new and needing to live LC

Hey all, I'm new here and also found out yesterday I need to start on a low carb diet due to my PCOS. I was put on Metformin 500mg and was also told to just exercise and cut out carbs. The only problem is I don't know where to start! I looked into Atkins and it just seems too confusing. I don't really need to lose weight, I'm on the high end of my healthy weight range for my height. Can anyone give me any advice of what I should do? Any other ladies with PCOS who have had to do the same thing? Advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hi there, I'm relatively new too I don't have PCOS but my sister has something similar. If you need to cut out carbs but don't need to lose too much weight, I would try cutting out the nasties first and see how you go on. What I mean is that there are some foods/drinks which are definite no-nos for us: 1) alcoholic drinks (usually contain a LOT of sugar); 2) sugars (glucose, sucrose, etc) and refined white flour. That equals healthy eating for most people. Then, if you find you need to cut out more carbs for your PCOS, you need to look into reducing or cutting out bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc.

Hope that helps some!

Im a Cyster too.... but I have weight to lose..

Once of the things I did when I got rid of Dairy and things that fall in the bread group.. I took one week at a time to remove the foods one meal at a time.

First week No Dairy at Breakfast
Second Week no Dairy at Breakfast and Lunch
Third Week - same as Second
Fourth Week - no Dairy

I did the same with the Bread group.. that was a little harder for me to do than the Dairy but I did it..
