Monday Pregnancy Thread - 2/3/03

Good Morning all you expecting ladies!

I had a pretty busy weekend this weekend with DH being back from his trip. We had a lot of running around to do... We are trying to get comfortable with the thought of telling family in a week or so, but I think he's more afraid of telling them and then something happeneing to our baby and having to go through the grieving with everyone instead of just between us... (did that make sense). I think he feels so strongly about this because when he and his ex-wife found out they were pregnant for the first time, they told EVERYONE right away (she was 7 weeks) and then she had a miscarriage and he said it was devestating to have to tell EVERYONE you told that you miscarried. So I think he's doing it as a protection thing more than anything else... I know he's excited, but he's scared for us as well. He keeps saying "Let's wait till after your doctor's appoinment." "Let's make sure everything is OK."

I found out this morning that I can add apples to my food aversion list... right in... and right OUT!!! (Just like the chinese I tried last week.) Are there any foods that you DEFINITELY CAN NOT eat or keep down?

As for breastfeeding, I'm definitely doing it. I think my main reason is because it is said to be so much more healthy for the baby and gives them better immunes and protection. My dilema is that I'm also going to be going back to work realitively soon after the baby is here... so I'll definitely be getting a good pump! I'm going to be doing some research on this in the coming months...

Hope you all had a great weekend. Sorry I didn't get out to post these last two days, but things were really busy around here...

Take care and stay healthy and happy!!!

Morning All!!
Doing pretty good here. I'm still in shock from finding out we're having a boy. Even though I already had a feeling it was a boy I'd always pictured us has having a houseful of girls for some reason.
Oh well just have to rethink a little. And do lots of shopping.
We found after moving and loaning stuff we didn't have a whole lot of unisex clothing left from DD so we're having to buy a lot more than originally planned.
We usually go out to eat after appointments and I just have what ever I've been wanting during the month since the last one. Unfortunately this last cheat turned into a 3 day cheat. So, I'm trying to get back on track today. But I can already tell it's going to be tough. UGH!!!
That's pretty much it for now. I've gotta run and get some laundry done. It seems to be taking over the house lately. LOL
Take Care!!!

Wow busy busy weekend . We have a nurse comming into today to see if there is anything she can help me with. So I cleaned all weekend so the house was not a mess with a nurse comming in . Hubby helped alot though so it was nice . Plus we took long breaks inbetween witch also help. At 30 weeks you seem to get more and more tired everyday !
The the other part of my weekend was spent comparing prices sizes colors brands for cloth diapers . I made a huge spread sheet and i am hoping to get into it today to try to finish it up . Lots of work but i want to buy the diapers with Tax money so i need to be ready or eles the money will get spent on other things and we will not have any diapers...lol

Anyone intrested in the "pump in style" brestpump e-mail me and i will give you a site that sells it between 170-180.00 its a canadian site so it depends what the exchange rate is when you buy the pump . Thats who i plan on going threw after i make sure you can't get it any cheaper on e-bay . I am buying that with tax money also.

I brestfeed my son and it waas the best experience i had . I actrully did not stop till 26 monthes old . And we only stoped then cause i went to Korea for 3 weeks to visit hubby so i weaned him befor i left . It was one of sadest things . That was harder on me then potty trianing and prob be harder then his first day at kindergarden (if we are not still homeschooling) . So i def plan on brestfeeding this baby and I won't give up without a fight . Actrully knock on wood but my son was very easy I slept threw the first time he nursed . ( they gave me a sleeping med 15 mins befor i dilivered ) and 1 hour afterwards i was still sleeping so they put him up to my brest and he took over ...lol So i was one of those lucky onse .. just hope Emma catches on as fast .

Ok enough of my gabbing better get to my spread sheet . Have a healthy day everyone and i will check back in tonight .

Good morning ladies,

We had a pretty good weekend here. It has been really nice, so we got out in the yard and took care of some long overdue yard maintenance (raking leaves, cleaning etc) It was nice, and I am not too sore this morning. We are getting our privacy fence replaced soon, so it was nice to get everything in order. We also went to lowes and ordered our new front door. We've wanted to replace the existing one since we moved in two years ago. It just takes a while to get to some of these projects. So, our weekend was kind of busy, but it feels good to get some stuff done.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hi Ladies,
Sounds like we all had a very nice weekend. I'm happy to see that many of us plan to at least try and breastfeed. It is still quite common among my real life friends to just go straight to formula. Again, I don't want anyone to be offended, I just want to encourage everyone to TRY IT! There's nothing to be afraid of. It's not "naughty" or anything.

