As long as I'm healthy, I won't be too hard on myself about the number on the scale. After all, no matter how much weight I lose, I'll never have a physically nice body, so I'll always be wearing "shaping" undergarments, never a sleeveless top, never a swimsuit without some sort of cover-up, etc., so healthy is all I can strive for
Jilly your def right and your positivity and great attitude def motivate me to try to accept myself!

JM- I the commissary, but the one here sucks. Their produce is crap and really limited- I usually have to get it from local stores, which are super expensive. I might try the farmers market and see what they have. The meat prices are better than off base, but the quality is not good. Often I'll tag along with my BFF to Costco and get some stuff there. I'd REALLY like a deep freezer, but can't afford it yet

DH is from another country and waiting for his residency to come through. It's taken a really long time.... And he will be disqualified if he receives any kind of government assistance, so no unemployment for him

Jilly- you have come such a long way!! I agree, you should concentrate on being healthy. Big gals get pregnant and give birth to healthy babies, too.. It just takes some of us longer than others. We all need to just get ourselves healthy and work on making healthy, beautiful babies I'm praying and cheering for all of us!

That looks really good! Today I ended up having a jimmy dean ham and cheese frozen omelette. Was pretty decent and only 4 carbs. Plus no cooking or cleanup tomorrows breakfast will be canned pumpkin, nutmeg and clove, sf maple syrup, and crumbled sausage. Sooo good!

The crust will be a little delicate, but no worse than graham ones. It's not a pie crust, so it won't hold up like that, but it complements the cheesecake perfectly.

Ughh that totally sucks. My friend is actually going through something similar with her Hubby from Germany. Boo to crappy Commissary! I was pretty disappointed with the one at NAS JRB in Ft Worth. We still have privelleges(spelling?) lol and I was all excited that it was only 45 mins from our house and I got there and was like "WTH?". Its so small and has nothing. I guess maybe cuz its a reservist base and noone really lives there. Boo! Lol and we have memberships at Costco and Sams.. love them!

OK, I will make you all feel better. I am turning 41 next month! James was all natural too. Perfectly healthy.
I love how everyone is focusing on health, not losing weight. It is much more positive.
I also follow a very strict grocery budget. My meals are simple. I only buy on sale. We eat a lot of ground beef and a lot of half price meat on special. I cannot afford soda and that other stuff on my budget. I spend the majority of the buget on meat and cheese.

I have lost weight, have no health problems (that I know of) and ovulate regularly. I suggest you DON'T do what I did, and read TTC forums. So many women are struggling that are overweight, and it's really got me freaked out!

I’ll be 36 next Monday. I've done all stages of Atkins and Paleo. I bounce back and forth depending on my mood. I really need to do two solid weeks of induction though to get things back on the right track. Praying for you too! We'll get there.

And FTR, you guys are moving this thread WAY too fast. Can't keep up with ya!!

Leo, August 13th!
I tried IVF three times after Andrew, all failed. We accepted that we had one healthy child. Andrew is 9!
So, last summer I really wanted another baby. The doctor said I had to gain 20 pounds and fast, that would kick start my ovulation. It worked. I got pregnant in like two months after gaining the weight.
So, whether you need to gain or lose is NOT the issue, being a healthy weight is the issue.
I wish I had done it sooner. So, stay on plan ladies, lose the weight and get to a healthy weight and you will get your baby.
The human body will not get pregnant in an unhealthy environment, it is protecting the fetus.

This is the truth. I've been in denial. Thinking I can eat what I want, and even gain weight, and still get pregnant. I need to get back to what I know works - LC.

Aww I feel so left out! (bday in march)

I'm trying to get healthy, but I don't deny that I need to drop pounds. I'm military and it's just a reality of my career. Hopefully I can do them simultaneously...

Carlini- I have tons of good recipes for induction if you need something new. I do well on induction, it's just the next step that gets me... Wanna do two clean weeks with me?

Suzanne- I'm excited that you were able to conceive, but I don't know if I believe that statement about the body not conceiving into an unhealthy environment. There are too many cases of alcoholics, drug addicts, and ppl who destroy their bodies in many ways who get pregnant. My ex SIL being one of them. She's a drug addict and an anorexic, yet she's had two children. Is it right? Is it fair? But it's happened.

I was overweight when I conceived Ben (about 187 pounds) and not eating very healthy at all. In fact, we were planning to start TTC in the fall, so I was sort of having a few months of "last dinners" before I buckled down to be healthy during pregnancy! I expected it to take us a LONG time to conceive since I only have one ovary (had one removed when I was 16 because a huge cyst cut off its circulation), and everything I'd been told and read, including from my Gyn, said I wouldn't be fertile for 60-90 days after removing my NuvaRing. WRONG - we conceived in my first cycle after taking out the ring, and completely by chance because we hadn't been tracking anything since I had JUST come off birth control. I don't say this to rub it in anyone's face, as I know some here are struggling, but rather that you don't have to be at a perfect weight before it will happen

I got my spare full-size upright freezer for free off Craigslist! If you have a good craigslist community in your area, you may want to keep an eye on the listings.

