Moms' Chat: Spring into Summer

This is a thread for mom's wanting to chat about anything and everything!

Lee - Even though I was very nervous about going to the Drs., I obviously don't have the same Dr. phobia that you have. I just don't like the fact that I'd put on weight, and had to get nekked for a complete physical, including a pap. It had been 2 yrs. since my last one, so I was right on schedule. I also went to the eye Dr. that morning, so I feel good that I'm at least taking care of myself. I want the DH and kids to have me around for a long time. You should think seriously about taking care of yourself too!

So, apparently my "lump" is getting better, and will take up to 6 weeks to completely go away. That's a relief.

It sounds like you need some serious R&R!! I haven't heard the quote you wrote, but I have heard this one, - "if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Seriously, it's true! I do believe the kids are reacting to what they're feeling from you (maybe DH too?). It's amazing how much kids can pick up from us. Maybe a "family talk" is in order? Let me know how it goes.

We were supposed to warm up today, but it's been rainy and chilly so far. I know to trust the weather report only 50% of the time, if that. So much for modern technology!

Hi to Dawn and Niccole if you ever read this!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mary-that's great news about the lump!
Yeah I could stand to take care
I asked work for more shifts and instantly got them.
Also DH might have another job.
I still worry about getting through the next 2 weeks.
It's been a month since he had a paycheque. We have enough for rent and necessities. It's just that it's Dayton's BDay Sunday and then Easter around the corner.Cross your fingers I make lots of tips...
Things always work out and I never let forget that there are others with worse on their plate.
I have spoke with the kids about the situation,we've all been there and done that a few times before. It's getting better(I'm halfway through TOM )

I should get to bed(after I exercise)
I just baked chocolate chip cookies but didn't have one.

Yes Hi to Dawn and Niccole!
...and any other mom's who wander in

After having summer-like temps. for 2 days (setting new records), we're back to normal. It's hard to go down 30 degrees from one day to the next. I will be glad when winter and spring stop the tug-of-war.

Next week starts spring break for my kids. The school kids have it in 2 weeks. We're doing it the week before Easter, b/c of Moriah's 7th birthday being that week. It worked out with my DH taking vacation that week too. Not all days are easy for him to schedule vacation on, it depends on if someone with higher senority wants it or not. Let's just say, we're all looking forward to it.

TOM is due any day now. I hope to have it gone before Moriah's b-day. I don't want to be in pain and crabby, if I can avoid it.

Speaking of TOM, I hope yours is well gone by now Lee! How are you and the family doing? That's great you avoided eating the chocolate chip cookies! Those used to be a favorite of mine. I got the kids some chicken last week, along with potato wedges, and they didn't finish the potato wedges. I had to use every ounce of my willpower to not finish them. Potatoes were another favorite of mine! Ever since I went to the Drs., and really got a good look at myself (bright lights), I started cutting way back on my eating. It's hard with TOM coming, but I'm doing okay. I got some unsweetened chocolate, incase I needed to make myself a chocolate treat. I have to avoid sugar alcohols, to avoid having out-of-control cravings. During our little warm-up, I put on summer clothes, and they were snug. I have some time before summer really gets here, and I'm hoping & praying to lose weight before then!

to Dayton!!!!

Hi Mary

thanx for the bday wishes!

He had a great time.I'm trying to post pics of my baking on my website.I made him a "golf" themed cake.He is a golf addict. When I upload it I'll let you know.
Our kids school break is from the 6th to the 15th.My brother, his wife and their triplets are coming to stay from the 12th to the 15th so we are quite excited.
What plans have you for the holiday? What day does Moriah's Bday fall on(you probably have it in your sig.)?Any special plans for her?
It snowed here today...sigh
yeah TOM is a memory now
I'm back to being nice to my family again LOL
I thought we were in sync,so you are late or I was early?
I'm down a few lbs but I attribute it to simply eating less(too busy).
DH may have a job but he has to take a few day long courses this week.
He helped a friend move from his place to his trailer and he had no room for his 52" HD TV so it is now being stored(used)at our place.I'm nervous of the responsibility of it with 4 kids
I'm so tired I just want to fall into bed...
Good luck in the ensuing days

I apologize for not stopping by more often. I just haven't really been on the internet much at all. I've been sick with a cold for 2 weeks...really sick and being pregnant means not much in the way of medicine. Jack has been battling a cold too and now he has an ear infection that we are treating. Trying to get a ton of stuff done around the house because I'm behind with things and need to get a bit more baby stuff done this month. And to top it off I had to go get another ultrasound done because the doctor said I was measuring behind and she wanted to make sure all was well. So I had to wait a week to get an appt and stressed the whole time that he wasn't growing properly or that my fluid level was too low. But the high risk doc says he is doing great for where I was in my pregnancy and that the fluid levels are good. So I guess I'm just lucky to be "compact" with the pregnancy. But it is annoying....my mom had a shower for me last weekend and everyone kept saying how I didn't look pregnant enough and all that and it freaks me out. Even though I guess things are fine. Nothing like being sick and annoyed at your own shower.

But I'm 35 weeks now, so not a lot of time left until this boy arrives.

I'll catch up and stop by this week.

Take care.
Niccole

I went to buy the movie, "Happy Feet" yesterday, and my debit card didn't work on their machine. I didn't have my checkbook with me, and dreaded the thought of having to run back home (clear across town), and run back. Very surprisingly, the lady behind me said that she would buy the movie for the kids & I (Elijah & Leah were with me). She said that God had blessed her in her life, and she wanted to bless others. She asked if I would allow her to do this for me. I felt strange for doing it, but I allowed her to pay for it. I thanked her, and went on my way. It's things like this happening, that show us the world isn't always such a terrible place. There are still good people out there!

Lee - The kids will dress up in their Easter clothes for Easter Sunday, and then we'll go over to my mom's house. I don't give the kids an Easter basket (we don't teach them to believe in the Easter bunny), but my mom gives them each a bag of Easter treats. We'll have lunch over at her house.

How old are the triplets? What are a "few day long courses" you mentioned regarding your DH?

I'm right on time, so you must have been early with TOM. Today is the 26th day since my last TOM. It will probably arrive tomorrow.

52" is huge compared to our 32" HDTV. We like it ALOT. I'm planning on getting a small one for our bedroom later this year or early next year. Just don't let anyone touch the screen! They are very sensitive. Not like the hard glass of regular TVs. You need to buy a special cleaner for it too. We bought ours at an electronics store. It can't have any alcohol in it. Only clean it when the TV is off. Have fun!

