Woah, they banned colors? Hah I've been away for a bit

OK so I've had a weird week. I went to the ER on saturday because I had been having a cough for the previous week that wasn't going away, and had just developped a fever that day and was having shortness of breath (I also have asthma). Turns out I have pneumonia So I'm on sick leave this week. I must admit I initially freaked out a bit when I heard, in my mind pneumonia sounds so scary, whenever I hear people talk about it it's hospital stays etc, and then I read that it was the number 1 cause of death in pregnant women! Anyways, seems I have quite a mild case of it because other than fever, and the dry annoying cough, I'm just coughing up some of the nastiest stuff ever. Oh and I can't even climb a flight of stairs without being seriously winded, I need to rest every 4-5 stairs to not get an asthma attack. Bad thing though is that the "flu" part of it, I seem to have passed on to my daughter and husband, and my husband has been hit especially hard. He is way worse off than me and he doesn't even have pneumonia.

Anyways, I ramble. Another weird thing that happened this week due to the cough, is I've been having some incontinence issues. Which I didn't have when I was pregnant with Sarah. At first, around wednesday, if I went into a coughing fit I'd sometimes pee a few drops. But at this point, if I'm coughing, it's gushes of it. I can't *help* it, I can't hold it in. I have to wear poise pads (which are awesome but I wish I didn't need them!)

And today was my big ultrasound. Which was great and sad at the same time. My husband had taken the day off of work so we could go. But then of course I got pneumonia, and got Sarah sick, and she couldn't go to daycare. And then my husband was too sick to drive us to the ultrasound. So I had to have my mother drive over here to pick me and my daughter up to take us to the ultrasound, so my husband didn't even get to see it Everything was great, baby is in great shape, measures exactly right (1 day early from my EDD so near spot on), and it's a BOY.

And I'm happy, and stressed. I was sort of hoping that it would be a girl, if only because I have a ton of girl clothes and my daughter is SUCH a joy. I know that having a son will be just as wonderful, but it's an unknown Also, I was looking online at boy clothes and it seems to be all footballs and baseballs and ugh. blech sports. And looking through hundreds of boy names, and nothing clicks. I find girl names are much easier! Well, we have a middle name picked out, it will probably be Ray, after my father, and my husband's mother (her middle name is Rae).

Anyways, sorry for rambling, sleep has been erratic this week and my mind is all over the place

(Also my breasts started leaking this week! and I'm only at 20 weeks, not looking forward to having to wear a nursing bra to bed for that long!)

Jenny~I hadn't heard that about craigslist. That happened in Missouri a few years ago too, not from craigslist but from a dog breeder bulletin board. Scary thing is, I know a woman IRL that has faked 2 pregnancies. One she faked with twins all the way until the 7th month when they were "stillborn." For that reason, I am very careful of inquisitive strangers, am vague about my DD, and just generally paranoid. My paranoia isn't as bad as last time, but it's still there. Also the same reason I don't allow baby announcement signs in my yard.

I even messaged a girl on CL last week who was trying to give away free food from her pantry and she put that she was due in one week with a baby girl and was just clearing out stuff. I told her she should edit her ad because there are a lot of crazy people out there, I don't think she ever did.

Julie~sorry you are so sick! I had that same crap this winter! Nothing worse than being pregnant and sick, especially in the summer! And congrats on the boy!!!! I know it's an unknown, but boys are just awesome. I understand about the clothes, I didn't want sport/animal/airplane clothes either. You can find some cute stuff at Target and Kohl's sometimes, but you're right, boys stuff usually has cutesy stuff all over it. I finally gave up and will buy whatever now.

Meek: SO GLAD (but not surprised) that your pressure is coming down. Here's more unsolicited advice, besides to keep eating your eggs: if your pressure's high the first time they take it, ask the nurse to take it again after you've talked with the doctor. I have a bit of white coat syndrome, so my pressure is ALWAYS high at the beginning of the appointment. Here's to Christian staying put for another few months!!!

Katy: I HAVE to know how others "misused" color. Really? How could that even work? I agree with you on the paranoia thing. When I was 8 months pregnant with DS, I got a flat tire. I couldn't change it, and a cute, young, yuppie looking couple offered to give me a ride. I said no, because the only thing going through my head was, "They want to steal my baby so she doesn't have to get fat..."

Jenny: I can't think of anything MORE annoying than people complaining about the consequences of the choices they made. Except maybe people who always whine about their lives and never listen to any helpful advice. Some people just like to complain, and they don't WANT to solve their problems.

Amy: Pace yourself; lots of news lately. I'm so glad to see Ada in her cute little hat. You will do fine driving today. Take it slow, knowing that we are behind you!!

