When do you think I should delete the babies that should have been born by now? Since we haven't heard from some of the mommies in a while?

Just marking my place...

I don't know when to mark them off... If they weren't that active on the boards and haven't come back to post, I think I'd take them off...

Hello.
Did you all have Braxton Hicks? When? What did they feel like?

I had braxtons starting at about 32-33 weeks. Mine felt like a tightening in my belly. Sitting down, or finding a different position would relieve them for me. And they were just off an on, very irregular. When my contraction started 5 minutes apart and didn't let up I knew it was the real thing... How many weeks are you?

TC: I never felt Braxton Hicks with my first. This time, I started feeling them around 16 weeks. They go away if I drink lots of water. Some people recommend drinking red raspberry leaf tea. To me, they feel like the entire uterus is having a mild charlie horse. They usually last 10-20 seconds, then go away. Once, I had several in a row (about four, each 7-9 minutes apart). I drank 20 oz of water and went down on my left side. They stopped within ten minutes.

Hey all! Congrats Krysta.. I read on your journal that they are 2lbs? My goodness I cant imagine holding someone so tiny My daughter was 9.5

I have finally decided on a doctor! I was debating between paying my insurance co-pay and using the free clinic/medicaid... When I called the free clinic and I said I needed more info on their obstetrical program...... the receptionist said...... and I am not kidding...... "what's that?"
.
.
.
(also at the free clinic I wouldn't get to choose my dr, and my prenatal dr would not be the same dr that delivered my child--that task would go to whoever is on call for the hosipital)

So I am going to suck it up and pay my copay, and we should have a confirmed due date on the 17th!

Congratulations Krystal! I can't wait to see the pics. How is mommy feeling?

I had a doctor's appointment today and got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time! It was 156 bpm. I am starting my 13th week so goodbye 1st trimester! Hopefully now the nausea will calm down.

That's scary! You made the right choice Cheri. I just changed my insurance plan at work hoping that it will reduce the amount of money we'll have to pay out of pocket when the baby is delivered.

I was joking in another thread about my baby shower. Instead of registering somewhere, I'm thinking about asking my friends and family to help pay my insurance deductible. Of course, that's a joke, but having a baby is much more expensive than it used to be!

Planned parenthood could probably give you some good prenatal care, especially in your first trimester. At that point, the whole "Obstetrical package" is not really necessary. Good luck!

You're lucky you got to change your insurance. We can only change ours once a year.. But I am going to have to pay $20/visit and 20% of the delivery.

Good thing Obama promised another stimulus check

Hey, everybody! I'm just passing through, and am SOOO glad that the thread is still going strong. (I've been immersed in the campaign and election, and hadn't been here in a long time)

Andrea, I"m so happy for you, congrats. Congrats to the other women I didn't "meet" before my break in posting. Krysta's a mommy, Nik and Mel's next, I've missed so much!

Elijah will be 4 months old next month! Can you believe it, I can't. He doesn't even look like his newborn self anymore so a word of wisdom, that first week or two, take TONS of pictures b/c it will be very hard to remember what they looked like then.

He's smiling, grabbing things, lifting up his upper torsoe, and gabbing away. This has got to be the most awesome time of my life.

Unfortunately will be back at work in a couple more weeks, but in this economic time, I'm blessed to have a job.

Dessa: You both look amazing. He is the happiest looking baby I have ever seen. Congratulations!

Did you do much campaigning? Are you happy with the result? I laughed on the news when they said people would be having "election withdrawal." Now, I feel a little bit of emptiness because I'm not obsessively checking the political news anymore.

Thanks for checking in...you should do that more often. Thanks also for the advice about the pictures. I need to remember what it's like to have a newborn!

Toast: Most insurance companies around here run elections at this time of year. Mine and hubby's both are having elections this month. I'm taking my own insurance for the first time IN MY LIFE, because DH's company charges a $20 week surcharge IN ADDITION to regular family premiums-because I have access to insurance that I do not take.

Thanks, Dessa!

Tomorrow will be the 6 week mark for me. I am feeling good except for a lot of, TMI, gas and bloating all the time. Still no morning sickness for me. I am not cramping nearly as much as before but still feeling them once in a while.

I'm counting down the days until my first ultrasound on the 25th. It feels like it's never going to get here.

Nik, my insurance charges a surcharge if my husband is offered insurance through his work but takes mine instead. He isn't offered any through his job, though, so that's good. As far as I know, 100% of the delivery is covered for me... I just pay a co-pay.

Andrea:
In a way, it's a good thing your DH has no access to personal insurance. Those surcharges STINK!

And I'm happy to have help with the medical bills. I'm not saying that I want to pay for everything out of pocket! Personally, I have a deductible. That means that I pay 100% of medical costs until I meet that deductible. After that, I pay a co-pay of 20%, up to my MOOP (maximum out of pocket [per year]). I THINK the costs toward the deductible also count toward my MOOP. Does anyone know? SO, with a delivery averaging about 3500 in my area-with no complications, and not including the hospital stay for me or the infant, the copay alone would get me to my MOOP.

I remember the good old days-not too long ago. Premiums were $60/month for our family, copays were $10 per visit, and we had no deductible. I can't believe how much inflation the insurance industry has seen in the past five years.

Still, our babies are priceless!

Hey Ladies,

I had some spotting this morning... that was scary. It was more like brownish-tinged cervical fluid rather than blood. It wasn't enough to stain my panties... just there when I wiped. It has stopped but I guess maybe I should call my doctor in the morning to let them know? Being pregnant is so new to me I have no idea what I'm doing.
