Gmorning ladies! How is everyone's morning going? I got up at 5 to feed Jax and my sis and BIL were packing up to head back to Houston. BIL has surgery on his hand later on today. Wish they coulda stayed longer but we'll see them again in prolly a month. Everyone went back to bed but I figure Ill use this quiet time to get caught up on some paperwork etc.

Jaxon finally slept through the night last night. We are feeding him every 3 hrs so Ill wake him usually twice to feed but Fri and Sat night he was up nonstop. Fri was gas but Sat he just wasnt tired. He was fighting it and just would not sleep and cried for like 2 hrs straight. But last night we did his first at home bath and then he took his last fully awake bottle around 1130 and fell asleep. I woke him at 230 for a bottle and he fell right back asleep til we got up to say bye to my sis. Hopefully hell do just as good 2nite Any words of advice would be great. Altho I know he wont get in a routine for awhile.

Thats abt it with us Hubby still hasnt found a car he likes yet. I think he and my Dad might go look again 2day. He goes back to work Thurs...

I'm still managing to maintain a 6lb gain so far. This week we're on vacation so I see lots of sunshine and lake in my future!

24 weeks. here's the dog babysitting my belly the other day.

lizzy, i like your idea of training/conditioning to loud noises. hope that baby can can hold out for a few more weeks.

I can't believe you've only gained 6 pounds! you look tiny in that picture. I have a bigger belly at 14 weeks! Lol. That's the perks of only being 4'11 though

I'll have to post a picture later (can't do it from my iPad)

Jax- no advice, your little guy is going to have good nights and bad nights for a LONG while. My son is a great sleeper but even at 2 and a half we have nights where he wakes crying.

aww, thanks for the compliments! but that's a picture laying down - if i posted a standing up one, you'd see BELLY. my doc gave me an 11lb window to gain for this pregnancy and i seem to be nudging right along. I'm also a shortie, 5'3 and a sturdy 210, and my tummy has definitely rounded out. we went to see wicked last night at the theater and you know how those theater seats are, if someone wants to get past you then you have to stand up - my dad told me i took up less room sitting down than standing up to let someone get by LOL! my lowest ever when i was hardcore low-carbing was 176... i'd love to see that number again.

that avi pic of jaxon is sooooooo cute.

Jax- I'm allowed 6 kids (state regulations are 1 adult per 6 kids). I have 4 full time and 2 part time. Today all 6 are here. 2 1 year old twins, a 3 year old boy, a 4 year old girl, a 5 year old boy and my son.

KQT- you'll get back there!

If there is a magic sleep the night through solution, send it here too! Lol. We have good nights and not so good ones and they are sporadic. Last night, was not one of the great ones. I am exhausted. Thankfully, not much on my plate today.

I love western NY, I went to grad school in Rochester. If I didn't have my family here, I would live up there.

Love the dog sitting photo, my cats were constantly on my lap when I was pregnant.

I graduated college from brockport! My sister lives in fairport and we will be spending a few days with her.

I hate it though. I hate the weather and the grey skies that last 8 months a year

The weather wasn't always the greatest, I lived up against the canal. Many summer nights we would go walking. I also had a very active gang that I hung out with, we were always doing something - bowling, softball, wine touring, card games etc. most of my gang is still in the area and there are at least 8 kids 5 and under among them. Only one is a girl lol. So to have a group in the same life situation as me, that like to be active...
I just don't want to be far from my parents or brother. We discussed it - it would be somewhat cheaper to live up there. For now - we are staying here

Jilly- We experienced that crazy thunderstorm too here in WV. Luckily we only lost power about 8 hours, but I have friends who still today (Monday) haven't gotten their power back. It was definitely the scariest thunderstorm I have ever experienced. The lightning was nonstop!!! I'm glad you and your family are okay and have somewhere to stay until your power comes back on

Aww love the belly pictures too

I finally feel more pregnant than fat which is a plus!

KQT- that tank is actually from victorias secret. I used to wear it long with leggins but not anymore I did get very similar ones at old navy though in their maternity section

Love all the baby bump pics!