Melody: I like the name Izzy, and I'm sure he'll be great whenever he comes. My DS was born at the end of July, and he's a great Leo to have around. Weird SIL, not wanting anyone to be born in July. Can someone say "selfish?" Anywho, I'm totally with you on the AP parenting thing. It just sorta happens when you follow your instincts. I think it's wise of you to say that all babies are different. I did not baby wear with DS, but he would have LOVED it. I try to wear Ava, but she's so squirmy and independent that she wants more space. I keep trying, though.

Nik~I guess some people were using the yellow color, which is barely visable, to post things against TOS in their signatures. I have no idea what their sigs said or anything though. Pretty juvenile if you ask me.

Jackie~so adorable!

Thanks for the advice Yeah...I have a bit of the white coat syndrome too (lol). I'll definitely ask the nurse to take my pressure BEFORE and AFTER I met with the doc on Thursdays.

Good morning all -
I hadn't heard about the Craig's List thing either - just other tragedies involving babies left in hot cars here in CA and the suicide rate increasing at a well to do high school nearby. Both are so sad and although have always drawn my attention and sympathy/empathy - now since Ada's birth brings a physical reaction. I can't even imagine the parents' pain.

I'm excited that my best friend arrives for an overnight today - we'll be getting a few more things organized and hopefully running some errands. If not I'll be able to do them with my "second mom" who arrives for 10 days on Thursday from NY. I'm so glad she was able to move her trip up. Even though I've started to find a groove to my days, it will be nice to have some mom love for me. I've known Momma2 since I was 4 and her daughter was 1 - so she really is closest to a 2nd mom for me now that my mom is gone. We've always had a great relationship too because I idolized her when I was little because she was a "young mom" and cool. Little did I know that by high school, my mom would be the cool one, talking with all my friends about sex when they needed to, etc.

Everything went fine going to the doc last night - and it was nice to see her and talk about the birth - it was so empowering and wonderful - I still can't believe I gave birth squatting! My best friend is bringing her pics today which I still haven't seen and I'm hoping that it reminds me of all the little subtleties that have started to fade sadly.

I'd better go - promise to keep trying to catch up on the reading - I feel unable to make too many personal comments yet - although I still can't believe that I delivered before Cheri and Tracey! Can't wait to see more pics of the little ones! Sending you all well wishes for your stage of pregnancy too - enjoy it - I really am still a little sad that I missed my last few weeks - it was so amazing to experience and I miss it even though I have the end result.

Rambling...

Hi everyone! I've missed so much in the last week. Congrats to Cheri and Tracey on their beautiful new babies!! And Amy, it's great to hear you're adapting well to your new crazy baby life! Now, wait til you hear about my week......

I went to bed last Monday night around 11 o'clock and woke up around 2:30 am with major stomach pains. I thought I would either throw up or have diarrhea because I thought it was the flu. Unfortunately I ended up in the ER with appendicitis. I had surgery 4 pm on Tuesday. So I'm a week past surgery and I'm feeling a little better. My luck seems to suck lately. I did talk to a nurse and saw my chart. My delivery must've been pretty horrible on my body because it was titled "spontaneous vaginal delivery or SVD". It pretty much screwed my body up pretty good. My liver enzymes were also up so they want to watch my gall bladder too - UGH. So since delivery I've had pre-eclampsia, a broken tailbone, and appendicitis. I'm praying that my body is now on the mend. OTOH, Erin is wonderful - she's about 12 pounds now! She actually slept last night from midnight til 5 am in one session without waking up, I was ecstatic!

Hopefully I can check in more now....everyone take care!

Sorry I set off a discussion about sleeping and then didn't check back in I have been reading though, just usually when I go to post I get distracted by baby or something .. She's doing really well, still only crying when she needs something which is great. I'm sure it won't last but it's nice now... As for sleeping, she's been in the bed and doing well with it, DH is fine about it too..he thinks it just makes sense that that's where she would sleep best..

Gracie omg that's awful. I've been waiting for an organ to fail on me , I had to have my gallbladder out 10 days after Bri was born. I'm glad she's doing well though..

Amy that's awesome that she's starting to feed well now BF'ing a first baby was tough

That's so wierd about people wanting to steal pregnant women's babies.. By wierd I mean scary and sad , just nothing I ever thought of.

Julie- I had that problem 1-2 weeks before I delivered. I had really a bad alergies/cold thing going on and I was sneezing so hard I had to wear pantyliners. It was the worst. Thank goodness it's gone away since i've delivered..

Meek good to hear your blood pressure has gone down!

Random question/possible TMI.

I noticed last night my breasts are leaking a little. Is that normal at 25, almost 26 weeks?

