So how is everyone doing?

Things are good over here. Lots and lots of baby movement the last couple of weeks. DH even got kicked in the side of the head when he was trying to listen. I have my 24 wk appt next Wed and I think I may be up another pound or two. Im ok with it though. I think!

I haven't posted in forever! Sorry, I have been so busy. We moved, school started, and on and on.

Glad to see everyone is doing good. I am at 16 weeks now. I have gained 3 pounds so far. Felt some flutters, but nothing big so far. Ultrasound in 4 weeks and we get to see if its pink or blue!

Happy October, everyone!!

Hi girls. Do you mind if I join? I could really use some advise/encouragement with this pregnancy. I'm 17 weeks along, and I've already gained about 20 lbs. This is baby #4, and I usually gain 40-50lbs., but I would love to keep my weight gain to less than 30 because I had such a hard time losing it with the last one. So any tips, advice, menus, etc. would be welcome. Thanks in advance. BTW.. Congratulations!

I am 18 weeks, 5 days today and as of this morning I have gained 19.6 pounds. I had better stop gaining so much or my little princess is going to be a little porker when she comes out.

Hi everyone,
We are back from my son's surgery and my grandfathers funeral.
I'm still exhausted from it all but we are all on the mend. Scared to step on the scale because it's been about 3weeks of just getting by, not paying much attention to my eating.
I'm sooo looking forward to getting back to our nomal routine. I miss my water aerobics class! Hope to get back to it next Thursday if my son is doing ok.

Alaina, me and my baby are going to be porkers.. Lol.. I think i better go check out Fawn's website, and figure out what I need to do. I hate gaining this much weight, especially since I'm only 5'3".

I am also 5'3. I am aiming for keeping it under 25 pounds this time. Last time I put on over 40 and seemed to keep it all. Doc told me to make it a very nutritious 2200 calories. I am keeping it at that and making sure I don't go over 100 carbs. I am trying hard to keep up with the water too, but it isn't easy. Those Hostess frosted mini donuts call to me in my sleep. I have opted to not count anything at all on the weekends so I don't feel so deprived all the time and binge. Seems to be working.

Alania - Congrats on the baby girl!

OurLovesFrom Above - Yep, I think you are next!

Sunnie - Good to "see" ya! You sound like you are doing well.

Terra - Everyone gains differently. I wouldnt worry about it.

Kerri Jo!

reedawn - Glad you made it home and are on the mend.

I had my 24 wk appt and I am up another 2 lbs so that is a total of 6lbs. Not bad! My Dr. hasnt even mentioned my weight so she must be happy too. Everything looks good so far. I have the 1hr Glucose test next time at 28 wks so keep your fingers crossed that I pass! It makes me nervous drinking all that sugar. I hope my body doesnt freak out.

Hi everyone!

I'm here....a little over 28 weeks now.

I had a check-up, ultrasound and glucose test last Friday. I failed my glucose test pretty badly....they said levels should be 130 and I was at 193. I have my 3 hour test scheduled for Friday morning. I didn't have it with DD so we'll see if this one is different.

The ultrasound was to check growith because of my high blood pressure. Baby is growing great. It's 2lbs 14oz right now and in the 70% growth range for it's age. The heartbeat was 147.

My bp was high when I got there (164/76) but went down some after the ultrasound (145/72). I'm going back in 2 weeks to get that re-checked and see if they need to adjust my meds. My readings are all really good at home and I brought him those to show him. I know I get really worked up going to the Dr and can feel myself getting stressed.

He said we'll probably schedule my c-section at the next appt. too after we see what my blood pressure is doing.

Paula - my bp has been all over the place. It is always in the high end of the normal range so they dont say much but it does move around a lot. My bottom number has been consistent but the top number has jumped from 120 to 140 and back and everywhere in between. I get nervous when I go to the Dr. office too. Im just really touchy about my weight and bp but what did I expect? I was overweight when I got pg, its no secret.

Im thinking of dropping my serving of carbs at dinner until this glucose test is behind me. Yet another thing to be nervous about.

I developed PIH and eventually preeclampsia with DD, and my high blood pressure hung on after delivery (high bp runs in my family). I'm on a low dose of meds for it right now.

I told the Dr that I know what the signs are of trouble, and I'm not having them. By this time with DD I was swelling up crazy, having weird vission and high blood pressure that wouldn't even come down while laying down.

Now, I rarely swell up (unless I'm in a hot environment or been sitting at my desk all day), but it goes down after a while. My blood pressures have been really good at home.

