Hi girls,
Glad to see you get us started Dawn!

Sarah, only one week and one day, Yikes!! I am so excited for you. Hope everything goes smoothly. I'm sure your shower will be exciting, then your husband can spend the rest of the day putting together stuff!

I'm going out to pick out an Easter dress for Melissa, I can't leave my husband in charge or he'll come home with something I hate. I've tried to schedule something for us to do each day this week because I, too, feel like time is just crawling by. My ultrasound and appoinment is Thursday, so I'll keep you all informed.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Good afternoon ladies!

Dawn ~ I'm glad everything is going good with you.

Sarah ~ One more week!? I guess you will be next. At least you know when you baby is coming, unlike me, who will probably go over-LOL! I hope your induction goes well.

smiley ~ Glad you're doing good as well. You haven't got much longer either.

As for me, time seems to be flying by! That's a good thing though, because I am so anxious to see my little angel and to hold her. It's hard to believe I am 34w3d now!

I had my first baby shower on Saturday, which was given by my sister. It was really fun and I got a lot of nice things for the nursery and clothes for the baby. She came up with some creative (and not corny) games, too. We had a blast. My SIL is throwing me another shower on April 12th. That one will be twice as big, as my DH's family is much larger than mine.

Well, I've rambled enough. Hi to those who follow!

Susan

Hi everyone! I am soooo tired. Am I the only one with no energy! PG women really should not be allowed to work the last month. Well, about 2.5 wks of work left, if I can last that long.

We went to the ob yesterday and he told me that I am measuring 38wks. I will not be 36 wks until Thursday. Loooks like it may be a big boy! However, I am very short and maybe there is not more room for the baby......and that is why I am measuring so big?????

Take care!

Susie: Game showers are so much fun. My one shower with Melissa was really formal and kind of stuffy. My MIL is kind of "stuffy", so I never had much fun at my shower. I'm always glad to go to a small entertaining shower. Hope you have this weekend too.

Christine: I can't believe you are 36 weeks!! That is just awesome. Remember when we had our own TTC thread? I'm sure you are measuring big because you are on the "small stature" side. I always looked kind of small because I'm so tall (5;8").

Sarah: Your bound to be in labor today with all that cleaning under your belt. Good luck at your appoinment.

I'm really really sore today, my pelvis feels like it's broken. I'm glad that you can't be pregnant forever! The weather here in Chicago has been just awesome the last few days and it has really helped with my mood and Melissa has loved to play outside. HOpe spring is here to stay.

Good morning ladies!

I can now become an official member of the "swollen hands and feet" club. My fingers look like little sausages and my ankles and feet, let's just say they don't even resemble mine. I guess it's time to start guzzling water. That's the only cure I know of. I was expecting this since the weather has been a lot warmer here. It's supposed to be in the low 80's today. I usually swell a little bit in the summer, so it's no surprise that it's happening now.

I am so bummed because I can't wear my engagement ring or my wedding ring anymore. I think I'll go somewhere today and find a cheap ring to wear. I just feel so naked without my wedding ring.

Sorry for my whining. I'll try to post more later when I'm in a better mood. Then again, I have a dentist appointment today to fix a broken tooth, so I may not be back on today.

Hope everyone else has a great day!

Susan

Good afternoon ladies-
I had a great morning here. I had to be examined by the Life insurance nurse. I tried to tell my dh that it was not a good time, being almost 8 months pregnant, to switch life insurance companies. What a pain in the behind. The last time we did this was 12 years ago and all we had to do was give a saliva sample. This time we had to pee, give blood, weight, height and so on. I tried to explain to her that I was a "little" over my ideal weight. But she said they may charge me more because of my weight.HELLO- There is another person in me right now. Some people just don't get it. Any way, this was way more trouble then a first time O.B appointment. I hope everyone else is having a great day. It is hard to imagine that I only have a few weeks left.

hey all-
I am 30 weeks! WHoOOHOO.
We are still not in the house..they are doing the floors this week..then the appliances go in on friday then carpet and vinyl next friday THEN maybe we can get in..sigh..The floor guys almost ruined my floors..they used wood putty on them which you do not do with antique heart pine flooring! They have spent the day hand chipping it out.
I have still been battling with carbs..maybe it is the stress of moving?
Jeanie- that nurse sounds like the medics I dealt with in the military..you want to knock them in the head and say" Hello?"
S.Hubby- you are really right down to the wire! I know it will all go great
Susan- Besides water, up your protein intake a little that should help with the retention.
Everyone else...HI!

Good morning ladies!

I had my first appointment with my midwife yesterday. She's absolutely wonderful, as is the student assisting her. The 6 vials of blood they drew wasn't as pleasant, but what can I say, I'm a woos. Brian (DBF) came with me and we actually heard the baby's heartbeat!!! That was awesome, even though it only lasted a few seconds. I started giggling (some cry, I giggle) and she couldn't find it again after calmed down. We scheduled an U/S for early June, at 18 weeks. Brian and I now have to struggle with the decision of whether or not to go for the triple screen test, since 1) I'm 37 and 2) my grandmother had a baby with Down's syndrome when she was over 40. The thought of an amnio scares me, so I don't know what I would do if the screening test came back positive. And I'm not sure I could even consider terminating the pregnancy if something was wrong. I'm leaning towards letting nature take its course. Yikes, lots to think about.

