***Expecting Mommies - April 2011***
Hi all! I noticed people were still posting on last month's thread, so I thought I'd make a new one. I know I haven't posted much (been super busy) but am trying to be more active on here because it is such great support.
How is everyone? I hope everyone is doing well and getting round in the belly! Tomorrow will be 24 weeks! We found out a month ago we are having a boy!! Had my fingers crossed, so very happy about this. I think I've posted that I was dx with GD around 15 or 16 weeks. I have since been put on long-acting insulin at night to help with my fasting numbers and have managed my meal numbers through diet. I am hitting the stage of the pregnancy where the insulin resistance will really kick in, so I have to remind myself that I can do everything right and still might have some bad numbers. The GD diet has been pretty easy, but I am starting get bored...and a little jealous...I know I will be happy that this will help limit the weight, but man oh man I would have really killed for a Shamrock Shake last month!!! As for the weight, I had put on about 25 in less than three months (prior to the GD dx). Since then, I've fluctuated between 2 and 5 more lbs (over the last 8 weeks). Have started to retain some water when I over do it physically, and I think that accounts for some of the higher weights. Drinking a lot of water, propel, and supplementing with Vitamins D, B6 and magnesium to try to keep the swelling under control. I am also going to try to start skin brushing again, for both toxin removal and to keep the skin nice and healthy (and pliant, as this stomach gets bigger and bigger!!) |

HI all - just one month in.
![]() ![]() Been struggling with eating enough carbs throughout the day. I am also finding that late afternoon/dinner time I start to get a very "full" icky feeling and that puts me off from eating much more. I may have to start eating a bigger breakfast - not sure how I will fit that in with work. I also find that I am getting more and more tired easily. This week coming up is going to be hectic with my family in town for a wedding. The following week is spring break so I plan to get plenty of rest! Hope all are well.

Good evening!
Well, I'm still the same, for the most part-- exhausted and naseated, and no sleep. This weekend I caught some stomach virus AND a cold, so it was pretty ugly I actually made myself completely hoarse from vomiting so much ![]() I've got about 5 1/2 weeks left. Had a baby/labor class this past weekend with my "coach"... since I have no idea if my husband will be there, and I really don't care at this point... I think in a couple of weeks my best friend will be moving in with me and my daughter, so she can be here and be ready whenever Peanut decides to make his appearance. I also think I have the name picked out... sort of. I've narrowed it down to about three, all with the same middle name. Who knows? I might just wait to see how his personality is when he comes, although he's got plenty of it right now I have my 3d ultrasound this Friday (better late than never) so I'll get to see him up close and personal. Just hope it's not too late to get a good look at his face...

Only 5 1/2 weeks left, Cat? I am so jealous! I have over three months to go and let me tell you, I am SICK of being pregnant! I'm not looking forward to being hugely pregnant during the summer either, as summers here are hot and humid and icky.
I am looking forward to meeting our new little girl, though. Having a baby again is going to be almost surreal. |

LOL I remember being where you are and being jealous of everyone else already having their babies! I know what you mean about the summers, though, they are brutal on preggo ladies! I was going into my third trimester at the end of the summer with DD, but our summer weather here lasts until about late September, and I was due first week of November. So it wasn't TOO bad, but I was still not happy with it...
Hang in there! |

Well - at my 27 week sono the CPC was still there. I meet with my midwife tomorrow to see what that means. I also have my GD test. I'm still eating INSANE amounts of fruit - I wonder if that will affect it?
I'm starting to feel very stretched and heavy too. 11 more weeks! |

Hey Garden
what size was the CPC? I saw you posted and so went to do some research. Honestly, I had never heard of that before until I read your post. Are you doing your birth with a midwife? My little sister is due in three weeks, and she's doing a home birth with midwives and stuff. It makes me a little nervous for her (just because she's my little sister) but they live right across the street from an ER, so that makes me feel a little better about it.When I was preggo with DD, I ate SOOO much fruit. Especially watermelon. And I was negative for GD. I was worried about it this time, cuz I'm bigger than I was with DD, but it was negative too. From what the OB told me, what you eat throughout the pregnancy won't affect it. But what you eat BEFORE the test can, so they recommend you fast the morning/day of the test. Hang in there! Just think, almost 3/4 the way through! |