I can feel myself getting all panicky before an appt. He tells me to just not do that I'm not a big fan of this OB, but I have to see him because I'm high risk. I can't wait to get back to my family Dr whom I love.

(((Paula))) My biggest fear is preeclampsia - my mother had it pretty bad when she was pregnant with my brother and I. I already have high blood pressure (has nothing to do with the pregnancy) so that makes me even more nervous. At my appointment this morning it was 114/74, a far cry from my normal 140/110.

As a side note, I am way irritated - on the doctor's scale I weighed 14 pounds more than I did this morning on my home scale!

Lol Sunny, those mini donuts call to me also .

Andi you have been doing so great I bet you will do fine with the glucose test.
I was amazed I passed mine after being diagnosed type 2 a year ago.

Paula, I know alot of people that have failed the first test and passed the 3 hour. Hoping this is the case for you!

Alania, that really stinks about the scales. It would frustrate me also.

Well, my son is healing nicely, family stuff seems to have settled down since my grandfather passed and no more out of town specialist appt.s till the end of the month.
So, back to our "normal" life. Back to water aerobics today and back to lowering my carb intake after 3 weeks of not giving a darn.

Does anyone know if they started that post pregnancy weight loss thread yet? I'll take a look later and see.

Hi ladies!

Alania - I would be p!ssed too! I wonder what happened? Their scale must be way off.

reedawn - Glad your son is doing well. Have fun at water aerobics, I have my first class tonight! I'll let you know how it goes.

So I ordered a Motherhood maternity swimsuit in my usual size. It came yesterday and it is HUGE! Does their stuff typically run big? I dont have a lot of experience in maternity clothes, I only have 2 pairs of jeans from JC Penney so far  and they fit fine. I dont think I can even make it work, it is so big. Bummer! At least my regular suit fits ok right now so I can get to my water aerobics class.

Andi, I have a motherhood maternaty suit also and it fits ok except the chest area is to big. Seems they think plus size + pregnant = big boobs. Well not in my case. But it works ok.

I can't get any of the maternaty jeans I have tried to work for me lately. The mid belly ones I was wearing are to tight around my belly know. The full belly ones won't stay up, they fall down. Grrr....I really don't want to wear nothing but yoga pants and t's for the next two months but that may be what I have to do.
I'm going to try a style that has the full belly with a drawstring and see if those work.
Hope so, I love jeans.
I have an appt today. Scared to see what the scale says. Wondering if I can undo the damage I have done over the last3 weeks.

reedawn - good luck with your appt today!

I had my first water aerobics class last night and it was awesome! I left there super tired and feeling good. So that will be my deal on Tue and Thu nights. Oh, and everyone wasnt super old like I thought. They were more like my parents age, 50ish. They were fun too so that was cool.

Thanks for this, Wifey! Good info. I'm frustrated. I'm not down as many lbs as I would like to be at 3.5 weeks postpartum. I guess I expected it to come off faster than it is. Its still better than previous pregnancies, but I want to get down to a lower ideal weight than what I was when I got pregnant, so its feeling overwhelming to me. Plus, Halloween and then the big food holidays are just around the corner...I'm in a hurry to make some serious progress. I'm following WW with the nursing points (and keeping a close eye on carbs), so I think I'm safe as far as dieting within that first 8 weeks.

Wifey, what are you doing now, foodwise? I cannot believe how many lbs you have lost so quickly!

Well, looks like I failed the 3-hour GD test Friday. My Dr. left a message on my phone for me Friday letting me know, and that he called in a prescription for a monitor and everything to the pharmacy. I have an appt. tomorrow afternoon with the diabetes conselor, then I'll probably end up doing some grocery shopping for different food.

Awwwww, Paula what a bummer! Good luck on changing your diet. Hopefully thats all that is needed.

So I woke up at 1am with a terrible pain in my upper stomach, like my sternum area, and eventually threw up a couple times. I never throw up so that was weird for me. I thought maybe it was horrible indigestion but Im not really sure. I stayed awake until 7am with on and off pain. I finally fell asleep then called my doc when I woke up and they asked if I could feel the baby moving around and I could. I was also feeling a ton better so I opted not to go in but they told me I could if I needed peace of mind. I tried to eat some crackers and drink some 7-up this afternoon but the pain came back and I ended up throwing that up too. Any idea what it could be? We didnt eat out at all this weekend and DH and I ate the same things so I doubt its food poisoning. Ive just been drinking water and had a no sugar added popsicle that seems to be sitting well so far.