Sarah, how exciting! You'll have your sweet baby in your arms in no time now.

Marye, you must be looking forward to settling into the new house. Are you living out of half-packed boxes yet?

With all this talk of showers, it got me realizing how much I'll appreciate mine! I've been looking at all the nursery furniture, strollers, chairs, car seats, play pens and the like and can't imagine coming up with the money to buy everything new. We'll have to investigate second-hand options. It makes more sense to me anyways. I can't imagine baby furniture would get that banged up?

Well, time for me to get to work. Thanks for listening to my rambling and have a great day!

>>Marye, you must be looking forward to settling into the new house. Are you living out of half-packed boxes yet
Nope..The new house is only four miles away so once they have the floors refinished and varnished we will move one room at a time. We still don't have a buyer on this one so we are in no hurry. I am looking forward to getting settled..I have a wide veranda across the whole front of the house, shaded by huge old pecan trees, and the house is set far back from a country road. It is still cool enough to spend the last few weeks of my pregnancy sitting on the porch, watching the kids play on the swingset and doing some hand sewing or knitting!
About the amnio...many may disagree but here is my very humble opinion....to me it wouldn't matter if that baby was SEVERELY down's...I would not abort...so, knowing that abortion is not an option for me I don't haev the testing. The tests are never 100 percent accurate and they cannot tell HOW severe down's is anyway. I will pray for you to be able to know your mind clearly.. I will be 43 when this baby is born and I think that doctors (and even midwives someties) like to over stress the risks of being ancient and pregnant.
I bought a ton of onesies on ebay yesterday..so I am all set there. I bought the fabric for the baby's diapers, I have boy diapers but no girl ones so I am looking forward to sewing soon! I make the fitted diapers with fleece because I love them. SO soft, so absorbant, so CUTE.
I have a ton of things to do today-groceries, school with the kids and teaching ladies ministry tonight ...hope everyone has a good day!

Hi everyone! I'm 26 years old, just married in August and I just found out that I am pregnant and am hoping to become a part of your thread here!

Recently lost 24 lbs on Atkins and have started maintenance this week. Basically, I am going to continue my normal low carb way of eating but I am adding in fruit, more veggies, a slice of whole grain Natural Ovens bread w/ fruit spread in the morning, and skim milk...and of course, water water water. I usually drink about 72 oz a day.

I am sooo excited! 2 home tests came back positive yesterday and I see my doctor on Wednesday to confirm the results. My husband and I were a little surprised so I am glad I've been taking the prenatal (just to be safe) vitamins since December!

Hello all!!

Well I am happy to say that I am home with Baby Garrett!!!

I was due on April 24 but Garrett decided he wanted to be born on his grandpa's birthday of march 23. So, 5 weeks early.

He had to stay in the special care nursery for 9 days.

We are home now. Dh is also home for the week so I do not get much time on here, and I probably won't be back on till Monday so I will try to catch up then and post my birth story. Untill then here are his stats:

Garrett Walter
6 lb 2 oz
18.5 inches
March 23, 2003.

Yipee!!! Our first birth in a while! Congrats to you Vickey and welcome to the world Garrett. I'm glad to hear that you are home and healthy. Take your time to recover and then fill us in on all the details. I'm sure it must have been scary having baby Garrett so early.

Sarah: looks like we lost the race! I'm pretty sure that your next, good luck this week.

I had my check up and growth ultrasound yesterday. Everything went well. The baby is still measuring a little small in the belly and large in the head, but she/he's grown well over the last two weeks, so we are just going to keep waiting for his/her arrival. I almost broke down and asked the u/s tech to tell me the sex, since my husband wasn't there, but I'm not sure if I would be able to keep my mouth shut for two weeks. I'm a blabbermouth!

Welcome sjoy! Congrats on your pregnancy (and your marraige) and I'm glad you found us here. Your diet sounds exactly perfect! Good luck. I see your in Chicagoland too, are you in the city? or a suburb? I'm in a south suburb, near Orland Park. I grew up down here and I love it. My husband works at the CHicago Mercantile Exchange downtown. I'll be delivering at Ingalls Hospital, it's small and not in the best neighborhood, but it is really good. Do you know where you plan to deliver?

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm so happy to see such a large group of us ladies. Nobody better disappear!!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Kimberly,

I live downtown with my husband....shop at Orland Square sometimes. I am going to deliver at Northwestern Memorial as that is where my sister in law delv'd last December. We have the same doctor and she got excellent care there.

First doctor's appt is on Wednesday. I am a little nervous!

Have a great weekend everyone!
