ABNORMAL/LATE MENSTRAL CYCLES.

Hi everyone. I have been on Atkins for a little over a month. I am currently taking birth control pills. Last month my TOM appeared a week early. This month its a few days late. I am someone who always starts on the same day same time. Anyone else having issues with irregular mentral cycles?

Are you losing weight? Are you losing weight faster than 2-5 pounds a week? Sometimes when you're losing weight fast, your body will respond by delayed period. Sometimes as a result of stress or weight loss. It can happen when you dramatically change your eating habits.

The best bet would be to discuss it with your doctor if the problem persists or if you notice any other abnormal symptoms accompanying this one.

There are so many factors that can cause this. It can be so difficult to widdle them all down.

Stress
Diet
Over exercising
Excessive weight
Excessive under-weight
Pregnancy
Cysts
New medications or birth control

Just to name a few...

At one point I had a cyst the size of a golf ball, that the doctor could feel. I had an ultrasound, to verify it. The next month the cyst shed itself with my next period and I was back to normal again.

It's even happened to me when there was no apparent cause as well. I personally wouldn't worry too much. Worry can also be a form of stress, afterall. Although if you miss a second cycle, for sure, contact a doctor. A doctor can prescribe birth control to help reboot your cycle's too.

But try to keep in mind, that at some point in every woman's life, we all get an irregular cycle once in a while for what ever reason. As change is natural to every life.

I hope I've helped.

Thanks for all the information. It was very helpful. I am currently taking birth control pills, have been for a while, I lost 10 pounds on induction a month ago. I have stalled since, although still being on an induction menu. Beginning of induction I started a week early, and now this month over a week late. I'm blaming it on the weight loss, and low carbohydrate consumption.
Thanks so much for replying to my question!!
