Congrats Amber
!Well, I spent most of my day at the doctors office/hospital. All is well. My cervix is now closed (how ?, I don't know, but I'm giving ALL glory and praises to my Lord, Jesus Christ!), and my doctor ordered a 2nd Fetal Fibronectic test, which was negative so I am happy!! I'm taking it easy from this point on.![]() |

Thanks ladies! I ended up going shopping with my mom last night at the last minute (she was in town) and now the baby has more clothes than me. It's crazy how fast that can happen.
We are 99% sure that we are naming our son Dylan. It's a name we've both loved forever. Meek - Thank goodness. I was so worried about you. Your little one needs to cook longer. Take it easy. |

I'm going to sound like a complete rookie, but for the last few days I've had sudden cramps that literally take my breath away. They come with no warning, and are gone again after a single cramp. I seem to get them mostly in the evenings and at night and they last 5-10 seconds. Please tell me this is normal.

Jessica~That is totally normal, it's just the egg(s) burrowing in and getting comfy. It's also normal to have a dull ache (sometimes not so dull) in the ovary area for a while. Also, you may be feeling the round ligaments stretching to accomodate your growing uterus. You will have those type of cramps the whole pregnancy.

Amber~Yes, it is crazy how easy it is to buy baby stuff! I have really taken it easy with this pregnancy, I mostly hit garage sales but now I have realized I have a lot of sleepers and not very many outfits.
I really like your name choice too! Do you have a middle name picked? Does it still feel surreal to you or is it sinking in that you will be a mommy soon? Are you feeling him move yet? |

Jessica - The cramping is normal. I even occasionally had spotting with the cramping and everything was fine. Usually they say if you have both combined you are having a miscarriage but I wasn't and I know there was only one baby in there (as in I wasn't miscarrying a twin) because I had already had an ultrasound at 5 weeks 4 days. The Doctor reiterated to me that it was totally normal too when I voiced my concerns about the cramping. So hang tight I know it's hard not to worry but there's not much you can do so just think positive. My doctor did tell me not to exercise or BD until I came back to see her though. But then again I had spotting which I don't think you do.
Meek - AWESOME news!! I couldn't be more happy for you. I can't imagine the kind of worry dilation at this point would cause. Each week further I get I'm like, pheww if the baby were born now he'd probably be ok since I know this person or that person that was born at "X" amt of weeks gestation. My own husband was only 2 pounds when he was born, his mom had preeclampsia. And his aunt had triplets that were born at 31 weeks and were perfectly healthy. My SIL is a neonatal nurse and while I do hear all the horrible horror stories surrounding that, most of the mom's coming in with the really bad stories are drug addicts who's babies are not only born much too early they are addicted too. She does tell me all the good stories too of all the babies that are born early that make it with a few struggles but ultimately are fine. Disney - I just got back from VA (17 hour car ride)...you are lucky yours is only 11 because that is around when I was like "when is this ever going to end...urghh" It was better on the way there bec. I could nap with my DH driving but on the way back he wasn't with me bec. he had flown back a week before for work so I had to do it myself. My foot and calf that wasn't on the pedal, swelled but other than that I was good, stopped every couple of hours to walk around a little. Meanwhile I'm watching my sister's 18 mo old today and WOW, going to the pool with an 18mo old....not as relaxing as my 6, 7 and 8 year olds. How soon we forget right? He was up down up down, in the water out of the water over and over and over....I was worn out by the end. So was he though, we got back home and he was so ready for bed he didn't even make a peep. ![]() Well not too much going on, I'm watching her little boy today so she could take my neice (17) to New Orleans since she's never seen it before. Wish I could've gone but it's freaking hot as you know what here so probably better I didn't.

Hi ladies - I went to Walmart today to start shopping for Christian and became completely overwhelmed. I know it sounds weird - but I didn't know where to start
. So, I decided to get organized by making a list of everything I think he would need in the first 6 months and then go back next week. What do you all think are the most important things a baby would need (besides diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, baby wash, lotion, etc??) for the first 6 months. I have already selected the furniture for his nursery + the traveling system - so I'm set in the area. I haven't shopped for an infant in almost 8 years! I don't remember it being so hard back then - however, I am stressing big time now .Please hep! Thanks!

Meek~Burp cloths, bibs (for the teething drool!), pacifiers, nail clippers, thermometer, diaper creme, infant toys for tummy time....I'll keep thinking
I had my 32 week appointment today, uterus is measuring 31 weeks, I gained 1 lb. (putting me at 17 so far), h/b was 150. Not very eventful. We were supposed to discuss my birth plan but my pregnancy brain left it in the car so we will do it next time. I am buying the paint for the nursery tomorrow and the inlaws are coming over on Saturday to paint for me! It's going to be sooo cute! |

Hi Ladies -
Meek - so glad tohear the news! Amber - yay! little boy for you - I'm so pleased! Dylan was one of my top 2 names if I was having a boy - Collin was the other. Oh and Xander was in there as well. Big breakthrough today on the breastfeeding - Ada was weighed before and after eating to see how much milk she transferred and she got up over 2 ounces for the first time. This is great for her and great for me as I have only been able to pump that much a couple of times from both breasts - so we're improving. She's latching much better and I'm feeling much more sane. Katy - she must be one of your nickname relatives because one of my friends has already started calling her Ada Potata - so I think she's cousins with Katy Potaty ![]() Time to pump and sleep - OH - biggest news today - my job will no longer be available for me to return to after all. They are willing to create another full time position for me, but with much more work, a commute to San Francisco and longer days (same salary) or I have the option to go back to part time (without benefits) as I did for a couple of years before going full time. Neither are great, but they are jobs and it's better in ways than not having options. So now I have to investigate insurance and such. Hug to all -

