Pregnancy Thread~~~4/7 to 4/13~~~

Morning All!!
Hope everyone's doing great!!!
Congrats on all New Babes!!
And Good Luck on all New Pregnancy's!!!
Seems Monday has become my only day with time to get on here and see how everyone is doing.
I'm doing okay myself. The weather here has been jumping around from the 80's one day back down to the 40's the next. That and the pollen is playing havic with my allergies. So, I'm just trying to hang in there. I'm still swelling pretty bad but there are no other symptons so they're not worried about it being anything serious. I guess it's just the warmer weather playing havoc with my system.
Other than that nothing really exciting happening. We've been trying to get a stroller but every time we decide on a style it gets sold out before we get there. So, then we have to decide all over again. UGH!!! So, far we've gone thru 3 styles. 2 being discontinued and the 3rd they don't know when they'll get any more in. It seems the fates are against us. LOL
Well, I know this isn't much but I need to go get my shower before DD wakes for the day. Talk to everyone again soon!!
Take Care!!!

Dawn

Dawn: Thanks for getting us started. Glad to hear everything is well with you

Sarah: Good luck!!!!!! I can't wait to hear your birth story, hope you and baby are home soon enjoying each other. Please keep us posted when you return. We love you!!!!!

I'm doing well. Getting anxious. 38 weeks 5 days. I can't believe it sometimes. I should have this baby in another week or so. I delivered Melissa the day before my due date and started labor 3 days before. So that doesn't leave much time. I'm packing my bag today, doing some grocery shopping and organizing stuff. Trying to pass the days quickly!

HOpe everyone has a wonderful week. PLease check in and give us an update....

COngrats to all the ladies w/ the new babies!

And I wanted to invite you *WHEN YOU ARE READY* To the Bouncing back after baby thread.

We are right here in the maintain lane...most are breastfeeding, some are FF. And most have more than 1 child...so there is lots of good advice there.

So, come on over when you are ready

Congratulations Sarah and welcome Emma! So she beat you to the punch and decided on her own birthday, huh? Wow, 1.5 hours, that was a fast labor! Looking forward to hearing all about it. I hope you get the rest you undoubtedly need.

Hi Lisa, fellow Canuck (I'm from Montreal)! Thanks for the invitation. I've actually been lurking on the Bouncing Back threads as well as the Pregnancy ones ever since I was TTC. Reading your stories inspires me and gives me hope that I'll be able to manage too once my wee one gets here (which will be about early November). This kind of support is priceless, IMO.

Smiley, does this mean you're the next in line? I can't believe I'll be at that stage one of these days... It seems sooooo far off. Tell me the truth, does it drag on forever, even if you have a relatively easy pregnancy?

Well I can't seem to stay on the computer for long in the evening anymore (I get nausious) so I'll sign off.

Take care everyone,

Sylvie

Sarah: Welcome home! I'm glad to hear you didn't have to be induced, but it sure sounds like you might have an interesting story to tell. Short labor!! Yikes! You've now made me nervous! And Emma sure is a little baby. Hope everything is going well and please give us an update when you have time.....yea right, like you'll ever have extra time on your hands again .

Sylvie: I better be next or I'm going to have to do some talking to somebody. I don't believe anyone is due too soon, so since I don't want to see any early arrivals, I had better be next!!! Personally, my first pregnancy did not drag on forever, I felt great the whole nine months, I even worked up until the day I delivered. I think that's why I was so willing to have another so soon. BUT, I must admit, the second time around hasn't been as easy. I'm bigger, I'm more sore and I'm definitely more tired. But, I'm still happy. I admit to counting the days much more closely this time though.

Hi Lisa!! Thanks for popping in. I've been lurking over there on your thread too, I look forward to joining you, although I'm not looking forward to the sleepless nights again.

Hello all!

Congratulations Supportinghubby!! Welcome Emma! You share my dhs bday.

here is my birth story

Well I think I should start with the day before he was born.