Moriah's b-day is April 5th (next Thursday). We're having a little family get-together on Good Friday, to celebrate it. I got all her presents early (several weeks ago), and just have to get around to wrapping them. I've already gotten Elijah's presents too, and his b-day isn't until the end of July! I'm not normally such an early present getter, but my DH wanted me to get him something big (a Nintendo DS), and we had to use some of our tax return money. I'm still not sure about such an expensive present, but my DH thinks it's a good idea. I hope so.

Rain, rain, and more rain, is in the forecast for us. It doesn't look like we'll have any more snow, but you never know!

I want to see the pics!!

Niccole - You're still with us!!! SO sorry to hear about your cold, and Jack's cold and EI. Some people just have smaller tummies than others while PG. I've seen women like that at church, and they went on to have completely healthy babies (just smaller!). Nothing wrong with that. Glad to hear that your baby boy is doing fine. I can't wait to read all about your L&D! If your 2nd is anything like mine, it will be half the time of the first. ~big sigh of relief~

Hi All

...so actually a nice day today(still snow on the ground). We went for a walk and got slushies.I was supposed to work but another girl took my shift as she wants extra $$$ for her trip next week. After a long day outside(my neighbour had a teenage sitter but all the kids were in my yard and needless to say I felt it necessary to keep my eyes peeled). My kids are all tired and cranky and plopped in front of a video(Lion King).

Hi Niccole-glad to hear you are well!
I really have to make an effort to get online myself.
If my PC were upstairs I'd be on it every day.
It is hard to be motivated and I so remember the feelings of being very pregnant.
My grandma went to the hospital when she was in labor and they figured she was a visitor as she only put on maybe 20 lbs with each child.I obviously don't have her genes!
Less to lose later, that'll be nice.
I wouldn't let all the professionals scare you.
With my last U/S with Dayton they told me he had a big head and little legs and did dwarfism run in the family?
Like a person doesn't have enough to worry about in the last weeks.
Almost there Good luck!

Hi Mary-what a lovely generous woman.
I do believe there are alot of good people out there and have encountered many myself.
I even believe alot of *bad* people have redeemable features, but one has to be cautious all the same.
I am way behind on movies.I still want to buy Shrek and Ice Age and Invincibles.Mind you we live in a small town...
Our friend's TV freaks me out.
Yeah he gave me the "cleaning rules"
Is he aware I have 4 kids?LOL
I've been guarding that thing,it's really insane
I'm quite a minimilist and pretty much only care about necessities
My friend gave me a pair of sweat pants about 10 years ago and they finally bit it and I threw them away and now I have to wear jeans all day until I break down and buy another pair. How sad is that?
Oh here's my link
http://www.angelfire.com/vi/lee/my_baking/
I have to get a pic of all the kids up.We always dress them up for Easter too.
We always let them have a egg hunt and we buy treats but they know the occassion is to honor the death of Jesus(and in a sense spring and rebirth)
I don't buy junk so much, one bunny and some kind of toy...
I might have the pic from Christmas in my site too
The triplets are 9
and DH had to take a Dangerous Goods,H2s and Wheels On.He has these courses but you have to update them regularily.
He'll probably be starting on Monday. It's a sulfur haul. He'll have to wear a mask on site etc...he really loves logging but that's so unreliable.
Who says you aren't an early present getter?
I bet Elijah will be thrilled
I'd like a new(small TV)
Out of our tax we'll probably buy a tent as we lost our last one in the move
and go camping this year.
What did you buy Moriah?
Cody's BDay is in May and she wants a Fur Real Pet
anyway I should run
duty calls...
Dawn how's it going??
TTFN
I dressed the kids western...

It's spring! No it's winter. It's spring! No it's winter. Geesh, make up your mind! I have to keep going back and forth between the kids' dressers/closets, and the basement. They still have their winter stuff in their rooms, but the spring/summer stuff is in the basement. I will make the switch late this month.

I'm currently on a mission to re-organize the whole house. I'm doing it little by little, a closet here, a couple of drawers or cupboards there. I'm throwing out stuff as I go along. I have to do it slowly, b/c I'm allergic to dust. I just did a closet the other day, and my allergies acted up for the rest of the day. It feels like I'm in the middle of a cold. It's not fun, but someone has to do it. It's rewarding seeing the house looking better. We've been living here for almost 5 years, and this is my first time doing it. You can imagine how much work I have to do, even if we live in a little house.

Moriah's b-day is in 3 days, and she's ready for her presents. She's getting from us; a doll buggy, a doll high chair, a little bag with bottles and eating utensils (for dolls), a Precious Moments Bible, and a Power Puff's watch. I'll be picking her out a Cabbage Patch Doll tomorrow, that will be from my mom (grandma). My mom would pick it out herself, but I don't trust her to get the "right" one. Her party will be on Friday. We may be taking the kids on Thursday (actual b-day) to Chuck E. Cheese's. Moriah really wants to go there. I have coupons on standby.

Lee - Thanks for sharing the pics of all those delicious looking high-carb treats! I'm SO glad I don't live with you! Talk about needing lots and lots of self-control. My kids would luv you though. Their mom doesn't bake. Poor babies. I almost feel sorry for them.

I want a small TV too, for our bedroom. We already have one, but it's not a LCD HDTV one. I just threw out a 12 yr. old winter coat, that had a broken zipper. To replace it, I bought a $3.00 coat at a 2nd hand store. I'm not miss big spender either. I definitely cut a lot of corners, whenever possible. My DH is the one who likes spending $ on electronics items. It was his idea in the first place to get our LCD HDTV. I like it too though, I would have just waited longer to get it.

Hi Niccole and Dawn!

Okay, I'm back. Much sooner than I thought

I'm still sick...going on almost a month now. I did get some antibiotics from the doctor this week, so I'm hoping that I can finally not be sick. I am so tired from this illness dragging on.

Went for my 36 week appt on Tuesday. She said I'm 75% effaced, 2 cms dilated and he's at 0 station. So it might not be too much longer for this little boy! I was in a similar situation with Jack and he was born at 38 weeks 4 days. She said it could be anytime but she didn't think I would go until my due date (April 30). I'd like to go a little longer to give him some time to bulk up a bit, but I guess babies are on their own schedules, right

Mary - The weather is awful. It was 80 here Tuesday and 30 yesterday. Today is snow and really high winds. I too would like it to be one way or the other. Happy Birthday to Moriah Did you do Chuck E Cheese? I hope she has a great party.

Lee - Between doctors worrying you and comments from other people it's a wonder pregnant women don't just go crazy sometimes from the anxiety! Needless to say I'll be happy when I'm not pregnant just so I don't have to listen to advice from everyone on the street.

Anyway, I'm glad you two are doing well.

Take care.

...busy on my homefront...
DH is working steady,we're up at 4am every morning.
I've been working a little extra due to a shortage at work.I would've worked alot more but for I had sitter trouble.I've babysat extra myself and with the kids home from school it has just been plain busy.I hope to get my house in order before my brother and family comes this weekend.
I've had a killer toothache and I'm worn down...

