Depo Provera -- ?? (maybe TMI)
I usually just lurk here -- I've been a member for many years, and I had success with my initial loss, but like many, I made some bad choices in my WOE, and gained some back.
About a month ago, my OB-GYN diagnosed me with adenomyosis. To counteract the effects, he suggested I try a Depo-Provera shot (I don't use any birth control -- my kids are grown, and DH had that taken care of many, many years ago!) So, 3 weeks ago, I got the shot...for 2 weeks now, it's been TOM and not a little bit, either! Plus I've been having hot flashes (and normally I'm cold all the time, thanks to being hypothyroid...)On top of that, my weight loss has TOTALLY stalled. I have been recording everything in my Fitday-PC, my carbs are below 20, calories between 1100 and 1500, and the scale will not move. Has anyone had any experience with this shot? Do I have to wait for it to wear off?? Help?? |

It took 10 months to get over one shot of depo, I was in hell with it, migraines all the time..it was terrible! I hope for you it wears off really quick
the average weight gain on it is 11lb a year, versus 3.5lb a year on the pill...insane Give it 12 weeks, your body will start to get back to normal... Sorry your having to put up with the awful side effects |

I have been on the shot off and on for several years, with no effect on my weight loss. But, my care providers have always been perplexed by this like I'm some sort of anomaly.
However, I did want to say that I started LC in June and had about two weeks of bleeding (while also on the Depo). I hope yours goes away soon. |