Saturday March 22
I didn't feel any different, but I guess looking back I was nesting. I got up and made breakfast, then went to target to buy some new shoes cause everything I owned was tight and I didn't want to spend a ton on a pair of shoes I was going to wear for a month. So while there I went ahead and bought a bunch of tolietries so that I wouldn't have to go out again when I was really waddling.
Had washed my sheets and was putting them on the bed and I had bought a matress protector so I put that on, but DH came in and said that he didn't want that on there so I ended up just putting some towels down on my side.
DH and I then took a trial run to the hospital so that he would know how to get there, our tour wasn't going to be for another two weeks. Went to dinner with some friends then came home and watched tv. Well, I couldn't concentrate on tv so I decided to go though all the gifts/clothes I had recieved. I was going through everything to see what I had to much of/not enough etc.
Go to bed around 1 and woke up three times to go to the bathroom.

Sunday March 23rd.
7:30 woke up to my fluid gushing out of me.
Called my dr. his answering service said he was on vacation so I called the doc on call he asked if I was having contractions I said no and he said to come in when I was.
Took shower then decided to do a load of laundry for the baby cause I hadn't washed anything.
Called mom, SIL, dad/stepmom, inlaws.
10:00, MIL called and wanted to know if they should come up, I said yes, cause Mark was still in bed and I felt I needed some female support.
10:20, doc calls and tells me to come on to hospital.
Dh is still asleep so I get him up so he can take a shower and I pack my bag.
noon, arrive at hospital, fill out forms answere a lot of questions, change into gown.
1:00 doc comes in and checks me, I am 1cm dialated and I do not remember any other numbers. They decided to put cervidil in to "soften " me. Then they plan to start pitocin the next morning.
Inlaws arrive.
1:45, put the cirvidil in, and DH leaves to go get food.
2:30 DH is back and I am having contractions.
3 somthing, contractions hurt so bad, they check me and I am at 3 cm they give me a shot of something to help the pain, it didn't help, just made me sleepy.
Contractions are hurting realllllllly bad and coming fast and hard. They check me again I am at 6 cm, they call for an epidural, he comes around six and puts it in, after he puts it in I have another hard contraction and felt the urge to push, then relief. Doc checks me and I am at 9.
7:30 start pushing, gets nowhere so they start pitocin.
9ish, start pushing again, finally starts to move, gets stuck on pelvic bone. Was hoping to have him by 10. At 10:43 he decided to come out. He wanted the same birthday as his grandpa on my side.
They put him on my tummy, DH cut the cord then they took him away to check h im out then took him right down to the special care nursery. Oh yeah, I had an episssiomity too, I don't think I needed one, but the doc was old and I have a feeling does them routienly.

I go to see him at about 1:30 then they take me to my room. DH and MIL leave to go home, and I get up early like 5:30 and go see him. His head was already pretty much normal.
He was hooked up to a lot of machines and an IV. I saw that he had lots of hair and the slate blue eyes.

We named him later that afternoon.

Ended up staying at the hospital for 9 days due to jaundice and a bit of difficulty breathing the first few days.

Congrats Sarah and welcome baby Emma! Glad you and baby Emma are doing good.

Vickey, sounds like you had a long labor, but I know it was worth it. Glad you and Garrett are doing good, too.

Kimberly ~ OK hon, it's your turn now. I think Christine's due date is right after yours, and then mine. I will be 36 weeks on Friday, due date May 9th. If I am missing someone and there is anyone else due soon, let me know. I have preggo brain bad these days.

I had my doctor's appointment today. Since it's Masters week here in Augusta, there was only one doctor working, so I was there a while. Not to mention I had a bad bout of morning sickness while waiting to be seen. I threw up about 4 times in 30 minutes. The doctor said if it didn't stop, they would have to admit me to give me fluids. Finally it stopped after sipping on some gingerale.

The also did a Group B Strep test. The doctor didn't really explain what it was (he wasn't feeling well either). Does anyone know what that is? Sorry for sounding like a dummy, but I just don't know.

Well, I've rambled enough. I'll CBL!

Hi Lee !!

sjoy: my very first appointment involved the basics that you can expect everyvisit, such as weight and blood pressure and discussion of symptoms. My doctor asked me about the family medical history on both sides. He'll give you a due date based on the date of your last period and You will also most likely have a pap smear test. (This is my most least favorite part of all of my visits!!) If you have any questions, I strongly recommend you write them down and have them ready. Like medications or diet questions. Often times, in the rush (or excitement!) of everything, we forget to ask our questions. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Swann ~ Thanks for the reply. I should have asked yesterday, but I felt so bad I just wanted to get out of there and the doctor felt bad, too, so I guess he just assumed I knew what it was.