That avi pic of Jax is sooooooooo adorable! My DS is a great sleeper but there is no magic pill and he still has nights that he wakes up crying. All last week he would wake between 3-5am and we just brought him to bed with us. Now we will have to break him of it.

We are back home today Our power must have come on sometime overnight because it was on this morning but not when I went to bed last night. Now, here's my question: I have a full upright freezer in our spare room FULL of food. How do I know if it all defrosted and then refroze or just never fully thawed? Everything is frozen now because the power was likely back on for about 12 hours before we actually got home. Does it even matter if it did thaw and then refreeze - is there anything wrong with that? It's all just meats and veggies. I'm thinking the veggies might show more freezer burn from extra moisture if they'd defrosted, but I won't be able to tell that until I open the bags.

I had to laugh at this because you say "finally" like it's been SO long :P Ben is a little over three months old and has never yet slept through the night. It's very normal for them to not sleep through the night for a few MONTHS, so get used to it! The ones who do it earlier are the exception, not the norm (and often experience sleep regression around 3-4 months, which I'm reading from a bunch of moms on my birth board over on BabyCenter nowadays). Just in the past few days, Ben's gotten down to only one nighttime bottle instead of two, but in the first few weeks, it was definitely about every 2-3 hours around the clock.

I'd think the veggies would be fine jilly. But how long was the meat defrosted for do you think? Did it stay cold when the power was out? I've thawed and refroze meat before

If the meat thawed....if you don't know what temp it got to....don't take a chance. Freezing doesn't kill the bugs....it could have grown lots of yuckies.
I would cry throwing it out but better that than food posioning, cross contamination, and so on.
My hubby was food safety king, certified, he would say get rid of it. He is cheap too so him throwing away food, money, he is serious.

If the freezer stayed cold it should be fine but if it all completely thawed and it came to room temp, toss it. Its safe to defrost in a refrigerator and then refreeze but you cant defrost at room temp then refreeze. I hope you can keep it!

Did you have any ice cubes or something that would lose its shape if the freezer completely defrosted? I go by the feeling when in doubt, toss it out.

Another day closer.....

Doing research on BF today....this will be new for me. I tried for 3 days with DD15 but she was jaundis and I was too nervous. Got her on formula, yellow went away, then milk came in. I remember the swelling and heat produced from my chest.....need to learn to manage that.
Due to bedrest missed my breast feeding class I was signed up for at the hospital. I hope I can make it to the childbirth class... It's a 7 hour class....I don't see it happening.

Birth anouncements.....I haven't even thought about that. Jaxmom yours looked great....Now I have an idea!

*sigh* I have no way of knowing how thawed (or not) the contents of that freezer got. Ice cubes are stored in the regular freezer in the kitchen - those did melt (not completely, but quite a bit), so I'm good with knowing that freezer's contents are no good. But the upright second freezer is bigger, opens less frequently, and was quite full of just meats and veggies. I'm inclined to believe it stayed cool even if not completely frozen.

I cringed dumping out multiple containers of heavy cream from my fridge this morning. That stuff's not cheap! Also trashed: lunch meats, restaurant leftovers, sour cream, hard boiled eggs, cheeses that had been opened...I'm keeping the packaged cheeses that are still fully sealed/never opened. I'm also keeping butter, as I grew up with butter in a butter dish out on the counter in the kitchen, not refrigerated, for days at a time, so I think that's okay.

If nothing else, at least most of the junk food is now gone from my kitchen :P

Oh, and Friday, I got a sandwich from the cafe in my office building for lunch, and I opened it up to put more mayo on it, and there was BLUE MOLD on the edge of the cheese! Yesterday, we tried to order dinner from Pizza Hut, and they were closed due to the power outage. Instead, we ordered from a diner that delivers to our house, and we included milkshakes in our order, and then they called us to say they had no ice cream (all melted when the power was out), so no milkshakes. The universe is trying to tell me to eat healthier!
