It is implantation. Good sign, mean's the baby's finding a good place rest for the next 9 months.(TMI-alert it's "old" blood when it's brown like that. Just think of your baby cozying up in a good spot, that's all he/she's doing.

Call doctor to be sure. I did, knowing what it was, but it let me get to see baby on an u/s faster!

Nik, I'm very happy with the results. Now the hard work, but I think he's going to handle it well.

Then Dessa, congrats. I don't know if it was my pregnancy, but I can honestly say that I cried. Three times. It's like, AMAZING! (Don't want to get much more into it, y'know?) But feel free to PM me if you want to gush.

Andrea: HOW pregnant are you? (I don't remember when you made the big announcement.) Remember that I was a total wreck because I had brown blood for about a week. It went away for three days, then came back a week later. I thought it was too late to be implantation bleeding. I'm interested to know whether you are having the same symptoms. Mine started about 10 days after my BFP. Oh, and just to reassure you-my little one's been kicking ALL DAY! Gotta love her, I'm sure she's a healthy little critter despite the anxiety early on.

Thanks, Dessa... I'm sure it's nothing to worry about at all. It would be nice to see the heartbeat a little earlier than expected, though.

Nik, I'm 6 weeks. (I think I'll add it to my signature so everyone will know how far along I am when I start obsessing about things. ) My AF was due 2 weeks ago and it's been 12 days since my BFP. I do remember your episode of spotting... I actually looked back in the old message archives and read about it this morning. Gosh, I rely on you ladies a lot more than I thought I did!

Yup. That sounds right on track with me! I was soooo nervous. Please let me know if you need to vent; I'm here for you! (I never spotted with my son, so I was absolutely clueless!)

Andrea~Yep, just like the others said, brown blood is old. But go ahead and call the doc. anyways, they will want to know. I can't believe your BFP was 12 days ago! Time is already flying by!

Hi Ladies -
I had a bit of a rough weekend with a bad headache, migraine threatening. Spent the entire day in bed on Saturday hoping it would shake it but by Sunday it was worse. It's miserable not being able to take my meds. I finally called the doc and he said I could take them, but I'm not comfortable this early taking codeine - so I finally took tylenol and got myself comfortable enough to fall asleep and it seems better this morning.

I'm having trouble getting enough food, let alone enough protein in -I know I'm nowhere near recommended amounts. Anyone have any suggestions or an average menu they'd care to share?

Just realized the time - must rush to get out of the house - more later from work - hope you all have a good day.

Good morning everyone!

I am officially out of my first trimester My next appointment is December 5th and that's when they'll give me the orders for the u/s. We have decided not to find out the sex of the baby. I have a 9 year old son and a 5 year old daughter so we are ready for a surprise. I found out with both of my other children. As for insurance, so far I've had to pay one $20 co-pay, $15 for labs, and $5 for a flu shot. I'm not sure about the delivery costs.

Andrea: I had the same spotting, but mine was bright red. Doctor said it's very normal and can be many things. Don't stress yourself out, you want to stay calm for the baby!

Amy: The headaches sound horrible. I get them frequently too but I don't think they're migraines. I usually take 2 tylenol and lay down. When I was pg with DD I had to take Tylenol with Codeine because I was getting "ocular migraines". As for the food, just eat what you can keep down right now. I've lost 5 pounds in the first trimester and the doctor said it's fine. I believe I am gaining now because I have my appetite back. In the 1st trimester most foods made me nauseous. Tonight for dinner I'm having ham and green bean casserole - yummo! I hope you start feeling better soon! What week are you in? Doc says that the placenta takes over making the HCG at about week 12 so that's when you usually feel some relief.

Hi Gracie -
I'm 7w4d - although my u/s last week on 7w exactly measured 6.5w - so perhaps I implanted a bit late. I'm afraid to say it but I think the m/s has kicked in. Today I think I've gone beyond "queasy" to nauseous. It's not even 9am and I'm counting the minutes till 2:30 when I leave. I managed to get some scrambled eggs and cheese down this morning hoping it might help - but not yet. Wish I was in bed!

I'm also annoyed because I bought a new bra at motherhood on Friday and it seems to be defective, or just a bad fit. The "boning" on the side rides up so that it's literally poking straight into me. Not sure if they'll take it back since the tags are removed, but I'll try. I also got a nursing tank for sleeping in which has been great since that was the most painful time for me - so I have that on under a big sweatshirt today But I'm going to have to give up the regular jeans even though I haven't gained on the scale because they are not comfortable at all now. Guess it's time for some stretchies or maternity already.

I can't believe you're out of the first trimester already! It went so quickly. I was with a friend's 2 year old yesterday and I couldn't get over how big she was already - seems she was just a newborn - and that's about to happen for me! Still in shock!