Hi there! I'm back to LCF after a long hiatus (I had an ectopic pregnancy in January of 2011, and had one of my tubes removed, got diagnosed with PCOS, then got pregnant, and now have a 7 week old son), and am wanting to start working on weight loss again so that when we try for one more child (probably will do IVF/PGD so I can hopefully get my girl), I will be in optimum shape for that. Neither of my two successful pregnancies have been very easy, and I'm sure a lot of it has been due to the extra 40+ pounds I'm carrying around. I am back to my pre-preg weight but have a ways to go. I'm breastfeeding so won't be doing anything way out there to lose weight, but I know I'll feel better doing lower carb and staying away from sugar and processed foods.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Aww, you will! I would like to loose 100 too ideally but believe it or not, I lose a lot when pregnant. I was down almost 60lbs last summer and then went back to my old ways and the weight slowly crept back on. Depsite being overweight, I had an amazing pregnancy and a super easy c-sect! I will be 35 the day before Halloween and I so want this last little one to be here before I hit 36! I dont know why we get so hung up on age these days though. So many women are having babies older and all my friends are too. Its really no biggie.

I also don't think I agree about not getting pregnant in unhealthy environments... I was drinking and smoking a lot, plus severely bulimic when I conceived my first. With this one I was drinking occasionally and had occasional episodes of bulimia. I believe it is in gods hands.

With that said I totally blew today's eating..got into my sons teddy Graham's and then continued with some Mac n cheese and a little hotdog. I also had pb and some cheese.

Ugh, I'm at work and having a hard time concentrating. I'm so sleepy i could crash, but the hunger is keeping me awake. I guess i need to pack more food for these long days! I seem to struggle getting everything together in the morning, though, since i'm just fatigued and unmotivated. I did find out that one of our vending machines has pork rinds in it. That was a lifesaver at lunchtime! I also keep a small jar of peanut butter at my desk with a spoon, but there's only so much of that i can eat before i get tired of it.

I'm just over 6 weeks now, and I haven't had any MS at all yet, although I notice that if i go a few hours without eating, i feel jittery and dizzy. I also can't seem to button my jeans anymore!

Jilly- thanks for that! Imma check out Craigslist!

MG- this is a lovely bunch of women!

Lori- what level of carbs are you wanting? I'm a firm believer of not being in ketosis during pregnancy (at least not on purpose), but that's just my belief. Let me know how many carbs you want, roughly, and I can share plenty of menus and recipes

DP- step away from the easy Mac!! I can't fault you at all, I was totally doing that last week.... I actually thought I was preggo, even tho I have bc right now... All the symptoms, etc.. But man, I wanted that Mac n cheese... Just brush it off, and start over

Amy- drink water! Military trick to staying awake during boring briefings I like to keep powerade zero with me, I like the blue one. Decent taste and keeps you hydrated even thru ms one thing you can pack is pepperoni and cheese sticks. Those don't even have to be refrigerated. Get those snack ziplock bags and every Sunday make 5 baggies with a cheese stick and a serving of pepperoni.

You have def been through alot!! Hope u enjoy it here as much as I do

I agree with DP and Cat... I used to get soooo upset when we were TTC and having probs. I would constantly ask myself why God let ppl like abusive parents or ppl that dont even want kids.. to get prego but we couldnt. I cant say anythin about drug addicts or alcoholics because I am in recovery myself. I have been sober for 3 yrs in Dec and I know that due to alotta things but of course my son.. I will never ever be that person again. I got clean before being prego but sometimes that's God's way of showing people the light. He gives them something in their life that holds meaning more than their drug or alcohol. Then again theres also ppl that never change and only hurt the children they bring into this world. But regardless... Im with them that theres not always an explanation or if there is... God knows the reason and its nothing to do with their lifestyle or health. But being healthy can only help things

DP.. u and I are very alike on the ED and getting prego helped me stop. Thats why I was freakin ot abt not losing because I dont want to go back down that road again Congrats on overcoming it and you have an amazing DH who as u said..will be there to work out with u and help u in recovery

That is wonderful about you being sober for so long! That's such a positive way to take control of your life. It shows responsibility on your part and a willingness to better yourself my SIL refused to get help, even during her pregnancies. She said she would quit, that she wasn't an addict, but then we caught her time and again still using. Plus she smoked and drank throughout. She knew it was bad for the baby but she didn't care. It was worse with the second pregnancy. Since her first turned out okay, she thought she could use without repercussions. So she did even harder stuff. Her second child has lots of problems, and now that the first is older, we can now see that he has learning problems...

Ok. I just mowed the lawn. Hopefully I burned off some of the easy Mac and teddy Graham's. That was rough!

MY older sister is an active alcoholic. We do not speak. Both my parents are alcoholics too. My dad was in AA, my mother is not. I keep a distance from her and her toxic behavior.
I do not drink. For obvious reasons. I spent most of my life bulimic, so addiction is in my nature. I have no desire to go down that path.

Def not induction levels! I'm thinking 50 -80 carbs a day. meat, veggies, nuts and a little fruit. I haven't thrown up a lot but my tummy is def sensitive in the mornings and I have no idea what I can use for that, that's low carb! Everything I read says crackers or bread.
I see a lot of people here are eating eggs for breakfast and normally I love eggs, but lately they just haven't appealed to me at all.