Hope everyone had a nice Easter
The weather here has been miserable, snow every day!
We haven't even seen buds on the trees yet.

Hi Mary-Happy belated Birthday to Moriah!
Did she have a good one?..not sick this time I hope.
I've never been to a Chuck E Cheese(but we avoid the city like the plague )
The boy I sit for went to one on his BDay last month and is still raving about it.
How's the house organizing going?
I'd be happy just to get mine respectably clean. It may have to wait until the kids are back in school.
I cut all the girls hair tonight. It grows fast. They are like me.I cut my hair to under my ears after each child and it is already down to my waist again(3 years since the last big cut)

Great deal on the $3. coat That's the cost of a zipper.
Friends have graciously gave me about 4 garbage bags of clothing for the kids and there is some minor and major mending needed on them. They're still sitting in the bags until I can deal with them.

Hi Niccole-good luck with the impending birth of your baby
....glad you are feeling better, you'll need your strength.
Babies grow just as fast on the outside as they do on the inside(but I don't want to be one of those annoying advice givers )
...then they have great advice on the rearing of children too, funny how different we all can be.

so are you ready?
even when I was I didn't feel like I was.
It's going to be a long(or maybe short week or so)
Hang in there!

Hi Dawn

April has been more like winter, than spring. We're averaging about 15 degrees below normal this month. <sigh> There are buds on the trees, and some flowers/plants started to show, during the few days of spring we had last month. Today we had a gusty wind, with snow falling steadily. I went to the grocery store and it was freezing out there. Thankfully, I only had to go one block to get to the store. I'm trying to "endure" until it goes back to being spring again. I held off on putting all the winter stuff away, knowing how April can be.

Moriah's b-day came and went, with success. She was happy with all she got, and enjoyed her little party. We went to a buffet restaurant on her actual b-day, and I behaved myself. My little treat was a piece of fried chicken, eating some of the breading (not all), and a small bowl of cream of broccoli & cheese soup. Otherwise, I stayed on plan. Then on the day of her party, we bought pizza. I made for myself a pizza, with a soy & parmesean cheese crust. I ate a little sf ice cream. On Easter, we went to my mom's house, and I ate a small sweet potato, along with ham & some of the cauliflower casserole that I had made. I've been doing very well overall. I really do want to see my weight go down, and more importantly, stay down. I dread being a yo-yo dieter. To cheer myself up last week, I went over to another board and read about others who were having trouble staying on plan. That has helped me. It helps to know that others are in the same boat.

Niccole - We ended up not going to Chuck E. Cheese afterall. My DH feels like it's a waste of money. So instead, we went to the buffet restaurant that I mentioned, let the kids pick out a small toy at a store, and then we got them a PS2 game. Everyone's happy!

I bet we're having the same weather, and you guys got some snow too! At this point, my kids never think that summer is coming. I keep telling them to hang in there, b/c it will get here eventually.

I hope you're feeling better, or at least doing okay. Those last few weeks are the hardest. I bet the next time you post, you'll be telling us your L&D story. I look forward to reading it!

Lee - Speaking of teeth, the whole family went to get their teeth cleaned on the same day (all 5 of us), and no one had a cavity! The Dr. said that I was doing a good job with the kids, and must not be giving them a lot of sugar. That's true! I'm careful with how much sugar they have, and make sure they brush their teeth every night before bed. I had cavities in most of my teeth as a kid, and I refuse to let them go through that.

So, did you need to go and have your tooth looked at? I bet the pain would have to be really bad before you'd do that.

We're all in the same boat with the weather!

Thankfully, everyone has been healthy this month. I hope and pray it stays that way!

I occasionally get clothes for my kids too, but it has to be in ready to wear condition, or else I get rid of it. I am not a seamstress, and cannot do much beyond sew on a button, or sew up a small whole.

House organizing is a very slow process. It didn't get disorganized overnight, and it's not going to get organized that way either. Slow and steady as they say!

My DH had to work a 12 hr. day yesterday, and a 12 hr. day today. Let's just say, he's tired. He has the next 2 days off, so he can get some rest. He's concerned that he'll be called in for overtime on the weekend. I hope that it doesn't happen. My DH doesn't like spending any extra time at his job, b/c it's not something he enjoys. He only does it to support the family.

...I just got home from work a short time ago and I'm ready to fall into bed.
I may not get in until later this week.
Life is too busy.
I get up at 3:30am for DH.He leaves by 5am and is back by 6pm.
Our poor DH's
I get about an hour more sleep before I have to get the kids up for school.
I also bought an exercycle($5 2nd hand)and have made time every day for it
The snow hasn't stopped!!!
It was nice last weekend (my brother and his family were here-nice visit)
I just got through TOM too,I'm enduring my tooth.I want to get the kids in first.
I hear you about being on plan.I made homemade pizza tonight(I make it every Friday)and I had a couple of pieces(sigh)
I feel bad because my SIL is a new LC'er and was looking to me for support, advice, motivation and here I've lost my way
I made lasagna, potato salad and burgers etc...for their visit.

How's the organizing going?

Well, I'm still hanging in there. Almost 39 weeks and waiting impatiently for this little guy to make an appearance. I went to the doctor on Wednesday and she said 3.5 cms dilated...so now I know it's time, but he doesn't seem to think so just yet. They sent me for yet another ultrasound yesterday (Friday) because of my measurement...but he is doing fine, just as I said. Oh the miracles of modern medicine

It's been so nice out the past 2 days. Sunny and warm. I'm sure it'll turn cold again

Lee - Sounds like you are up early and keeping busy. Long hours for your DH. It's hard not to stray occasionally from LC. My mom just started back on LC because she decided it was time. I think she's lost 8 pounds, so I hope it keeps her motivated for awhile.

Mary - Glad everyone had such good dental reports. Jack and I are due to go again in July for cleanings and checkups. I do think monitoring sugar intake really helps with the teeth. Oh, and that whole organizing thing...yuck. I've done a lot of cleaning, organizing and sorting myself lately. As my husband says "nesting" stuff...I'm just glad to get it done whatever the motivation behind it. Then I won't have to do it again for awhile

I'll keep you all posted on the remainder of my pregnancy. Maybe it will be a short wait

Take care.
Niccole

Hi Niccole-glad to hear you have the *all clear*
I'm sure the next time we hear from you it will be with the joyous news
(when you find time of course )
The only thing that gets me organized for a time is a move,we are due any time...