Hi Stacy! Yes, its me.....married life is great. I am 7 weeks pregnant right now. It was a bit of a surprise for us but we are very happy! I am doing maintenance diet right now hoping to keep baby and mother healthy!

Good luck with your wedding....getting close!!

To the other pregnant mothers:

Did any of you have any alcohol before you realized you were pregnant? There are two nights I can think of that my husband and I went out to the bars before i new about the pregnancy. I am soooo worried now. Also, was drinking a cup of coffee a day!!! Should I worry?

Also, do you know about how long you have to be pregnant before a pregnancy test comes back positive? I took two in mid march and they both came back negative...hence the bar nights. Then last wednesday one came back positive for the first time. Could I really be 7 weeks and the test only came back positive after 6 weeks? i think the doctors are wrong. I don't think I am that far along.

Hi Sjoy,

Don't worry about what you drank before you found out. I did the same - was on a business trip before I found out and had about 2 cups of coffee and 2 glasses of wine per day all that week. I was told not to stress over it, so I'm not.

Your due date is actually calculated as of the first day of your last period, so in theory, you were actually about 2 weeks pregnant before you even conceived! So if the docs say you're 7 weeks, you may only have conceived about 5 weeks ago. When you took the test in mid-March, I'm guessing you were probably not far along enough for it to register. HTH!

sjoy: Definitely don't worry about the alchohol. I too had a night out on the town when I first conceived but didn't know it. I'm a firm believer that any type of early miscarraige or deformity is caused by genetics or abnormal cells, not due to any of our own doing. If, god forbid, something should ever be wrong with your child, I'm sure that one or two nights out with alchohol during the first few days after conception did not cause the harm. (Now, if you told me that you were smoking crack cocaine, I'd have a different opinion).

Good luck Lowcarbinmomma. We look forward to having you join our group. (and I pray I'm not part of it by then )

Nothing at all new here. I'm not any more dilated and I'm not having any strong contractions. I am going to the Cubs game tomorrow with my husband, so if you hear of a woman delivering at the stadium, that would be me. I'm just trying to keep my schedule filled up to get the days to pass. This weekend is suppose to be beautiful weather in Chicago, so that will definitely help.

Hello ladies! Happy Friday!

lowcarbinmama ~ Congrats and good luck with your upcoming wedding. I got married last July and was fortunate enough to get pregnant in August. So it is possible to get pregnant right away. I got off the pill about two months before we got married because we wanted to start ttc right away, too.

sjoy ~ It would be cool if your baby came on November 12th. That's my birthday!

smiley ~ I know you're ready, so I hope it happens soon. I guess if we don't hear from you for a few days, we'll know why!

Well, I am 36 weeks as of today. I can't believe I only have 4 weeks left! Well, maybe more if I'm overdue. You never know. We have another baby shower tomorrow, so I am excited about that, too.

I guess I've rambled enough for now. I'll CBL!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I have been MIA.....just been busy!
Congrats to our new moms!!!!!! And those that are about to deliver!!! And those who have just found out they are expecting! We are getting quite a crew on here!!
To update my latest develpments......I had an ultrasound last Wednesday and it was awesome!!!! I measured 11weeks, 6 days and the baby's heartbeat was 160 bpm! S/he was moving all around, dancing, hicupping and waving! DH was such a proud papa.....he said...."that profile is the same as mine!!" We got to watch the babe moving around for almost 15 minutes! And we got 5 minutes of video! It is soooo cool! I didn't know if they would video for us, but took a blank tape just in case! I'm glad we did! The baby is 6.2 cm from head to rump which is about 2 1/2 inches long. When s/he stretched out s/he was measuring at 13weeks! DH hopes this is a tall volleyball player!!
He is a volleyball coach! It was pretty surreal to see all of that movement going on inside of me and not feeling a bit of it! I have thought I felt a little bit of movement once when my bladder was pretty full. But, It could have been my imagination or wishful thinking.....it's still pretty early to be feeling movement I think.
I am just so excited....I have never gotten this far in a pregnancy! Thank you God!
Anyway....that is my update...I am in maternity clothing and am feeling well. I seem to be getting a little of my energy back! I actually stayed awake until 10pm last night! I had been hitting the hay around 8:45-9pm most night this week. Some of that was probably due to the time change also.
I hope you are all doing well!
Cecilia

Wow, I feel so much better reading this also. I had two nights where I drank alcohol. I was doing the ovulation sticks and nothing ever showed, so I thought I wasn't even ovulating. So I drank twice, smoked and had coffee everyday. I have had a dark cloud over me since I found out I was pregnant this last Sunday.