I'm also glad to see people recommending the Medela Pump in Style. I just did an ebay search and there are brand new sealed pumps on sale there for $200. Supportinghubby mentioned a canadian website, anyone interested should check that out, but if you can't ship to the US or there is some conversion difficulty, I'd strongly recommmend buying from ebay. This same pump goes for $320 at Babies R Us. I've also heard great things about the manual Avent Isis.

Supportinghubby, I'm excited to have a "due date" buddy. We are due so close to each other, I'll race you there!! I'm also getting more and more tired, I've already started getting pelvic pain too, Yikes. I honestly was still really comfortable in my body until the day I delivered Melissa, I think that is why I've been kind of bummed lately. I know I still have a lot of growing to do. A girlfrined of mine was over this morning and said I looked great and couldn't believe that I already weigh what I weighed when I delivered Melissa. She was really supportive and nice and it made me feel good. I'm actaully really glad she said that.

I have my 30 week appointment on Thursday. I think I'll start going to see the OB every two weeks. I'm glad it is finally February, I can actually say with confidence that I am due in two months!!

Good afternoon everyone,

I too had a busy weekend. All is well. I'm still feeling good. No sign of morning sickness (yeah!!). Unfortunately, lowcarbing is so far out the window, it's out of sight. Oh well, I gain what I gain and I'll deal with it later. I had a hard time zipping up my pants today. They fit over my hips fine, it's just the tummy part that I had trouble stuffing in.

I plan on breastfeeding too! Hey supportinghubby, I'm interested in the website for the pump ... I'm in Canada.

Take care of yourselves everyone!

Happy monday all! Well, sounds like everyone is finally doing well!
I didnt' do much over the weekend, it was raining and snowing here, so I went grocery shopping and then went to babies r us yesterday but didnt' get anything. I am looking for my furniture, but I really don't like what they have, I think that it is overpriced for the quality. Maybe I am just to picky, but when you are in the military you have to think more about how many moves it will last.

As for breastfeeding, I have no doubt that I will be doing it. I am reading the womanly art of breastfeeding and am planning on going to a couple of Le Leche League meetings before my due date. I am not buying a pump untill after the baby comes and I for sure have to go back to work. I would prefer my baby to never be given the bottle, but, if I do have to work then I guess I have to deal with it. I am actually very afraid of delivering and them giving the baby formula with out my knowing. I will express these concerns to the doc when the time is closer.

I've had worries about that too... in reading that it makes them more resistant to "the real thing" because they have to work harder to get the milk...

I'm definitely going to have a Birth Plan that states that the baby NOT be given ANY TYPE OF BOTTLE and he/she should be brought to me for every feeding... (Still contemplating on the rooming-in option...)

And - WOW , I don't know why, but the price of the pumps SHOCKED me... wasn't expecting them to be quite that much!

Oh - MARBEL - Today is the first day I had to do some creative buttoning of my work pants. I had to saftey pin them (last week they were fine). They were just uncomfortably tight. I would have felt like I was squishing the baby if I didn't give them some room!

This is what I was told to do with my pants at the begining. Get a ruber band or hair tie and loop it through your button hole then fasten that around the button, works great and gives you some extra room!

Hey that sounds like a good trick. I'm going to have to try it on Wednesday at my obgyn appointment. I was wondering if I would have to go in my sweatpants because the thought of sitting in the waiting room for two hours stuffed into my regular pants is really unappealing! (lord knows I do love my sweats though)

BTW for anyone who missed it, Lisa (Momof2girls) posted a comparison of two breast pumps on the Pregnancy thread - weekend edition. I had to chuckle at the following statement: "Both companies have made several changes to these professional grade pumps ..." ... professional grade? For what profession?
I was looking at the Avent Isis manual pump ... looks interesting, and much cheaper than an electric pump.

Has anyone else experienced... um... how do I put this w/o blushing... an extremely large increase in breast size???

Reason I'm asking... I went from a 36B to 36D in about two weeks!! I had to go buy a bigger bra this weekend and it was two cup sized bigger!!!

At this rate, they are going to be big enough to feed the whole neighborhood!!!

Hi everyone! Well, it is Monday!!! I feel pretty tired today. We also had a busy wkend. DH started cutting and painting the chair molding for the nursery. I can't wait to see it done.

We also celebrated our birthdays this wkend. Saturday nite we went out for a nice, big juicy steak.

Oh, I failed the 1 hour glucose screen. I only sleep 2 hours the nite before (anxious and stressing out) so I think that might have skewed my results. I got a 142 and the cut off is 140. I have to go for the 3 hour tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Oh, I know a few ladies that have the Medela PIS and love it. I was planning on getting the Isis but have since changed my mind and will be gettting the PIS. My Dr. is going to write a prescription for me to see if I can get the sales tax exempt. Has anyone ever tried this. Needless to say, I would be interested in the Canadain website.

Well, better get going. I need to get a good nite's sleep tonite.
