Review my Hormone Tests

I have been having a lot of Perimenopause symptoms so I have had some tests done. Here are the results of my hormone test. What does this mean?

Estrogen 164 (50-150)

Progesterone 18.6 (2-15)

Testosterone 56 (40-80)

I'm so confused! Out of 34 symptoms I had 28. I also had my Thyroid levels done. They only tested TSH 2.4 ( .450-4.5) and FT4 0.09 (0.61-1.76). Dr did put me on 30 mg of Armour once a day. That was 2 weeks ago I don't feel any better. Can your hormone levels being too high cause the peri symptoms as well? I don't know where to go from here, antidepressants and diet pills???

WOE: Being balanced but still..LC..all the way..
Hopefully someone can pop in and explain things better than i can but,...

Anyway,...no..no..no.. to antidepressants & diet pills!!...

My Dr. told me that just because one's levels fall within the "normal" ranges,..does NOT tell the whole story!! There are various ranges that go along with each hormonal stage during a woman's life. I Too had like 32 of the 34 symptoms and my initial levels were not too bad,..bad enough, cause I certainly felt terrible!!, but not as bad as others...Oh and my thyroid came back fine too...

Anyway I just started on BHRT and I feel much better!!! I sleep better and my horrible hot flashes are just about gone, as well as those feelings of unexplained anxiousness. I go back next week for blood work to see where I'm at now since beginning treatment. Oh and I had the pellet system..

Hopefully someone else can better explain what I am trying to say... to you...

Just to add to the above, I haven't spolen to the Dr yet. My appointment is Monday. The nurse (assuming that I am already on BHRT) said that the Dr may want to lower my dose. LOL!!! I don't take or use any. Is ther a ratio of estrogen to progesterone and if so how do you calculate it?

Being post menopausal and on BHRT, I do recommend you find a specialist on the Bio-Identical Hormones. Most 'regular' doctors do not really know about BHRT and will discourage its use. Read book by Suzanne Somers, "Ageless", whether you like her or not you will learn something. Also Google BHRT and research it. I found a dr that specializes in BHRT and 'anti-aging regenerative' medicine in my area (Mobile, AL) and it has been a very good eye-opening experience. Also, whatever lab did your tests probably has an 800 number that you can call and request explanations if your dr didn't explain well enough. If not, maybe that lab isn't the right one to use next time. Good luck!
And remember, doctors are not God--they don't know everything! You are responsible for taking care of yourself, researching and finding out whether what they tell you has merit or not.

Thanks for the replies. The Dr I went to specializes in BIHR, not just female hormones but thyroid as well. I was tested for my thyroid and found to be in the low normal range. Dr gave me a prescription for Armour Thyroid. That was almost a month ago and I am feeling so much better. Just goes to show that what’s normal for a lab may not be normal for an actual person. All my sex hormones were mid normal to high so she didn’t think that was my problem.