This kinda makes me feel better!

Diane: Definitely put the whole thing out of your mind. Your baby is going to be perfectly fine. Good luck.

Cecelia: I love reading your updates. I can "feel" how excited you are about your wee one! It is just an amazing and awesome miracle.

I didn't deliver at the Cubs game, not even a single contraction. My back is sore from sitting all day both at the game and in the car. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Evening ladies. Wow, I think this is the first time we made it to page 2.

Cecilia, glad to hear from you. I'm so glad that everything is going good.

Kimberly~Hang in there hon. You're almost there.

Well, we had our second baby shower today. I tell ya one thing, I am gonna have a very well dressed child! We got so many clothes. And not just newborn. We got a good variety of sizes, from newborn to 18 months! I have definately gotta start washing baby clothes.

DH surpsied me last night. He went out running errands and came home with a travel system (the car seat/stroller combination) and a cradle swing. Of course, I made him go ahead and put everything together. I have been so excited and anxious lately. The baby's room is ready, and I even have my bag packed for the hospital, and I still have four more weeks until my due date! I guess you can call me an organization freak. I always like to be prepared ahead of time.

Hope everyone is doing well. Talk to y'all later!

Birth Story

OK here it goes .

I tech went into labor Friday the 4th at 12:15 am . I started having some hard contractions and was waking up every few mins to go potty . I just thought they were nothing really . Finially they kept me awake. Around 5 am I got up ate breakfest took a shower checked in here and got hubby and our son ready .
When we got to the hospital I was 3cm dilated and 75% effaced . The doctor kept me on the monitors for 1 hour to check Emma and my contractions . Then we walked the hospital for another 2 hours and came back . I had no change So they sent me home. A little while later hubby got called back into work . At 4 pm the time he gets off the phone rang and it was my doctor . He said everytime i was having a contractions my blood presure was going up . He wanted me to come back in and be monitored agian . He also had told me he had expected to see me there already with a baby ..lol
At 6pm we arrive there to find out I was 4 cm diliated but now only 60% effaced . Emma was climbing upwards . My contractions were harder at this point but not hard enough for pain meds . The doctor decided to keep me over nihgt and said i should have emma by the morning and if not that he would come in a break my water .
Well at midnight I fell alseep and by 6am I was having no contractions what so ever The doctor came in and checked me and i was still 4 cm and now was about 45 % effaced .
He decided to start pictions on me and try to break my water in a little bit . He came back at 9 am only to find out i was still not changing and the contractions were not really picking up . He upped my dose and told the nurse to up it every 20 mins. So she did that till 11 am . Still the pains were not horiable . At 11:30 I told hubby to get a nurse and find out why they had not upped the meds in a while . at 11:50 her and the doctor come in and check me . I was still 4cm but now about 90% effaced so he broke my water . I lasted 25 mins with no meds at 12:15 they came in and gave me some meds a half of dose of something that makes you drowsy . It did not help at all . The conttraction at this point were so bad i was crying threw them At 12:50 I told hubby i had to push , the nurse came in and said i was a 5 . About 6 mins later i told hubby agian I have to push they came in agian and said I was a 7 . At 1:07 I said i had to push yet agian ! This time the nurse was walking in the room . She asked me to stop . I turned on my side trying to hold her in and the nurse came over to check me and saw emmas head . I kept saying sorry sorry . I felt horiable . They press the call botton and told another nurse to come in and get the doctor . To say the least that nurse dilivered me . The doctor walked in about 5 mins after Emma was out .

I bearly tore at all and emma was given to me when the doc was putting the few stiches in me . She started to nurse right off like a champ . Me daddy and david all fell in love with her . She is just so perfect !