Glad it's not pre-e, but that testing is such a pain!!! I had a similar experience with my son -- fortunately I was 37 weeks so they just induced me and that was that. Not idea, but at least it got them off my back!
I'm doing well, knock on wood. I "popped" last week and am shocked at how big my tummy is -- didn't show this much at 21 weeks last time! I think the stretch marks are beginning to appear... ![]() I'm eating too many carbs (around 140-150 a day), and really need to buckle down and cut back -- weight gain is OK for the moment though. I think I've gained 11 pounds so far. The pace is picking up, though, so I'll need to watch it. The u/s went great -- looks like a girl!!! I'm loving my homebirth midwife and keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well and I get to have this little empress at home. How's everyone doing?

I hope everything works out for your homebirth, Leah. After all the scares my little sister had, she finally had the baby yesterday- a little Easter baby! Well, I say little, she was almost 8lbs, but my sister was able to have her at home, with no meds and no complications, just like she wanted.
As for me.... more testing to be done today As for my WOE... I just gave up. No matter how hard I tried, I just kept gaining and gaining. So now I just don't care. |

So now I have to get monitored twice a week with NSTs and urine/blood samples. Plus my regular appts, too.
not fun. The OB says if I don't improve, then she'll put me on bed rest at my next appt. By then I was like, fine. I don't even care anymore. By then I'll be ready to just lay around for a couple of weeks, maybe actually get in some REAL sleep! It's like 4:30am right now, and I've already been up since 3. I had 3 contractions yesterday. Not the BH ones, the real ones. But they went away, so I'm good for now. I'm just hoping Peanut waits til after the baby shower next Saturday- I'd rather not go into labor at my own shower ![]() |

Cat, I'm sorry to hear these last weeks are so miserable! Yuck. The insomnia part is NO FUN, either. Nothing is more frustrating than being tired but not being able to sleep.
Well, I'm packing on pounds like a fiend now. Sigh. What I eat doesn't seem to matter as much as it should, either. I guess sometimes our bodies just decide to be obnoxious. Can't wait to see how big I am by late summer -- and for the inevitable, oncoming thigh chafe that I am sure I'll be enjoying! Aren't I a bundle of cheer today? |

well, I"ll be joining everyone... took a test and it was certainly positive. I think I'm around 5 weeks based on my calculations. Not too many signs, just been unable to run 3 miles for the last week or so and I was wondering what was going on that I just got so drained. I was losing just fine too. I have to read up b/c there are so many acronyms that I don't know. Little overwhelmed right now.

Hey all - I'm at 9 weeks. Trying to make sure I get enough healthy carbs each day is such a challenge. Thankfully the only "morning" sickness I've had is this very strong nausea feeling around 5 PM each day. Other than that just being exhausted!! I have my first OB appt this Friday.

ladies, and congrats!! This is such an exciting time! Awww Leah!! I hear ya about the thigh chafe-- I'm totally there I completely gave up on the trying to eat LC. I tried so hard, and then gained 14lbs in one month, so after that, I was like, screw it. I have decided that once Peanut arrives, I am COMPLETELY giving up soda. No regular soda, no diet soda, no coke zero, NADA. It's not good for me, and it doesn't help me at all. So I don't need it. My best friend moved in with me to help me out for a couple of weeks before the birth, and then for a couple weeks afterwards. I'm putting in an order to Netrition, and my friend will help me prep and freeze a bunch of LC stuff so that when I come home, I can start up on maintenance levels, and then slowly lower the carbs once I've established my milk. I am sooooo ready for this baby to come out! 20 more days til my due date!!!! |