My poor kids,I do watch their sugar but even milk, juice, cereal etc...affects their teeth.I often worked nights and relied on the sitters for bedtime routines but ultimately it's my fault they had some cavities.Selena has only had one thus far(and she is 7).Chey I thought had lots but she really had dark spots(I guess beige is cavity activity)and the dentist took advantage of my nievette and filled them.Cody had beautiful teeth and then all of the sudden out of nowhere cavities that took off(the dentist confirmed they were from the inside out) and my poor son,I saw stuff happening to his teeth when he was a baby and only BF.My mom had her teeth out at a young age I guess they came out bad and my dad had his out before his twenties.I almost wonder if it's the water here or something because mine are crumbling.
As you can see I'm a bit stressed about the dentist thing

Mary that is so wonderful you had the *all clear* at the dentist.Wish me luck.Last year it cost considerable amount and who knows what this year holds.I don't even know if Dayton will sit still.I really don't want him *put under*. Chey had a thing called a space maintainer as they pulled 3 of the teeth that the last dentist *killed* well it kept breaking and falling out and every time I had to bring her in and get it repaired and it cost over a $100 each time to fix.So the last time it fell out I said to beep with it.2 of her teeth are in and one has yet to appear. The dentist will question me on it I'm sure and I'll have to justify it.Also the metal scraped her teeth and gums and I was tired of hearing her complain about it(I'd mentioned it to the dentist to no avail).Oh well...

well sorry y'all I didn't mean to get so long inded on the topic LOL
I should get to bed another late night at work and I got home everyone was asleep(and probably didn't brush their teeth...)

Spring is here, the yard if filling up quickly with dandelions. I hope my DH gets some weed killer ASAP. Nothing like a yard filled with weeds! The allergies have been pretty bad too. I just have to keep popping the pills, and I manage to get through the day.

SO sorry to hear about your dentist woes, Lee! I thought about what I wrote afterwards, hoping it didn't bother you. I remember you mentioning it before, having trouble with your kids teeth (and yours too). I have problems with gingivitis. My gums have been troubling me, for as long as I can remember. This month has been particularly bad (bleeding, swollen gums). I'm been contemplating calling the dentist, to see what they suggest. I'll probably do a search on-line before doing that, to see if there are any home remedies I can try first. I swish mouth wash several times a day, to keep it a little under control.

Everyone is healthy and doing fine for now. Keeping them on-track with school is getting difficult. They are ready for their summer break now. I slowed down with my thrift-store shopping, but I'm back to it, finding summer bargains. I'm picking up stuff for myself too, since I'm bigger than last summer. I have a considerably smaller wardrobe to chose from. My DH told me to go shopping at a department store, but I told him that I didn't want to waste the money, since I wasn't going to be big forever. I'm trying to stay positive. Some days are better than others.

Hi Niccole and Dawn!

....funny that if stress is so unhealthy for us that it is such an inherent part of our nature...

Hi Mary-no I'm not bothered at all,it never occurred to me to be so.I'm sincerely happy for your family and very worried about mine on that topic plain and simple

Chey suffered from gingivitis and they said to brush with soft bristles and get under the gumline regularily.Yes the misery of the human body,it's always something. How is the lump?Just a memory now I hope.

I'd just like to lose my spare tire.I am quite active and do some serious exercise.I guess it all boils down to that I have to work harder.I am aware how fortunate I am that overall the family and I are in good health. There are many out there fighting fiercer battles.

So my latest dilemma is that we bought a tent and DH wants to go camping this summer. He has weekends off but I reminded him that I work weekends so he told me to try and get a different shift(as his shift is changing from 5am-5pm to 12am to 12pm).I could go back to being 1-5 and I'm still home to get dinner on the table and make sure he gets to bed at a decent hour, then I'll have to keep the kids busy and quiet in the evenings. That's if the boss is alright with that.I mentioned maybe I could work alternate weekends and he'd rather see me have them off and that maybe I should quit. The only time I've *quit* was to move or have a baby.He knows I won't.

The last time we went camping was 4 years ago and I used to drive in and out to work but that was hard.I do have to make family a priority and they need this.I just always worry about if something happens with his job.He said
I could get a job in a heart beat if necessary and that's true...I guess I'm one of those strangely loyal types.

well it's finally spring here 0c today
but the tulips are coming up.Hope we don't get rain or we'll flood for sure.
sorry to hear your allergies are acting up.I've been lucky not to be so afflicted( )

I seriously need clothes too and my closet is full of stuff i don't fit but plan to again someday.
I've been given mountains of clothes for the kids and I'm swamped.
Our sitter gave lots and Chey likes it but didn't want to wear anything as she might see her in it at school.I said it would please her to know they're used and it's nothing to be embarrassed of.I'm such a serious recycler that I can't justify buying new. That last girl we sat for(who is in Chey's class said our clothes were *crap* but yet she was always "borrowing" them from her.

I was stigmatized as a child for wearing 2nd hand and I remember it well. But my clothes did look ugly and I really stood out. These clothes are name brand and immaculate so I hope Chey don't develop that sense of shame.

Here I go rambling again.I have to get Dayton and Cody ready to go do errands.I'm loathe to do so these days as Dayton is now in that stage that he doesn't want to be imprisoned in the cart so I'm trying to teach him about life on the *outside*.So we've had a few temper tamptrums where he has screamed or laid down on the floor, yeah I don't miss this age.Thank goodness this is the last one LOL

Well, I'm still waiting... I went for my 39 week appt and she said I'm now 90%effaced, 4 cm dialated, and he's at 0/+1 so he's slowly creeping to daylight! I'm still only having sporadic contractions but just braxton hicks. Not the real deal. I'm trying to keep busy and keep up with the laundry, house, bills, groceries, etc so when I do go into "labor" things are okay around here. I'm just uncomfortable because he is so very low. It's hard to sit comfortably or walk sometimes. I think he's waiting for his due date (Monday).

Lee - I think it's great to recycle clothes. I shop at the 2nd hand kids stores for Jack and baby stuff. And my sisters and my mom and I swap stuff we no longer can wear or just don't wear between us all the time. I do think the quality is important...and if I wouldn't wear it then I wouldn't force my kids to wear it, ya know?

Mary - We just had the dandelion discussion here. They popped up this week and they are everywhere. But considering we live in the country and even if we try to get rid of them the spores just blow from the surrounding areas, we decided not to worry about them anymore. It would just be impossible to eradicate them and we don't have the energy. But we don't have allergies either...or we might try!

Anyway, I have a few errands today so I better go.
Take care.

My allergies have been so bad, that I finally broke down and called the Dr. to get a prescription. They called one in for me, and I went to pick it up. I found out it cost $44.00 per month, and decided against it. So now I'm popping allergy pills like candy, and hoping this doesn't last much longer. It's hard to get anything done when your head is fuzzy, your eyes watery, you're sneezing regularly, and all you want to do is lay down to sleep.

