall. i'm excited to move but so NOT excited at the whole "moving" part.

I'm also moving before the baby is due, so i'm very hesitant about buying anything too soon, since it'll just have to be stuffed in a box!

Hi everyone! I've been reading and not commenting or posting.

Nick has his 2 month appointment on Friday and the doctor said he's perfect. Well, I already knew that... Anyway, he's doing great and even did well after his shots. He seemed to want to eat more and be awake more afterwards instead of sleeping and not eating, but whatever. He didn't sleep all that well on Friday night but did well last night. I'm still tired, as usual, but I'm okay.

Since coming back to LCF I've lost 2.5 pounds so that's nice! I don't even feel like I'm really doing anything very different but maybe just being conscious of wanting to lose weight is making me be more careful.

xoxo

I dont think you are annoying anyone! LCF is for the purpose of losing weight and reaching optimal health. I just think you are over critical and wishing for to much too fast. Your body has changed

My BFF just left all alone and quiet again. Sigh...I have about 4 weeks until my mom comes. It's going to be a LONG 4 weeks.

I would invest in a swing that plays music and vibrates. It was my saving grace for DD, and DS loved it too. Sometimes they would cry and nothing I did could stop it. But I'd strap them in there, and they'd be out in two minutes. Saved my sanity more than once!

Hi there! It sounds like your little one has hit his 2mos growth spurt! Make sure he eats as often as he wants, as much as he wants. I know that sounds "duh" but those first few growth spurts are so important. And congrats on the weight loss!!

Lizzy- yay!! I'm so happy that you both are better and home!! Now to get in some quality snuggle time

DP- have you tried the breyers carb smart ice cream? I can have a half cup of the chocolate and be satisfied, and I put a half cup of vanilla into half of a diet root beet and some hwc, and it is soooo good. If I limit it to once or twice a week and watch my other carbs those days, it won't stall me. They had it at the commissary but they recently stopped carrying it

I'm up today, 165 My own fault, I went crazy last night with hotdogs, had six and right before bed too... So gonna drink a lot of water today, and probably do some egg drop soup today. Maybe some mom's crazy cabbage soup (Linda Sue).

Anyone else?

jAX.. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.
I am a daily weight person.
I go 10 or less for carbs. I eat as much fat as I can. It cuts the appetite. (sp)
I measure ketones.
Most important is water.... I work on getting a gallon a day.
When I was losing my most weight I was eating over 2000 sometimes 3000 cal a day but only carbs were from cheese, romaine lettuce and dressing.
I also loved fasting... My longest was 3 days.
But mostly 24 hours once a week just to clean my system.
If you don't eat enough the weight won't come off. Stress will keep the scale from moving also. Also if you are exercising you are building muscle, so use the tape measure to track progress as well.

Too much going on today, it overwhelms me. And the boys keep coming in the house. I want to keep the party outside. I want to take a walk with James, but it is too hot. ugh.

Big deep breaths suzanne

How's Asher Lizsy?
Can you give me some of the fats you eat? Im always trying to increase mine but I'm such a protein person

Cat- I haven't tried the lc icecream. I'm honestly not a huge ice cream person. Me and my gf just decided to go at like 9pm last night

Nice work carollee!

I don't envy all you moving. I've moved 6 times already and we probably have another move coming a few months after baby is born. I don't even want to think about it!

So today is not a lc day. We went to breakfast and I did ok but then I had some hash browns and a small piece of strawberry shortcake (that's my downfall!!) and I just had to have some saltines. I felt like I was going to die from nasea. They helped a little. I'm going to try for no more carbs today if I have to even eat again. I'm feeling very all of a sudden

ok, I must made my burgers and now feel a bit better. I am waiting for it to cool down so I can walk with James. My husband and son had a great time, so it makes it worth my anxiety.

Hey everyone -

Dp - hope you are feeling better.
Suzanne - glad you are feeling more relaxed.
Jaxsmom - you are not annoying at all. I enjoy your posts but do feel from what you have said you are being too hard on yourself and haven't given time for your changes to show effects yet. But you do what you need to to be healthy and happy . I give you a lot of credit, after Sam, I was so Sleep deprived, I could barely give thought to food or exercise.
You asked about baby food making, I have a handheld blender wand that I love. The only thing I didn't love how it came out was green beans but I don't think I used enough water to get the texture right.

Hi to everyone else

I had college course everyday all day last week and my house fell apart. Sigh, lots for college to do this week and lots of cleaning to catch up on. Feeling overwhelmed, what will it be like when I get back to work? Kudos to those of you moving - that can't be easy!

I think the only person really anoyed here is you I just think you jump from thing to thing to thing without really giving any of them a chance to work. You haven't been low-carbing without calorie counting for very long, but you're already changing up your fat amounts, worrying about ketosis, thinking of doing a fat fast...I think you just need to give yourself some time to see how these things are really working for your body. I know you're anxious about the upcoming wedding, but if you show up with a baby in your arms (or photos if it's a kid-free event!), everyone will understand. It's not that you've "let yourself go" or used pregnancy as an excuse because you obviously ARE doing things to get healthy, not just sitting around watching tv and eating Cheetos and blaming the condition of your body on having had a baby. The fact is most women's bodies DO change, like it or not, and your hips may never be as narrow as they were before, your breasts may never be the same as they were before, and your tummy may never be as flat as it was before. Just keep doing what you're doing - your workouts show you're far from being lazy!

It's so hard because babies are all so unique. Ben has never been in a swing and HATED the ridiculously expensive Mamaroo (that a friend let me borrow) that's supposedly better than a swing, and he never even cared for the vibrations of the bouncy seat

Just go with fatty proteins! I pick fatty cuts of meat (chicken thighs instead of breasts, marbled cuts of beef, 80/20 ground beef, bacon...), full fat cheeses, and cook with oil or butter.

Morning.

I think what you said to Jax is right on jilly

And big Jax. You are doing amazing and really inspiring. I see a lot of myself in you and I see that Ed voice whispering to you. Push him away!

Tha is for the fat ideas jilly. I'm not a big dark meat person. I like my chicken breasts! But I do eat ground beef and regular ground turkey. Ive been getting a lot of my fat from dressings and I know that's not the greatest. And of course I forgot avocado when I went shopping yesterday

Feeling a little under the weather today. Hoping it passes because I work until 6:30 and really want to walk tonight. I did yesterday evening and it felt good. Back to 100% lc today after a few poor choices the last 2 days. Menu is planned and deviled eggs are boiled

After James, I went back to my usual vlc eating plan. I had no goal in mind. I just wanted to feel healthy. For a few weeks I was 123, I was fine with that. Then it dropped to 110...go figure. I made no changes in my eating. You need to be patient! Find an eating plan you can love and forget the scale.
I would rather be fat and happy than thin and miserable.

I went off the pill over the weekend and re-started LC life today. I'm hoping to drop at least 10-15 lbs before we get pregnant (although I could stand to lose at least 40 overall.)
We're not in a major rush, but I'm 33 (and a half) and he's almost 40. I know that's not old to have a baby, don't get me wrong. But I want to be an at-home mom, and I want to have at least one baby before I don't have the energy to keep up with him/her. Does that make sense?
Anyway. I'm so glad to have this board here! It'll be days/weeks before I can read through all the olds posts, but congrats, mamas!
