Is this her first experience with BCPs? Or just this specific kind?? I think some folks might recommend she give it a few more months to see if the kinks workout (my doc recommended at least 3 months) - considering that this is a pretty major shift in hormone production.

Ortho-Novum has more ethinyl estradiol (e.e) than many other forms of BCPs (35mcg) and I think many of those symptoms (particularly the sore boobs and weight gain) could be attributed to the e.e. She may want to consider some other alternatives, for example Yasmin has 30mcg and Yaz and Alesse both have 20mcg of e.e.

I can't do ANY kind of hormones. I get so many symptoms even from my IUD. I hope she finds one that works for her. It sure does suck being a girl some times huh?

The first pill I was put on was ON 777 and I went from someone who could eat what she wanted and never gain a pound to someone who started to put on weight quickly. It also affected my mood considerably. I hope the Yaz works better for her but I would stay away from ON 777

She didn't fill her prescription for Yaz to expensive .It was $50 with insurance.
Can't afford that.Letting hubby handle birth control. She's a tiny thing but had gained probally 10lb she thought the world had came to an end. she has now lost it and back to her normal weight.

On "Ortho" products, I usually had issues. So, instead I requested a "Low-estren" kind. It alleviated most of my problems.

If hubby can take care & be responsible enough to use protection. I'd go that route. Because, I don't believe any birth control is good for you. Unless you need it to regulate cycles, or to ensure no pregnancy.
