late period & weight

I stopped taking my birth control pills in April. I haven't had a period since April. I haven't been sexually active so I didn't really care if I had a period or not. I also thought I could lose weight if I stopped taking the pill. That did not happen. I've been dieting for 3 years now and I'm fatter than I was the last time I went to the doctor in 2008. I am so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!
My doctor thinks that I may be making too much insulin and that is why I cannot lose weight. No matter what I eat, how much I exercise I cannot LOSE weight!!! It is driving me crazy. So got my blood drawn yesterday. I forget the name of the test but it tests a whole bunch of things to see why I'm not getting my period.
As much as I don't want something wrong with me, I hope they find something. I have tried my hardest to lose weight but I only gain, gain, gain.

I was just curious to see if anybody else experienced this....

yup. me...and lots of others on the PCOS thread. He is probably testing you for PCOS. and probably testing your sugar levels to see if you are diabetic. but even if your not you can still be insulin resistant. I'm not diabetic, but have excess insulin. I am on Metformin now to try to help that.

thats just my guess though....hope it all turns out ok for you.

I know that taking birth control pills can also cause hypothyroidism. You may want to get yout thyroid checked.