Okay - back to work -hopefully if I can focus I'll be able to avoid the queasy!

Amy, it's funny that your u/s measured you less than you thought because the same thing happened to me. We BD'd on August 23rd and they're telling me conception was August 30th. To me it was unreasonable because it was 7 whole days after the deed. I didn't think sperm lived beyond 4-5 days. Anyway, maybe I also implanted late I didn't even bother telling the doctor because it only made a difference of a few days to my due date. But, I go by when I think I conceived which was August 26th which makes my due date May 19th, 2009!!! Did you try the legumes for the m/s? They did actually help me alot. Just try throwing some chick peas (garbanzo beans) into a salad at lunch or add some beans to a soup.

I tried the beans when I had my first day of "queasy" a week or so ago and it did seem to help. I will definitely try some more now! I don't remember anything in the article saying that they couldn't be refried beans do you? That's how I got them down last time - nice and warm with cheese melted - nice and comforting.

Refried beans should do the trick! Once I tried Taco Bell's grilled stuffed chicken burrito and that helped. It's full of grilled chix, rice, refried beans, lettuce, cheese, & sour cream. The thing I can't stomach is greasy, fried foods. The thought of a hash brown or crispy chix makes me gag. Now, Saturday night I had a huge piece of Fresh Strawberry Cheesecake from the Cheescake Factory. Can you say OH MY GOD!!!!!! It was the best thing I've ever eaten!!

Could you try a protein shake? Does hot or cold food sound better to you?

And Motherhood has notoriously horrible return policies on their bras and panties. Good luck though, it's worth a shot!

Woot! I love that you aren't finding out what you're having, that will be so exciting, especially for your kids! Are they wanting a boy or girl?

I will probably be kind of a regular on this thread now, even though I'm not pg. I love hearing all the updates!

Katy: Yeah, I'm glad we're not finding out. When the first two were born it was very exciting but it would've been more exciting not knowing what was coming! My DS of course wants a brother and DD wants a sister! I think it will be really cool when the doctor says "Congratulations it's a ..........." Me and DH were laughing about it because either way you're outrageously happy and excited with either sex. I wonder if anybody ever says "Oh shoot! I wanted the other sex!.

Congratulations, Krysta!

I called the doctor's office this morning and spoke with a nurse. She said that there's no need to come in early since the spotting only last a few hours and was brown and only there when I wiped. She said that it happens to a lot of women, etc, etc. She said to call back if it starts again and turns pink or red or if I'm cramping a lot. So, I'm still waiting two weeks for my ultrasound!

I was also hit with quite the bout of nausea this afternoon. I was dry heaving in the bathroom, for goodness sake! My friend at work who is 7 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy made me break into her saltine stash. Ugh.

Tink: I made protein shakes. Try BOOST from the grocery. It's high in sugar, but high in protein. Whey powder mixes well with most liquids. Good luck!

Sympathy all around. I'm back into heartburn, because I'm losing room in my stomach!

Thanks for the tips ladies - today was definitely my worst queasy/nauseous day yet and yet I still feel I shouldn't complain compared to some stories I read about. I did manage to get three meals down despite it. Tonight I decided I had to have sushi again (all cooked of course) and actually ate too much I think - big round belly right now.

I started off the first week I knew I was pregnant with having protein smoothies each morning and sometimes afternoon and I can't even think about them now without feeling disgusting - I don't know if it's because I've gone off of anything sweet or what - but I will see if I can maybe find a combo that works. I try to use greek yogurt in them for a protein boost and then whey powder and whatever frozen fruit suits me.

What kind of remedies can you use for heartburn Nik? My mum always used to sip some cream and said it was almost instant relief - but I'm not sure if it lasts.

Hope you all get good rest tonight -

Amy: For me, I wanted cereal. When you need to eat, and something sounds digestible, eat it. Right now, your baby is not making huge nutritional demands. Take your prenatal diligently, and you should be fine. Of course, TRY to eat the best thing that you can, but when all else fails, eat whatever works.

I used ginger chews from the health food store. Since you're going to Motherhood today, check out their ginger pops. It worked for me! Dairy really does work, but it doesn't last long, and if you have any sort of dairy sensitivity, you're trading one problem for another.

Good luck!

For me, now, I just try to eat less at a time, which is not very easy considering I have a big appetite right now.

I had some more spotting last night when I wiped... I noticed that it happened after a bowel movement... and the other morning when it happened it was also after a bowel movement? Would that cause old blood to be knocked loose, maybe?

Andrea: It could be from the BM if you were straining. I would call my doctor again and let him know what's going on. If it's just a small amount when you wipe it's probably still just old blood coming out. I'm still terrified every time I go to the bathroom. I'm hoping this goes away soon.