Meek - Some items I would add to the list: Window shade(s) for the car, Baby Bjourn, Swing, Bumbo Chair, spoons, swaddlers (they are easier to bundle them up than doing it with a blanket), head support for the car seat, hand mits (they always scratch their little faces), bouncy seat, mobile, monitor.
And remember with all the cute clothes....babies grow like weeds. Sometimes you don't even get to put the outfit on before they've already outgrown it...in other words don't go crazy with the clothes buying especially NB size. One other thing on the diaper cream, down here they use Bodreaux's(sp?) Butt paste and I have to admit I like it A LOT more than Destin or Balmex. It's available at Target and probably other stores but I know I've seen it there up North. Tinker - that totally sucks about your job. Sorry to hear that. |

Hey everyone! Were all settled in with the wireless working at home. I went to my NST this week and they found out my contractions were 6 minutes apart. I had some Terb and that reacted really funny in my system. Doctor says he wont try to stop me if my body starts trying to go into labor again.
I just had my NST for today cancelled...it must be a hot day in L&D! So I grabbed some coffee and a bran muffin and came in to work. ![]() I feel good. But even when the contractions were six minutes apart I felt good. They didnt feel like "real contractions". But since then I have had four or five well spaced REAL contractions. Suddenly my last labor came back at me all at once. I had forgotten. ![]() But its gorgeous out. Im sweating like a crazy pregnant lady. We will induce on July 20 if I dont do it on my own. I am at 1 cm and soft but not effaced...the nurse before I was discharged said I will never see July 20 pregnant. heheh

Ok...caught up!
Congrats Meek. And if you can get your shopping done for the first six months then you rock...and you have more space than I do. I didnt even want to put a high chair or swing on my registry because I dont like clutter. But we have a garage now so I guess if I get them (my BFF said I just HAAAD to put a high chair and swing on the registry) then I will put them in the garage. Meek...that is a good looking travel system. Have you tested out the stroller? Nothing worse than a hard to fold stroller or one that doesnt roll well. But youve had babies...you know! I didnt register for a travel system. I got my carseat from a friend and I registered for an umbrella stroller. I plan to wear the baby when I am out (so much easier to ward off baby touchers when they are in a sling LOL). I cannot tell you how much time I spent holding a baby in one and using arm to push a stroller. I almost bought a travel system yesterday anyway though...I was on slickdeals and on July 6 they had a post that Target had the Evenflo Aura models go on clearance for 29.97 down from 160.00, I think. In the store it would be marked $89ish but when you check out it would be 40 and next week if you bring your receipt back you would be credited the other 10 bucks. I looked and NO stores near me had one. Gotta move fast, I guess. LOL My best friend is giving me her baby jogger so I can get running as soon as possible after baby is born. Gosh I miss running. Since the preggy aches set in a few weeks ago I have a new found appreciation for being able to run and hop and skip and jump...I feel like a lethargic nesting goose. I just called my doctor and left a message telling him that the hospital called and had to cancel my NST...just in case he wants to see me today. I told them that baby is kicking fine (left out the coffee part of that equation) and that I rescheduled my appointment for Sunday. Now I feel ALMOST secure that I will make it to my baby shower tomorrow. Then maybe Ill give birth tomorrow night. Although...for some reason...July 14 is really standing out to me for no good reason. Hmmm.... Gracie...you look so thin in your face in your new avatar! Jenny...congrats on surviving the pool with an 18 month old while preggo. You rock! Tink...Im sorry about your job. But it looks like you are looking at the bright side. ![]() |

Yes - Ada with a hard "a" - like in Amy. Or you can think of her as Addy too -with a soft "a" like in Annabelle

Update
Okay, so the nurse from my doctors office called to give me my test results.
protein went from 256 - to 156, and is currently 149. However... I failed the 3 hour glucouse test and have to start taking classes and have my sugar monitored at the local hospital . This all sucks!!I'm off to do research on gestational diabetes...I have no idea about it. Have a good weekend . |

Meek~ Sorry you failed the GD test. What class do you have to go to? Have they talked about putting you on the GD diet?
Amy~ That really sucks about your job. I thought the law required that you get the same job when you go back. Am I wrong about that? You may want to check with Nik on the Maya wrap. I'm pretty sure she has one.Melody~ 10 days and counting! ![]() Amber~ Dylan was one of my favorite names as well. Congrats on your little boy! Jackie~ Have a safe trip. |

Thanks Tracey! I have to take a nutritional class sometime next week. I'm sure they are going to put me on a diet. I've been doing a lot of reading and have found a support group.

Tracey - I wondered about that job thing too. But I think the law is just that they have to guarantee you have a position when you come back, it doesn't necessarily have to be the same position.
Meek - Sorry to hear the news about the gestational diabetes. I'm pretty sure the GD diet will most likely be low carb"ish". My brother has diabetes and basically it's a very low glycemic index diet. I don't even know my results yet for my test, because I still have to go for one more blood test on Monday on an empty stomach. (remember I threw up when I tried to drink the glucose drink) I guess she wasn't too worried about it since she said I could wait 3 weeks for the second draw. I tell ya almost anything gross smelling or looking makes me dry heave even at this point in my pregnancy. Yesterday I was helping my DH hold the dog while he cut her hair and the smell of the trashcan waffed by and I dry heaved and had to go inside. Then my oldest son was losing his front tooth and showed me with his tongue pushing the tooth pretty much perpendicular to his gum and I almost lost it again. WTH? This is so weird and I don't like it to say the least. So for some reason I read the blue billion baby product recall list today and it's a good thing I did, the play yard my sister gave me, The Fisher Price Safari one with the bassinet, changing table and mobile etc. is being recalled. Crappy. Oh well let's hope they replace it or give me a deep discount on another one. That was a dang nice play yard. ![]() |