I remember them leaking with Noah, but it was at like 34ish weeks.

Hey ladies. Happy Wednesday!!

I did the 1-hour glucose test yesterday. It wasn't the worse thing in the world but it certainly wasn't pleasant. Yuck!! It's cool to see that I'm the last one on the list who doesn't know the gender. Only 3 more weeks and I'll be able to complete our chart.

Cryssi - I'm no expert, but I've read that some women's bbs start to leak as early as 20 weeks in their first pregnancy. Most things seem to happen sooner in 2nd pregnancies so it's probably normal and fine.

Gracie - You've certainly had a rough post-delivery with your DD. Hopefully it's smooth sailing from here out.

Hi All !!!

Im just gonna catch up and write as I read.

Amy...Addys contemplation picture is officially my desk top background for the day. Just makes me smile Ahhhh...
Im glad your doctor visit is fast, effective and safe. Have fun with your overnight visit! Have you written your birthstory so the memories dont fade? They do go fast...in some cases thats a very good thing. LOL But what a great thing to have in her baby book!

Hazel...rest and get better, please! Yeah...pregnancy number two brings with it all sorts of interesting new symptoms. I know it has for me. I hear you on boy clothes. Not nearly as fun as girl clothes. *sigh*

Even my birds are boys. Im surrounded! But they are some of the best guys on the planet and I never feel a lack of love...so it kinda rocks.

I hate the news. Such a downer. Poor momma and baby. Im always very careful because I would feel stupid to needlessly put myself in a perdicament. I figure if Im as careful as I can be that watching stuff like that is just gonna bring me down. So I dont.

Happy 23 Weeks Christian Xavier!!!

Nik...whats your sign? Leos are great. But Im a pisces and they have these bright amazing personalities that totally squash me. Im kinda muted astrologically. heheh...I hope you and Ava find a good "wearing" fit. I cant wait to hold the baby and have both hands free. Im putting pockets on my slings for keys and wallet. I love the feeling of being completely unemcumbered while shopping. LOL I know...it doesnt take much to amuse me.

Yeah...Ive never met that SIL in person...but selfish is only the beginning of the descriptions I have heard people use about her. I never take anything seriously until I have met the person myself...but she was on facebook yesterday proclaiming she was queen of the family. The family consisting of her 8 brothers and sisters...parents...tons of cousins...22 nieces and nephews...heheh Yeah...not gonna be adding her. But who knows, if I ever get the opportunity to actually meet her she could be fine. She is pregnant...about 4 months along now. With a boy. Family had 5 births this year...4 boys, 1 girl...and the girl is all the way in Utah and has 2 big sisters. So no girl shopping for me. I must find someone birthing a girl near home so I can go shopping!

Jenny have the best VA trip ever!! Im with you...whiny people that dont take advice stink. If I didnt like something I would totally change it. As long as everyone his happy and comfy, what else matters?

Wow...color abusers? Thats kinda weird. Heheh

GRACIE!! OMG!! I just figured you were busy with the baby. Spontaneous vaginal birth? I didnt know it was that abrupt...I figured it was a little fast due to you tailbone. But OUCH. And now the appendix? Are you home? Are you in the clear? Im so glad baby is doing well. Hi Erin!!!

Cryssi...Im with Amber. Im on another board and many of them started leaking by week 25...first timers and rebirthers. I havent leaked...never did with DS and I nursed for 16 months. But oh did they hurt when they were full! I wouldnt have minded a pressure release valve at that point. Soggy is better than in pain. I think...I guess it depends on where you are. LOL

AFM I am 33 weeks today! 28 days til my induction week begins. Im feeling great! Aches and pains have subsided. I spontaneously gained 4lbs between Sunday and Tuesday. 207. Ugh...But it is what it is. Im in the last month...my metabolism is higher than it will ever be again...Im going for it! LOL I know I have dieting ahead of me and it will come off. Im really looking forward to a good hard workout when its safe again.

Im getting some good high rib kicks! Had my sons 12 year birthday party at the waterpark yesterday. I enjoyed my lounge chair suntime with my crochet. He had a blast and made out like a bandit.

So I am thinking I might be headed to L&D this afternoon when Mike gets home.

The nurse from my OB's office called back and she said leaking is normal (like you guys said).

However, Wyatt hasn't moved much since last night and he's usually very active. So I will probably go get checked to be sure.

OK, I drank a bunch of water and laid down for a bit...Wyatt passed a kick count so I am happy. No L&D for me!

Good job, Cryssi. It's true that when you start paying close attention to the kicks, they are so easy to get your 10 in.