I am very picky about what 2nd hand clothes I buy. They have to look new before I'll let my kids wear them. I was raised wearing 2nd hand clothes too, and my mother wasn't nearly as picky as me. My kids don't care at this point about where their clothes come from. They're just happy to have a large assortment to choose from.

My DH and I decided to let Leah go another year to school. She's doing well in her class for children with speech problems, but she still has a ways to go. It will be the same teachers, same classroom, many of her same classmates, but with a different time. (afternoons instead of mornings). I wish she didn't need to go, but alas, she does. I just had a meeting with her teachers, and she's currently at a 2 yr. 2 mth level for speech. Her actual age is 4 yrs. 7 mths, so you can see how far she's behind.

Lee - Camping sounds like fun. I don't think we'll ever go camping the traditional way (tent). Someday I'd like us to go up north, and stay in a cabin or motel, and let the kids see the great out-doors. My DH and I were just talking today (at a store), to a guy my DH works with. He was telling us how he went up north (in Wisconsin), and saw Bald Eagles, a bear, and other wild life. I'd like my children to visit a wilderness. We don't have anything like that around here, with us living in the city. I hope you guys figure out a way to do it!

The lump is gone, thanks for asking.

Niccole - How exciting to be so close! You'll probably be home with baby, by the time you read this. I'll be waiting to hear all about how it went.

After looking around at how many people have dandelions in their yards (just about everyone), I'm no longer that concerned. We don't live in a posh neighborhood, so it's not like we have to keep up with everyone else. Thankfully.

Dawn!

hi ladies!

...I never worry too much about dandelions either but to cut them and have them grow back but I don't stress about it and all the neighbours are usually in the same boat.I'm constantly picking up toys though(wanting to look unfettered like my neighbours)and really isn't it enough to be picking up on the inside

We used to be avid campers.Wildlife is out our back door Mary.Moose and deer just walk right down the street(and they did back in our other province too). How far North do you intend to go?

My boss will work around me thankfully but I gavve her a heads up anyway.

So Leah remaining in school is a good thing right?

Sorry to hear your allergies are giving you grief.
All is well here.Selena has a bit of a cold.
I hopped back on plan today.I'm hungry and weak and therefore don't feel like exercising(but i will).I'm giving myself 8 weeks to be strict and lose hopefully 10lbs.I should've started tomorrow after I bought groceries but oh well.

How's things in that dept. for you?

Hi Niccole-fingers crossed and waiting in anticipation for you!
The baby isn't perchance posterior is he?
3 of mine were and that was why I had lengthy labors.
Good luck!!!

Lee - No, not a lengthy labor really...read the story below.

Well, he's here And in dramatic fashion no less.

Okay, so on the 24th I was 4 cm dialated, 90% effaced, and he was at 0/+1. And my contractions were just really sporadic. Like a few a day but none really together. On Saturday morning, the 28th, my 3 year old woke me up at 2:30 am because he couldn't sleep. I took him back to bed and laid down with him and wouldn't you know at 2:47 am my water broke. I went in woke up my husband and we got ready to go. We called the doc and she said come in ASAP because my contractions would get uncomfortable since my water broke. My SIL arrived a little after 3 am to stay with my son and we left. So we are driving down our driveway at 3:10 am. Now, we have a 45 minute drive to the hospital and I started getting contractions on the way. They started about 8 minutes apart and quickly got closer.

So we arrive at the hospital and my contractions were very painful. I couldn't sit in the wheelchair because it hurt. So I walked to the elevator. We get up to the L&D floor and I had a really bad contraction so I kneeled down on the floor waiting for the people ahead of me to get checked in. When I started to check in I just stopped and said he's coming now...I felt a burning pain and just knew. So they literally jumped into action, threw me in a wheelchair, raced me to a room. I arrived in the room, laid down and they had to undress me because I couldn't due to the contractions. And then she said bear down because he was crowning. And with one push he arrived More like shot out all in one push. So like 2 minutes after we got to the labor room

But he's healthy. He was 6 lbs, 7 oz and 19 3/4 inches long. A little skinny fellow And I survived I had a little tearing, but nothing too bad. All the nurses kept saying that's the way to do it. Less than an hour of true pain and then a baby.

And that's my story. Hope it doesn't frighten anyone because it was so quick.

I'll try to get some pics up in a day or 2. In the meantime I think you can see his first photo at the following link:

http://www.growingfamily.com/webnurs...LID=2833241843

Take care ladies! I'm off to enjoy time with my 2 boys. Or 3 if you include DH.

Oh, I posted a few other pictures in the thread for pregnant or TTC for April. Go have a peek!

Congrats Niccole!!!!
I'm so glad you are safely through it.
Good to see you up and around too
I miss that new baby stuff but not the sleeplessness and diapers etc...
How's that going?
My 3rd Cody was a quick birth and took me by surprise too.
It was a half hour drive to the hospital and I was ready and still had to wait appx 45 min's for my Dr to show up.The nurse told me she could deliver but I held on.As soon as he walked in the door and had his gloves on I might have pushed twice and she was out...that was intense!
I tried to see the pix but the site wasn't working.I'll try again and peek in on the thread you mentioned.
I'm so happy for you guys.

Hi Mary-how's things there?
I haven't done much for exercising but am painfully staying true and am down 3lbs which I'm sure is water.
I've never been too far from plan but now it's down to drastic measures(watch the snacking, eating at night etc and yes even being aware of calories-I had ranch in my tuna over mayo as it was 40 cal's less)
So it's still cold here.DH is off today(truck needs repair) and took DS to the barber. This sitting still in the chair is also practice for his upcoming dentist visit.
How's the organizing going? I've started myself without meaning to...
I'm a little more up to date on some DVD's as there has been some sales($5 a DVD).I picked up A Series Of Unfortunate Events.I actually liked it too.I also picked up a couple "Roach Approach" movies, have you saw them?
Anyway I guess I should get back to my housecleaning.Cody is watching a video,it's so quiet with only one child in the house LOL

My DH is being slammed with overtime, due to a shortage of workers. Several people quit around the same time, and they were already short to begin with. Next week I'll barely see him, with him either working 12hr. or 16hr. days. It will be hard keeping the kids quiet, but I'll try. I'm thinking of taking them down to the basement to watch movies, and play with their toys. The DH and I are both feeling stressed out by it. Hopefully, prayerfully, the situation improves ASAP.

Before continuing, let me say - Congrats Niccole!!!! Wow, that was a quick L&D! I'm not sure if you want anymore children, but if you do, you better spend the last week in or near the hospital! I thought 4 hrs. was short for my 3rd child, but you proved me wrong!

