Hey ladies. Day 8 in the hospital. I've been given a due date/induction date for Dylan. We are scheduled for induction on November 11th. So only 9 more days to go. It sounds so far but I'm going to try to use these next 9 days to read, think, watch t.v., rest, etc. and be as positive as possible. 9 days until I meet my baby.

I go down on the 10th to L&D for cervidil in the evening. Then I'll stay there until we start pit on the 11th in the AM. Hopefully he decides he's ready to come out and he greets us w/o too much pain. My family is already making plans to come and join us so that's exciting too.

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Amber- Good to hear Dylan is still baking! Hang in there!

Susie- If you feel like updating, I'm having 2 girls.

Not much happening here. Did not get the nursery painted, but MIL is coming down in 2 weeks and I'm going to have her help me with it. DH is fighting a cold and is just too busy these days with work and school and I'm finding I'm starting to tire pretty easily.

I can't even begin to think about a nursery. I have decided to wait until the 20week ultrasound. Hopefully the baby will be cooperating and we will be able to see if we are having a boy or girl. THEN the big work starts. Right now the room is used for my husbands office/trophy/decorate however you want room. It's going to be a chore. Ugh!!!

Just to let you all know that my son Samuel has arrived

went in on tuesday Oct 20th to have cervadil inserted to start an induction (due to high blood pressure). That night was pretty uneventful, didn't sleep, was too excited/crampy. At my hospital anyways they do not give any pain relief or sleep aids during the cervadil phase. After 12 hours of cervadil (and at the end of 12 hours, those contractions were getting painful, I was not tolerating staying in bed anymore at this point and was constantly walking or sitting in a rocking chair) I was dialated to a 2. However they had no birthing rooms available so they made the decision to give me another round of cervadil to keep ripening my cervix. My hopes of a quick easy induction started to fade. I stayed like this until 8pm (nearly 24 hours of cervadil at this point and intense crampy feelings leaving me unable to rest). Finally a birthing room opens up and I am hooked up to the pitocin. At this point everyone is telling me, 2nd birth, soft cervix, you'll be done in 3-4 hours easy. Sooooo, get the epidural, and things are great. But midnight comes around and I'm like at a 4. So we continue, and I keep thinking well it'll happen all at once. And wait. And wait. To the point where the epidural wears off and they have to keep readministering it. Finally the epidural is no longer offering any relief, I feel incredible pressure, they gave me another medicine, and once again I felt fine. Dialated to an 8 by 8 or 9 am. And there I stay. The baby is not positioned right and won't enter the birth canal. They have me try pushing anyways, they make me shift positions, get on all fours, anything to change the position but he wasn't budging. The pain got really bad and nothing they were giving me anymore was really helping, the decision was made that a C section was needed due to non progression. At 4:36pm on October 22nd Samuel was born, a whopping 9 pounds 14 ounces. No use for all the cute newborn clothing, he's the size of a 3 month old . C section was such a relief from the pain, I have been so surprised at how relatively easy it's been compared to the hell of laboring for hours and hours with no end in sight. He had jaundice so he needed to stay one extra night at the nursery after I was discharged, that made me a sobbing mess. Only one day but it felt like the end of the world that I couldn't bring my baby home with me (at that time we didn't know how long it would be).

Anyways, 11 days post op now and I'm feeling fine, going up and down stairs without any discomfort, as I said, I have been very surprised at how well i'm recovering from this considering that i'm a huge wimp. I got discharged 3 days post op and since then i've only needed advil, and I haven't even taken that in the past 3-4 days. (Also, that painless yet pressure feeling in the C section is the most disgusting feeling ever. Especially when you hear the doctors casually discuss that your intestine just slipped out.)

Here are some pictures:

Hey ladies. Just checking in. 8 days until Dylan's arrival! Woot!! Susie - thanks for keeping the list and for the countdown. I love it!!

Nothing too exciting happened today. DH came by with dinner and we hung out about 2 hours and then he had to leave to take care of our doggie. So now I am just sitting and waiting for the next event in my day. They come around 7:30pm to do a NST each night so that's my next big thing. Then at 8pm it's The Biggest Loser on TV. So that will kill 2 hours. Then they give me meds at 10pm and then sleep. I'm exhausted even though I do nothing but lay around, read, watch t.v., daydream, etc. It's crazy how doing nothing can be so tiring.

Julie - congratulations! He is beautiful!

-ing for you Amber!!!!
Hang in there!!!!

Hi to All!!

