pregnant and losing weight

Is it harmful to your unborn baby to try to lose weight while being pregnant by using low carb? Can it hurt the baby? What about all of the fruits you aren't getting? Should you add those in? Not saying that I am pregnant or anything.... just wondering what everyone thought! Thanks!!!

It wasn't harmful for me & my son. I got pregnant at 320 and weighed 305 at delivery - and I popped out a nearly-12 pound kid. (I'm diabetic) I was down to 270 just a couple of weeks after delivery. Wish I'd stayed there. lol. I can't remember the guidelines for how much was safe, but it is if you do it safely and smartly - and what's better than low-carb.

whfoods.org is a great site. Go to essential nutrients link on that site and peek at the ones that concern you. There are a lot of foods that pack a huge nutritional punch. Eat spinach, red peppers, etc. I only took prenatals. I never had problems w/ anemia, etc during that pregnancy.

I think it would depend on how overweight you were when u got pregnant.

This would be something to discuss with your doctor