Lee - We live in the SE corner of Wisconsin, only about an hour away from the Illinois border (the state to the South of us). So I'd like to go up to the NE side of Wisconsin. I've never been up there. It's much quieter, with smaller/fewer cities, and more wildlife/forests/vegetation. It would be educational for the kids, not to mention fun. It would be cool to see deer and moose right outside your house!

Leah back in school for another year, is both a good and bad thing. Good for Leah, bad for me. It hasn't been an easy year, with a child being sexually abused at the school Leah attends, and with the school regularly pushing for money (fundraisers, asking for donations, book sales, etc...). More importantly, I want to be the one teaching Leah. I don't like turning her over to strangers for 3 hours a day. She is unable to tell me what happens during that time - good or bad. I'm just going to have to deal with it though, b/c Leah has ever so slowly been making improvements. I won't let my own fears/insecurities/irritations hold her back.

I'm currently fighting a battle to lose weight. I am more serious now, then during the past year or two (or even last month). I haven't gotten to the calorie-counting stage, however. That would be pushing myself to a new depth, one I'm not sure I could reach. I am though, being very careful with carbs. I have eliminated anything I feel could be causing me to gain weight. This has to work, b/c my clothes have gotten embarrassingly snug. I had to go out and buy myself some new clothes for church/home. I'm trying hard to stay positive, and not let it get me down. Some days are better than others. I'm glad that you are staying strong, and am having success. I hear ya on getting down to drastic measures! I'm too chicken to get on the scale yet, but I hope to find the courage in a week or two. I'll talk about exercising, when I get back to doing it.

It's cool here, but slowly warming up. We're close to Lake Michigan, so we take longer to warm up, then those who live further inland.

I've slowed down on the organizing, but am doing a bit here and there. I have big plans for the basement, but need to get some shelves up first, and buy more storage bins. I have really cleared out alot of toys, clothes, and other miscellaneous items from the house. Why do we still seem to have too much stuff??

I don't know anything about the movies you mentioned. What's "Roach Approach?" Dare I ask?? LOL. Our most recent movie acquisition was, "A Night at the Museum." It was better than I thought it would be. I like it b/c there's not junk in it (swearing, violence, sexuality). I can let the kids watch it without a remote in my hands (to fast forward or mute anything).

BTW, allergies are under control. I went to the store and bought several different meds. I take a combination of pills now, that seems to help. I think I'll live!!

Hi Gals

...so I have my kids virus and TOM and I've been back on plan for a week now and am having horrible cravings but otherwise all is well
...well sorta
One of DH's aunts did die(the other one is still battling her cancer).
Her funeral is Friday and we wouldn't have been going to it anyway.
DH's family has a lot of baggage and basically they said we could never get together(we hardly did before, there was alot of maneuvering to keep families apart)but it's all in the open now and making for hard feelings...

...then today Selena was beside herself, she changed twice and still wasn't satisfied and then ended up in tears.Apparently there is a girl that teases her about her clothes and I do remember her remarking last week that a girl didn't like her swimsuit and I'd said she was probably just jealous. So we dig deeper and this girl has bothered her for awhile(tripped her last year on purpose etc...).I told her to tell the girl next time she is telling the teacher and that we'll be talking to her parents.I found out her last name and it turns out that her Mom is our doctor and her Dad is DH's doctor. How's that for interesting? I also reassured her that her clothes are fine and the girl is being *mean* maybe for extra attention or something.Public school huh!!!

...so what plans have y'all for Mother's Day?
I always have BBQ steak and we'll be doubling up Cody's Bday for that day(her actual BDay is on Monday but with school,DH work and I babysit,it's already a busy day).
The next weekend is our long weekend and we are going camping.Hopefully it'll warm up by then.

Hi Mary-your poor DH!!!and you
I know too well how hard it is to keep kids quiet so DH can rest.I'll be going through the same thing coming up.DH will sleep from 5pm to 11pm and my kids don't go to bed until almost 9pm.It should be real interesting

Well like you said you can't overly worry about things beyond your control.Hopefully at Leah's school, safety protocols are properly in place and there won't be any further incidents.
Our school is steady with fundraisers too.
If I'm busy with 2 in school I'm worried how it'll be with 4.I do faithfully by the book orders.I spend very little money but always have some for a book.
It's teacher appreciation week this week and tomorrow is my baking day. There is 75 teachers,we don't have to bake that much but I probably will.I'm making cinnamon buns and doughnuts.

Roach Approach is similar to Veggie Tales...
It's Noah's Ark and Daniel in the Lions Den etc...told by roaches on scene.Cute, my kids love them.
How's the battle of the bulge going?
I broke down and bought 2 size 11/12 jeans so I can be comfortable while I attempt to get back to my size 8/9's
sigh exercise will still have to wait awhile

anyway I should run Cody is hanging off me and my messy house beckons...

Hi Dawn-if you're ever by this way
and waves to Niccole who is terribly busy I'm sure

This month has been nice, weather-wise. Some days warm, some days cool, but no heat used in May so far!

With my DH doing nothing but working, and sleeping, I won't be having much of a Mother's Day. The kids and I are going over to my mom's house after church tomorrow. I bought her some flowers, and a Starbuck's gift card. We'll be spending the day over there.

I don't know if I've lost any weight, but my eating has been under-control this month. I don't snack nearly as much as I used to, and I stay full much longer. Yesterday, I did have a serious craving for chocolate. I bought a small bag of sf chocolates (Dove, my favorite), and ate them all in the grocery store parking lot. They so hit the spot. I barely ate anything for the rest of the day after that. No serious damage there. My eating is still on track, with the cravings all gone. Good thing that doesn't happen very often.

Yesterday, Leah fell down our basement steps for the 2nd time in recent months. It makes my heart stop hearing her tumble down. The 1st time she did it, it took a few weeks for her to go back down the stairs by herself. This time she just went back down right away. I seriously hope this is the last time! I thank God she's been okay both times. <sigh>

Lee - I can't blame my cravings yesterday on TOM, since it's not due for another 2 weeks. Maybe I was ovulating?? Did you give in to your cravings?

It seems like most families are a mess. My younger sister doesn't talk to me at all, and she only recently started talking to my mom after months of refusing to talk to her. She's not mad at me, we've just never been close (same thing with my other sister). My DH's side of the family is the same way, with there being little to no closeness between anyone. It's sad, but what can you do?

Peer pressure is horrible in schools. My kids may be home-schooled, but they can't avoid it altogether, with there being cliques and pressures at church. Elijah has even been bullied a few times. I had to talk to a mom before, about her son hurting Elijah (physically). My mom told me the cliques are bad at her church. It seems to be normal for kids to be like that. It helps for kids to have a good home life, where they can get the love and support they need. I'm sure with your help, Selena will get through this.

to Cody! What kind of cake did you bake?

