It's amazing what the kids find as their happy place.
Just got home from helping out at my church - my feet are dying. Sam fell asleep on ride home. Debating waking him to try to feed him - maybe I will wait a half hour. Give myself a little down time. |

Well, low-carbing gets put on the back burner again. I made it 2 whole days and had done well today until this evening when we stopped at McD's for dinner, which was not planned...I'd had a pork loin in the oven for dinner that ws haf cooked when my sister called me hysterical a little before 5:30pm to tell me our father died. Those words are still hard for me to type and impossible for me to say out loud. This was 110% unexpected; he didn't so much as have a cold recently. My mother came home from work and found him face down on the floor in their bedroom doorway. No autopsy for "natural causes;" just assumed heart attack or aneurism. He had a history of high blood pressure but was controlled with meds. I'm so glad I called and talked to him just yesterday afternoon. Packed up and drove the 4 hours to my mom's house with my husband, baby, and 2 dogs. We got here at about 12:30am. Certainly not how I planned Ben's first overnight trip away from home.

I lost my father at the end of February, also unexpected. I still cannot really believe he is not here. I will never be the same person again. I miss him so much. I am so sorry for the pain you are in right now, those first few days are just awful.

Thanks so much, everyone. We're having a brief sort of informal service (more like calling hours or a wake) on Tuesday evening, so we will be here at my mom's until we head home on Wednesday. I was sort of in zombie mode while packing and didn't know how long we would be here, so we'll need to go to Target or something today for a few things (like a more appropriate shirt for me to wear to the service - I just grabbed some casual t-shirts). Even my husband was shocked and didn't pack ANY pants for himself!
Luckily, Ben is a really great baby. It was about a 4-hour drive to get here Thursday night, so we left around 8pm after he'd had a bottle and I had changed his diaper and put him in his pajamas. He was quietly awake for a little while in the car at first but then slept almost the entire way; he woke up a little after midnight when we were just a few miles frommy mom's, so we fed him as soon as we got here, and then he went back to sleep until about 6:30am. This is his first trip overnight away from home, but he's still been eating and sleeping completely normally. We have a pack n' play borrowed from friends down here, so he sleeps in that in our room (my moms guest room), and I did remember to grab his white noise thingy and his blankets, so we have as much of his normal home stuff as possible. Right now, he's sleeping on my mom's living room floor on his Boppy lounger. Him being here is very helpful; as my aunt said yesterday, it's good for the soul. She's so right - he'll never know how much his little coos and smiles help at a time like this, especially for my mom (his Mimi). I'm not a religious person, but I don't know what else to call him but an absolute blessing ![]() I'm glad my dad got to see Ben a few times, and I'm glad we'd decided to use my dad's name as Ben's middle name, which had brought a tear to my dad's eye when he found out. We have a picture of my dad holding Ben asleep on his shoulder. I think it was taken on a cell phone, so not sure about the quality, but I'm going to have it made as big as we can without it looking too grainy (hoping for an 8x10) and frame it for my living room wall. Carlini - love your avatar photo He is adorable!! And I love the dragon with him. |

I was so upset that my father passed before seeing James, you are lucky you have that memory. We also used my father's name as his middle name.
It does get easier with time. |

We knew we wanted to use either my father's name or my grandfather's name as his middle name, whichever one worked better with the first name we decided on. I'm just really glad now that it ended up being my father's and I was able to express my love for him in that way not knowing we would have such little time left. I know it touched him.

We ended using my grandfather's name as the first name and his middle name Alexander is a way to get Alice into a male name (my grandmother). We decided in the delivery room whether Samuel was a first or middle name.

Dp-poor baby! Hope he is feeling better quick"
Happycat - the beast is a dragon. My DH loves dungeons and dragons - the red dragon is the largest mini they created for that game. I have taken Sam's photo each month with that dragon to see how much Sam has grown. We aren't sports fans so...lol I am on day 3 of a sore throat. Sigh. Just hoping I don't pass it to Sam. Lots of fluids and Sam was sweet realized I needed lots of rest so he fell asleep at 10:30 woke at 4:15 for feeding back tobed before 5 and slept to about 8:45 ![]()

Hey everyone! Im Lindsey! Im 28..soon to be 29, preggers with our first child. I initially did Atkins back in 2005 and lost 130 lbs and have kept it off by maintaining a LC lifestyle until I got prego. I have gained about 40 or so lbs (prolly will be more by his due date.. 6/27) and I will be starting induction once I get home from the hospital. I suppose Ill have to wait about a week or so til I feel completely up to it. Anywho... I swear by eating low carb and I cant wait to be back in the swing of things and get down to my pre-pregnancy weight! Is there a specific page for ladies trying to lose post pregnancy weight? Id also love any advice yall have! Nice to meet you!

awww thats encouraging tho that u felt better after only a few days. I go in on a Wedn and am hoping to be out by Sat tops. But I guess we'll see. Im lucky enough to have my fam around to help. We live in Texas but im originally from OH. So my Mom is flyin in the day before and is staying like 3 weeks (Dad is comin but only for a few days cuz he has to work). Lol its my moms first grandkid so shes so excited to be able to help. I will def be appreciatin it..esp with the lifting and stuff. Hubby will be around for abt a week but ya know..moms know more what to do that first cpl weeks lol. I am tryin to make sure I have everything set up for ease..like having a changing station downstairs and upstairs to minimize trips up and down the stairs. Hopefully that will work and alil resting teh first day home

I felt so awful for my little one today. Constipation is not fun.
I made more pears today. This time I steamed them a bit before mashing - I am much happier with the consistency. |