I am doing well. Trying to figure out something fun to do this weekend that doesn't cost very much. If I can drag the hubby away from college football on Sat and Nascar on Sun, I'm thinking the mountains might be kinda fun. In Big Bear, CA there is this fantastic year round Christmas Shoppe. It reminds me of Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg, Germany.

I hope everyone is thriving and well.
(((hugs)))

Yay!! 7 Days!!

Susie - I think going to that Christmas shop sounds so much fun. I'd love to go with ya if I could. Christmas is my favorite holiday and winter is my favorite season so I bet it would be fun to browse through all that stuff.

I had a wheelchair ride today and it raised my BP so much. I'm surprised but they still said I could go again if I wanted. It went from nice and healthy to borderline scary just from being wheeled around and seeing the sun. I guess I got too excited. I guess that's what happens when you are stuck in one room for 9 days! It's coming back down now that I've returned to my bed.

I hope everyone is doing well.

DAY 6 DYLAN COUNTDOWN!!!!!

Amber, Amber, Amber!!!!!!!
Hang in there dear lady. I know you've got to be getting horrible restless.
Shame, shame, shame....no more poppin' wheelies on the wheel chair!!!!

How is everyone? I hope all is well.

Today is my short Friday. I think I am going down the hill (we're pretty isolated in the high desert) to go to the BIG health food store, Christian Book Store and maybe see what kind of one of a kind Christmas beauties the upper crusty boutiques of Redlands have to offer. I only have a certain number of stops, though. When Lily is with me she will start to pitch a HUGE fit if she has to get out of her car seat too much.
I got a WONDERFUL Christmas CD yesterday at Costco. "Cool Yule" It's a three disc of all the old-timers. Bing, Ella, Frank, Perry....Awesome!!!!
I Christmas!!!!

Again, Amber and everyone else.

Bobbi - I don't know. I don't feel different. They are monitoring me every 3 hours for my vitals and I was talking happily with my aunt and they came in and took my BP. It was very high. I felt normal though. It's just going up because of my pregnancy at this point. Sometimes I get a headache and sometimes I get some small visual disturbances (like little stars if I sit too fast) but that's it. Nothing major. I woudn't have a clue about the BP if they weren't monitoring me.

Susie - have fun today!! It sounds like a great day!!

6 days!! 5 days until I find out if I need the cervadil and start that. I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready and excited.

I need some honest thoughts and opinions here- am I being a wimp?

As of yesterday, I'm now 22 weeks pregnant. Both babies are measuring right on track, and as of my ultrasound 2 weeks ago my cervix looked good- ie long and closed. BUT- I'm really starting to feel this pregnancy, especially the days that I work. I work at a hospital, and do 2 12 hour shifts per week, on Thursdays and Fridays. I'm on my feet most of the day, and have worn a pedometer before. I seem to walk roughly 10 miles per shift.

*commence whine*
Pre-pregnancy, this wasn't a problem. The last 2 weeks though, things have gotten harder. My back hurts from my office chair, my hips hurt from walking, and my ankles are the size of baseballs by the time I get home at night. Thursday nights, I get home at 8pm, eat something quick, take a bath to help with the aches and pains, and head straight to bed so I can get up at 5:30am and do it all over again on Friday. I've gone from sleeping 8-9 hours Friday night to sleeping 10-11 hours, just to try and recover. I'm now needing to take it very easy on Saturday to keep my ankles from re-swelling.

At what point is enough, enough? My boss is not willing to discuss shortening my days to 8 or 10 hours at this time, and there is no way for me to cut down my milage. So I will need to get my OB to write me out completely, which he's told me is at my discretion until he sees a medical reason for me to leave work. My benefits will cover all of my pre-baby leave at 60%, plus pay me 60% for 8 weeks post delivery. I also have roughly 5 weeks of vacation time to round out my post delivery time to a full 12 weeks off.

They hired my temp replacement 2 weeks ago, but she has another month of training before she's ready to take on shifts alone. WWYD?

Jessica - Not that I have to tell you, but a twin pregnancy is so much harder on your body than a singleton. I'm so sorry for your aches and pains. Don't ever feel bad about complaining. It can be hard.

Is there any way you can spread out your 2-12 hour shifts? Instead of having them back to back, maybe can you have a day or two inbetween with shorter shifts inbetween? I think the back-to-back nature of those shifts is compounding the difficulties. Also, once your replacement is trained, I'd talk to your boss again about reducing those shifts to more reasonable hours and/or taking off some extra time before your due date. If you can take unlimited time off before baby, talk to your doctor about getting a note for reduced hours or early leave.