...so I'm feeling blue and also I've caught the virus my kids have had.I took Cody to the dentist on Tues and no cavities. Then I took Dayton on Wed.and he has 5-7 cavities? I'm just sick.I knew his teeth were bad from the get go.The dentist actually took him from the room and then gave me the *talk*(how despite genetics or conditions, ultimately it's hygeine that creates the bond from bad to worse).I,of course, agreed with her.Seriously I almost broke down in tears but kept my composure and I made no excuses like the fact I worked alot and wasn't home to put my kids to bed and make sure their teeth was brushed.I did brush his teeth once or twice on a daily basis and she said I should have brushed them ten times a day(after every drink and snack-not with toothpaste just a plain brush).

Anyway she doesn't want to fix his teeth preferring not to work on young children and I reminded her she did Cody's at a similar age.I convinced her to do one tooth just to see how he is because I would like to avoid having him "put under"and a specialist doing it as that's the alternative.I admitted I should've brought him in sooner but that I was waiting until I was sure he could understand and sit still plus we have been financially burdened.I still need to get my oldest 2 in for their checkups and cleanings but will wait a bit until Dayton's is done. His and Cody's checks were $164 altogether and then it'll be over $700 over the span of 8 weeks to get all his work done.Yes a dental plan would be nice.

I could see in her eyes that she felt I was neglectful. She also said his throat looked bad and that I should get him in to a doctor(which I did the next day, they took a swab and I called the lab but it takes a couple of days to grow a culture). He has a bit of a cold now but no fever and he has an appetite and is eating everything in sight so I don't know.Even her assistant gave me a bit of the *whatfor*.I wish I could say I was being sensitive but it was for real.Sigh...I've felt crappy ever since and yeah I'm currently brushing his teeth after every meal and drink

Anyway Cody had a nice party. We were going to go swimming but friends came over and the visiting children hadn't seen their dad for over a month and didn't want to leave his sight,so we opted not to go.I might take them to a pool out of town later this weekend if our health improves.I made her a double layered white cake and I'll post the pic maybe next time I'm in.I only had a bite of it.I was strong until recently.I guess the worse thing I've ate was cereal 3 mornings in a row because I was rushed with appointments. The kids broke my scale 2 weeks ago and that was not a good thing

So I have bread to bake,a dog to take out in the rain(she pooped in her bed this morning and I'm not happy). Two other similar accidents also occurred on rainy days. Then I have to be up at 3:30am to get DH up for work.

Poor Leah!
My kids have given me similar scares.Once Cody fell down a flight of steep stairs(her sisters left the door open)and she hit the brick wall that was close to the bottom. It was terrifying.I hope I can raise up my kids safely and without having a complete nervous breakdown.

So my TOM is far off of yours now.I must be out of whack.
Ovulation never triggered cravings for me.I can always tell when I am.I bloat and get a tummy ache,it's really weird.I feel lighter during TOM.The only bad part of TOM is my emotions are crazy. My last one was also 10 days and that was not nice.I might have to confess that I am getting older. My hips and thighs seem to be getting larger too and that's a scary thought.

So hope DH isn't working so much now.Did you have a good Mother's Day?
and how about the rest of y'all?
anyway I should run
duty calls

It was freezing yesterday, but the house stayed warm and no heat was used. Today we're back up twenty degrees. No wonder people are getting sick. Moriah (7) was just sick this past weekend, and was throwing up. She's fine now. I feel horrible from PMS. I woke up at 4am this morning, in lots of pain. I had to take 3 ibuprofen in order to go back to sleep. Still no sign of TOM. It will probably arrive tomorrow. I crashed and burned with my WOE. I cannot buy anything I might crave before TOM arrives. I bought the kids some potato wedges, and they barely ate any. I ofcourse, had to finish them all. Then I got them carry-out pizza, and had to help them eat it. After TOM leaves, I'll be back on track with a lesson well learned. No more wedges, no more pizza. Not until I'm sure that I am well under control (2 mths minimum). Store bought pizza isn't a problem, so they can have that.

Lee - Sorry to hear you've been sick! I hope you're feeling better by now.

10 times a day???!! I don't brush my kids teeth anywhere near that often, and there hasn't been any problems. I make sure their teeth are brushed before bedtime, and rarely allow them to have sugary drinks. I've started to encourage Elijah (8) to brush his teeth twice a day, but that's only been this year. I don't think putting the guilt trip on you was the way to go. They only needed to state the facts, and leave it at that. We moms put enough guilt on ourselves, we certainly don't need any from outsiders. I wouldn't have liked that. I can't believe you guys have to foot the whole bill yourselves! Wow. We used to have dental insurance that covered 80% of cleanings, but we switched and now have 100% coverage. I know of some moms who work just for the health insurance alone. I certainly feel for your situation! We have been in plenty of tight places before. One time my DH had to use a credit card to cover our medical bills, before he got his current job. The bills were coming right and left, and we didn't have the money to cover them. That's why we're still paying off those credit cards. It will take a number of years to fully pay them off.

My DH is still working lots of over-time. It is totally stressing him out (not to mention, me). We like the extra money, but not at the cost of my DH being exhausted, stressed, and gone alot. We're trying to hang in there, until it eventually comes to an end. He's been there for going on 7 years, and this is the worst so far with over-time.

My hormones have been out of whack too! I hate feeling so sensitive, and bothered by every little thing. I took Elijah to his Tae Kwon Dao class today, and fell asleep in the van while waiting for him. I was way too tired and sore to sit on the benches they provide for parents inside. This PMS has been one of the worst. I hear there's a pill that women can take, that will keep TOM away for as long as you take it. I'd like to find out more about it. It sounds wonderful to never have TOM.

Mother's Day was fine. We went to my mom's house, and visited for a little while. Then I had to get home to make my DH's dinner, before he got into bed. I made a new friend at church. She's a single mother of two young boys. We met at the park last Friday. We're planning on getting together this week, too. It's nice to have a woman to talk to. With my DH working so much, it's nice to have any adult to talk to! I've even been talking to my mom more these days.

I'm trying to plan some fun things for the kids this summer. I'm picking up the kids Great America tickets tomorrow (amusement park). It's the free tickets they earned from reading for 6 hours. I get a free ticket for being their teacher. I'm going to pick a day for us to go next month. We'll also be going to the zoo sometime. Ofcourse, there will be lots of trips to the various parks in town. I'd like to take them to the Milwaukee Museum too (a big city north of us). I'll also be working on teaching Moriah to ride her bike this summer. I tried last summer, but she was too afraid and it didn't work out. Elijah will be going to camp in July for 5 days, for the first time (it's a church camp). All in all, summer is much looked forward to by all. I have to push the kids to get their school work done.