Nik: Does your doctor let you take Tums? Mine says it's fine and they actually give samples out at the office. If I get heartburn I pop 2 Tums and feel better instantly.

Amy: How are you feeling today? Believe me I can totally sympathize with the m/s. The good thing is it shouldn't last too long

AFM: I don't know why but I'm really weepy lately. Last night I cried myself to sleep and I feel down today too. I'm thinking it's the hormones getting to me. Last night my two kiddos wouldn't go to bed and I was getting frustrated so I think that's why I started crying. Plus the weather here is cold and dreary and will be from now until March - UGH! The good thing is I'm going to Daytona Beach from Christmas Day til after New Years so I'll be able to get some sunshine. I haven't asked my doctor about flying yet, hopefully it will be okay.

Andrea, if it makes you feel better, I had spotting off and on up until my 10th week. Mostly it was brown, and Dr said if its brown, its old and not to worry, so I never called after the first time of that. However, I did have 2 incidences of bright red blood, a spot about the size of a quarter. The first one happened sometime in my 7th week, and I went in to the Dr and had a U/S. Babies were fine. The blood tuned brown right after the spot came out, so when it happened the second time, I didnt even bother calling. I know its scary, but seriously, if its brown, try not to worry about it.

When I had MS, all I could eat was Cherrios and Cream of Wheat. Just eat what you can. I'll be honest, I ate pretty much whatever I wanted while PG and at the highest only gained 22 lbs, and my boys were very large for their age. I'm already only 15 lbs away from my pre-preg weight. I think if you just do things in moderation, you all should be fine.

And I guess I was lucky. I hardly ever had heartburn, so I can't really help you out with that one. Sorry, I know its got to suck!

Good Morning all -
Had to be at the office early today (earlier than my usual early) so I was sort of in a blur - now that my conference call is over, I realize that I'm not feeling so hot again. It's probably not good that as I'm getting out of bed in the morning that I'm so excited that in only 11 hours I'll be home and can get back in!

Things seemed to lift on my drive home yesterday and I went for the sushi and ate way too much - went to bed on a full belly - but it was good! It's hard to shop because everything I usually buy may sound good at the time and I tend to pre-cook for the week and then I stand in front of the fridge stocked with all this food and I don't want any of it. Yesterday I spent $32 eating out and that can't become a habit.

Going to try to keep myself busy here at work today again - tomorrow I have my first appt with the new ob office as my doc (who was also new to me) just closed her practice and went to Kaiser. Hopefully I'll like the vibe at the new place. I'm also going to meet with a midwife in the near future to learn her opinions on different hospitals and doctors in our area as far as who sticks most with the patient's plan, etc. I would most likely do a home birth if I had an appropriate living situation and if I didn't have a family blood condition that might pose a problem, although not necessarily. So, gathering all the info.

Thanks for the tips on food - and the ginger pops - I actually have the Pregnancy pop drops and they seem to help for a bit. I've heard Jolly Ranchers are just as good (& so much cheaper) so I'll get some of those as well as some ginger candy. I'm also going to try the beans more aggressively and see if I can kick this nausea into remission - especially since I'm keeping quiet at work for a bit longer. I work with all men -and although they are all friends, I'm not ready for all the questions just yet.

Okay - long ramble for me - have a good day ladies -

Hi everyone,

I finally got a break from work. I'm going on vacation next week so as is typical, I have so much to do this week. Other than the first week or so after I missed my period, I haven't had any spotting. I'm into my 8th week by my count- 10th by my doctor's count-. I've had nausea almost daily but have not thrown up yet. My biggest problem is not being able to eat anything consistently. I tried the peas after someone posted about it but I could only eat it for one or two meals before the thought of eating peas became nauseating. My husband made a big pot of spaghetti for us and I ate it for dinner one night and he ended up having to eat the rest of it on his own because I just couldn't stomach the thought of eating it again. I've just become really finicky with my eating and that is so not me normally.

Cheri~ We're going through open enrollment right now which is how I'm able to change my insurance elections. For the delivery, I have to pay my deductible and 10% of covered charges. My co-pay for my doctor's visits will vary depending on what they do while I'm there. Routine visits are $25 though.

Nic~ 100% coverage for delivery? I'm jealous!

You and me both.

Kyrsta~ The babies are adorable. I'm so glad everything went well.

Tinker~ I start the morning with a protein shake and eat a bowl of cereal about an hour later. It's about the only thing I seem to be able to stomach for breakfast nowadays. I was on a scrambled egg & sausage bent for a while but that lasted about 3 days. Now it's boiled eggs almost exclusively. I had an egg salad sandwich for dinner last night. Don't know how long this will last but I know how you feel. I hope you feel better.