Hi everyone,

Boy, I've missed a lot. It's been a quick first week. It's amazing how Cayden is starting to look like a completely different baby. He's gotten a little darker, gained 9 ounces as of Monday, and it's all going to his chubby little tummy. He is a wonderful baby and really only cries when he needs something. We're still having a bit of trouble getting him to sleep on his own but I think we've figured out that he's a stomach sleeper. When he lays on one of our chests, he goes right to sleep and sleeps for 2 to 4 hours. I laid him on his stomach on the bed this morning after feeding him and he slept from 10:00 to about 2:00. I'm going to have to discuss this with the pediatrician at our next appointment because I know they're supposed to sleep on their backs but he hates it. Swaddling him and placing him on his back to sleep does help but it's either we're really bad at swaddling or he's a little Houdini because he squirms until he's freed himself.

On the crying it out, I realized in the hospital that I was not going to be able to do it. His crying made me cry at times...especially after he was circumcised and was so inconsolable that night. I felt awful for putting him through that. He's a baby and truly does not understand why he's not being comforted and I can't even pretend to be tough enough to ignore his cries. The pediatrician reassured us at our appt. on Monday that now is not the time to try things like that and he needs us right now so we're doing the right thing by consistently responding to his crying.

As for the c-section recovery, it has been the most frustrating thing for me to deal with. The pain, soreness, stiffness, and resulting limited movement have reduced me to tears at times. The doctors offer little or no advice for what I can do to make it a little smoother other than get lots of rest and don't do too much. It's like they forget the baby that must be fed and taken care of despite the incision. So while I understand the advice in theory, I don't think it's practical advice at all...especially for single mothers who may not have someone to help them consistently. I went to get my staples taken out yesterday and ended up crying when the nurse told me that they were going to take the staples out with doing anything to at least numb the pain. I was not prepared for more pain and lost it a little. I'm sure they think I'm crazy now but I really don't care. The incision actually swelled even more and became more painful after he took the staples out but it feels a little better now.

Melody~ I'm glad you see the resemblance to my husband too. He keeps saying the baby looks more like me. I just don't see it. I see more him than me.

Hazel~ YAY for another boy! I'm sorry you're sick and while you're pregnant on top of it. Take care of yourself. Pneumonia is not fun.

Meek~ I'm glad your blood pressure's down. That is one cute baby.

Jackie~ Those ultrasound pics are adorable and I agree, he does not look bony.

Amy~ That is an adorable picture of Ada. I love her little hat. I'm glad Ada is doing better and has gained some weight.

Jenny~ Have a safe trip.

Cryssi~ I'm glad Wyatt started moving again. I completely understand your fears. When Cayden got lazy toward the end and stopped moving around as much, it took everything I had not to think the worst.

Gracie~ I'm sorry you're having so many issues.

Tracey~After we stopped swaddling Tucker we had to put him to sleep on his tummy or he'd wake himself right up. We had the AngelCare Monitor that monitors breathing though so I never worried about SIDS, knowing the alarm would sound if he stopped breathing.

Nikie, I feel alot better. Thanks for asking. I've been off for from work for the past 3 days to rest. I love it! I called the doctors office for my results and the nurse said my urine and blood work was perfect - so I'm relieved about that. I have an appt to meet with the head physician tomorrow to get full details on everything. I will update you girls then.

Mel, Jacob is too cute. OMG!

Tracey, I'm glad to hear you are recovery well.

Cryssi, glad to her Wyatt kicked again. I knew he would .

Christian was very active while our praise team at church was singing tonight. I think the music was a little too loud for him (lol). He's so use to the classical music I listen too while studying.

Well, I'm off to bed. Have a good nights rest everyone .

Gracie~Sorry to hear about how rough your recovery has been! My dh had appendicitis a couple years ago, not fun and I can't imagine going through that with a newborn!

Meek~What are you studying for? Are you in school for something? Glad to hear your tests were fine!

Hi ladies

I'm recovering nicely and even made it to the pool with the kids while my mom watched Erin. I'm praying that I've seen the worst of my recovery. I go to my OB tomorrow for my post-partum check-up and I go back to the surgeon at the end of the month to see how my incisions are doing. I'm going to ask her about my liver enzymes but I read on-line that they do sometimes elevate when you have appendicitis. I hate to say it but I think being 37 years old had alot to do with my horrible recovery. Ten years ago my body would've been able to handle alot more! DH and I have decided that he should have a vasectomy. I cried because it's so final but I'm 37 and he's 39 and we both agree that 3 children have made our family complete. It's still hard to think about without getting a little sad. But, OTOH, if I found out I was pg again I think I would be really scared - this one scarred me for life - LOL.

I don't have time for personals, I have to pick Gracie up from day-camp. I'm praying for all of you who have had your little ones and for the ones still waiting. Have a great day everyone!