Jessica... if you are a wimp than I am a....complete and utter pansy....

I work at home 32 hours a week and sit on my butt all day. My biggest energy expenditure is walking up and down my stairs to my fridge and let the dogs out. I *do* have a big house but still... I wasn't in that great of shape physically when I got pregnant and was/am overweight by a good 50lbs. AND I have ONE baby. That being said... your schedule would kill me... working and making dinner or running some errands is the limit of my endurance. Heck doing all my errands/shopping on Sunday completely wipes me and I need a nap.

You are not a wimp... you have TWO babies taking everything you have. I can't believe your boss won't let you reduce hours from 12.. that is crazy.... I worked with a girl when I was in college that got horribly swollen ankles from standing as a grocery cashier. She would be in tears at the end of an 8 hour shift.... I felt soooo bad for her but she had to work. If you can afford it and your boss continues to be a butthead then I would take the leave. Your issues are ONLY going to get worse. Right now you can deal and they aren't too dangerous. Soon, they may become DANGEROUS.

You are not a wimp... you make ME look bad... real bad...

:c lap:

Amber, Mathematically speaking, you can start rounding down to zero now.
Hang in there.

Jessica,
Wimp? No way!!!! Your body is in charge of growing and carrying two babies. One is hard enough for me. I can't even imagine. Is there a way your doc could write you a note for modified work duties so you wouldn't have to do so many hours? It's just a thought. With your ankles swelling like they are, you need to be really careful. I am surprised a hospital would accommodate your pregnancy and shorten your days.
I hope everything works out.

How are you doing Bobbi? Hope all is well.

Hi to everyone else.

Didn't get down the hill yesterday. Huge sig alert on the pass. Didn't want to risk it. I think I have talked hubby into going to the Mts. tomorrow. I am having 2nd thoughts and am thinking I would like to go to the Orange County Swap Meet instead. It's HUGE!!!!! If you don't mind impostors, you can get some really decent things. I need to start Christmas Shopping; BAD!!!!

Hi Susie... doing well... 26 weeks... I just got signed up for birth classes starting next week. This lady does an 8 week course that covers labor, labor decisions, postpartum, breastfeeding, etc. So...we go on Weds starting next week for 8 weeks. That will be good. Gotta start getting my ducks in order!

I've had a couple of 'OMG... we have nothing ready yet' feelings...

How is everyone?

I am doing pretty good this morning. Our plans to go to the Mts. I think have been shot down. Joe is being Joe. There is still hope. It's only 7:00am here. We'll see. I am going to go and get ready just in case. That might guilt him into changing his mind? I HATE sitting around the house on the weekends!

Yay!! Day 3!!

I'm doing good. I'm getting super excited to get the show on the road. The doctor on call today told me to expect blood work tomorrow and an internal on Tuesday. So fun stuff to look forward to! haha. I'm actually looking forward to anything at this point because it's one small step closer to meeting Dylan. I am just hoping and praying that the induction goes well and that he arrives safely. I've been having dreams lately of bringing him home and taking care of an infant. It's weird to think about that still. This has been a very long journey for me.

Susie - thanks for cheering me on. I hope your husband gets his booty in gear and does something fun with you today. Is the weather there nice? How's your daughter doing with you being pregnant? Is she aware of it yet?

2 Days!!

I'm only 2 days from my induction now. I think they'll do my internal to check my cervix today or tomorrow. I'm still waiting on the doctor to come and see me this morning to give me my update. DH is stressing big time. I'm exhausted for some reason. So we're both a mess.

I hope everyone has a great day!

DAY 2 Dylan COUNTDOWN!!!!!

That's just today and tomorrow Amber!!! Hang in there.
You will be back at home with little Dylan in your arms soon enough!!!
for you!!!!

I'm not doing the best.
Husband and I got into a HUGE fight yesterday for him not doing his share of the work around here. We are surely not equally yoked and being pregnant, tired and VERY emotional, I had a little breakdown yesterday.
We are still not talking.

WOE: Maintenance- Pregnant!

I'm joining in, I'm about four and a half weeks along and due around July 21. I have my first appointment with the nurse practitioner November 19 before seeing my OB. Right now the biggest update is that I want junk food and naps.

I had a fantastic pregnancy with my son (he'll be five July 8), so I'm hoping that this one is as cooperative and relaxed.