What are your plans?

oh mary

sorry to hear your TOM is so rough.I really can't complain as there is little pain involved.I hope you are feeling better
I'm ok,sore throat and cough still,mainly I'm just blue...
I've been misbehaving as well, not too bad(granola,a small portion of rice with meat and salad,fruit-never eat this but have been in an attempt to *get healthy*
oh well the scale is up 5 lbs
I've been rereading Atkins and Protein Power.
Really I need to exercise.I ate way more carbs before but I was also more active.

So it snowed here the last 2 days and the kids went to school in winter boots,coats,etc...

My DH's job is not working out...he's had troubles with this one fellow right from the get go and now this guy accused my DH of sabotaging his truck(and a few weird things had happened to DH's truck that he thought was suspect).A few of the guys are on drugs, one threatened to slash another's tires...really crazy...anyway DH(of course)did not do it but the company doesn't like the chaos so my DH's employer(who has a few trucks)is going to move him to hauling ashphalt but here too is a job that works around the weather(which is always terrible here). So you spend considerable time not working at your job.

So he's off for now and missed some work due to freezeups and truck repairs. So his last cheque will pay rent, what bills we can and groceries.I so tire of living like this.My plans for summer may be working and not cutting back as much as I'd hoped.

I feel for your DH and the long hours but at least his job is secure?
I can't imagine living this way forever(hand to mouth),we have college and weddings etc..for the kids in the future. When Dayton is in school fulltime I really need to find something I want to do that has benefits and job security.

Last year we spent appx $1000 with the dentist and it'll be more this year(DH's teeth cost $400ish)earlier this year and I still have to get Chey and Selena in for theirs after Dayton's is done.I have tax money coming in next month that'll cover maybe two thirds of Dayton's teeth, otherwise I'll be upping my credit card again too.Sigh...

anyways hang in there
don't worry about me LOL

32 days after my last TOM, this one arrived. They usually are 26-28 days apart, and never late. I had a very difficult, week-long PMS. It was the worst since I can remember when. Maybe peri-menopause is rearing its ugly head. My mom said her TOMs started changing around this time. <sigh> She had such a hard time with menopause, too. At least 10 years of it, with all the symptoms.

Weather has been great, however. No complaints there. This month has been spring-like for the most part. At least our gas bill will be very low.

You're right Lee, about my DH's job being secure. There's not the least little possibility of him ever losing his job. In fact, they're desperate for good workers. Think you guys would like to move down south, to a new country??? Over-time is continuing to be a problem, but we're not complaining about the checks. They are way bigger than usual. I've been able to buy things that I usually have to wait until tax return time for. No complaints from my DH about how much I spend on groceries either. So there is a flip side.

No weight-loss will happen until after TOM leaves the premises, in a few days. I'm vowing to get back to exercising too. I really think that will help. I'd prefer being in shape anyways, during the summer. I need to be able to keep up with the kids. Speaking of kids, they got to fly kites for the first time ever (last Fri.). They loved it. We'll be going to the park again this Friday. It's become a weekly event this month. I like doing it before the summer's heat really hits. When it's hot & humid, I avoid going outside as much as possible.

Lee - I'm so with you on feeling blue. In fact, yesterday morning at church, I was sitting in my pew feeling down. The pastor's wife came over and told me how beautiful my children were, how I always dress them so nicely, and how well behaved they are. She said that I was a good mommy. It really made my day and made me feel lots better. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. I think we all need to hear something positive from time to time. Nothing like hearing that we're doing something right.

You too on exercising? I thought it was just me. I was talking to my aunt today, about how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off. I told her that the one area I've stayed strong, is not eating sugar. I told her that I need to exercise, which is my weakest area. She said that exercising was the one thing that she's been consistent with. She's been doing it for years and years, which is why she believes that she's not bigger than she is (about 20-30 lbs overweight). That helped encourage me to get back to exercising. I plan on starting tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Keep me posted on your DH's job situation. I look forward to reading about him finding a secure job of his own. I hope you're feeling better too! I'll be feeling better in about 3 days.

Hi Niccole and Dawn!

hi mary

good luck getting through the next few days...I think my TOM is on it's way back again just by how I'm feeling.Really I should track it on the calendar.

so I really have no reason for not exercising(I could find the time and the kids will even let me LOL).I'm just tired and not inclined.I halfheartedly do the bike, rower, stepper while the kids watch a video, but I don't break a sweat or even feel it so I know I'm not *working out*
I used to exercise before bed and now I just fall into bed.

Flying kites...bet the kids thought that was cool, love the firsts and what wonderful memories they make...

...we tossed a frisbee around today,it's nice to get outside but the mosquitoes have been atrocious, today was windy so they weren't as bad.

nah we aren't moving across the line.I can't see my DH in your DH's line of work...and there is a similar need up here.

He'll probably go up north logging again and we won't see him for long spells and then eventually we'll move. He's just waiting on his employer to pay him up as it costs money to go get a job for accomadations etc...

that's wonderful to receive such a nice compliment at a time you needed a lift.
My blue is of my own creation but it's a place I don't dwell and easily step
out of and no one is even aware of it

anyway must run
good luck getting on that fitness plan

I'm now motivated to lose the weight. The kids and I are going to Great America (amusement park) with my friend from church, and one of her children. She's on a "crash diet" (her own words) to lose weight to make sure she can fit on the rides. That and I heard about someone I used to know, who lost tons of weight and looks great. I might see her one of these days, and she'll see big ol' me. I've been wanting to lose weight, as anyone reading my posts over the last year or two will know. I think this may be the time. As long as my body cooperates. If I am one of those people who has to take drastic measures to lose the weight, forget it. So we'll see!

The weather has been warm (too warm some days), and now we've been cool yesterday and today. It's been a welcome relief. Tomorrow we warm back up again. I hope it's not too warm when we go to Great America on June 19th. I wanted to go in June before the summer heat really gets going. Plus, it won't be as busy as July or August.

My DH has actually gotten to the point where he'll sign up for overtime voluntarily! I told him not to do it anymore. He's still getting enough manditory overtime. He said that I like to spend the money, but I'd prefer to have him around more. Money is nice, but family is more important.

Moriah's (7) done with school, and both Elijah (8) and Leah (4) finish up next week. It's been tough getting Elijah to focus. He's ready for his summer break ASAP. We're all looking forward to the break.

Lee - I really want to exercise, but I'm too tired as well. I haven't been sleeping very good lately. My stomach was bothering me last night, and it's been bothering me today. The only good thing is, I haven't felt much like eating. When I'm feeling better I'll get back to it. I did start, but it didn't last very long.

How's it going for you? Any more snow? You mentioned mosquitos, so I'd guess no. I don't see how you could have both mosquitos and snow.

Any changes with the job situation (yours or your DH's)?
