Thanks for starting the new thread Susan.
I had my ultrasound today, and it's a boy! I was kind of hoping for a girl, but we are just happy that the baby looks good, healthy and in the appropriate size and weight range for his age. I had my OB appt right after the ultrasound, so I know everything with me is going well also. I did have one little scare, the nurse took my pressure, and said it was high I think it was like 145ish over 90 something. I have never had high blood pressure, it is normally on the low end of the normal range. My doc retook the pressure and it was fine. She said that this particular nurse had more frequent false high readings. I feel much better about that now. I also have not gained anything yet according to the Dr. scales. I'm 17 weeks and can only hope this continues. I am not dieting, just trying to make the best choices I can. I am nowhere near maintenance levels of carbs, but I'm okay with that. I do seem to have fluid retention issues already. I have had swollen feet and fingers a few times. I've also seen some scale fluctuations due to the water retention.

Good morning ladies!
I'm still feeling good. I took Marye's suggestion and took my prenatal vitamin before bed with a little sliced turkey. I think that's going to work out fine since I wasn't aware of any stomach aches as I was when I would take it during the day. Thanks Marye. I had two nightmares last night which is unusual for me. I've read that dreams are more vivid when you're pregnant. Obgyn appt is next week. I'll be 7 weeks along. Have a great day! Mare 38 yrs old, first pregnancy EDD 9/25 |

Hi there...I posted on the other thread last night... but wanted to come here...!!!
Hi everyone...
I did all the tests this weekend, and had labs done at the OB yesterday and... I'M PREGNANT!!! This is my husband and I's first baby (he has two from a previous marriage that do not live with us.) and we never really thought we wanted one of our own, but when we took the test and it was positive... we did a lot of talking and decided that we are really happy about the baby! We haven't told friends or family yet, as its still early and we are so afraid of losing the pregnancy. So we are going to wait a couple more weeks to tell anyone... Oh, I'm somewhere between 6-8 weeks along, and the reason I'm not exactly sure is because I have reallystrange periods and in December I had two! So the Dr. wants to wait until my appointment next week to get a better sense of what is going on and how far along I am. I've calculated that I'll be due in Mid-Late September. (Oh, gawd a summer trimester!!! )I can say that I have HORRIBLE morning sickness that lasts all day and all night!!! I was up 4 times last night throwing up and dry heaving! It was like everytime I moved I felt sick! I was 1/2 hour late for work this morning because I couldn't stop heaving... As of this past weekend I changed my diet to include more fruits and veggies, but due to the nausa I've had to have some crackers and toast to settle my tummy... and the ocassional bowl of oatmeal to get something solid in me... But I am trying to do the best with keeping healthy foods around me as possible. Trying not to get sucked into the sweets and junk food. So far so good!!! ![]() I will definitely be checking in with you all here on these threads as not having any family down here and not telling them for another couple of weeks is going to be killing me!!! I want someone to talk with and share all of my excitement and worries with!!! Anyway, take care... ![]() |

Good morning everyone!
Dawn ~ Congrats on your healthy baby boy! I'm so glad everything was ok. Marbel ~ I meant to mention yesterday the same thing Marye said about taking the prenatals at night. That's what I do, also. It seems to work very well. GaPreg ~ Congrats on your pregnancy. Sorry you are so sick. I would suggest that if it doesn't get any better to call your doc and see if there is something you can take for it. You don't want to get dehydrated. I didn't have morning sickness, but I can imagine how awful it must be. I read on the other thread that you are posting right now under an anonymous name. I have to admit that curiosity has the best of me and I can't help but wonder who you really are. Just nosy I guess! Hee hee! Take care everyone. I'll check back in later! Susan |

Hey!!!
Sorry my postings are so irratic but it's pretty much the same old same old lately. I'm doing pretty good so far. My appointment is on Thursday so the closer it gets the more anxious I get. I need to learn to relax or my BP will be up and I don't want them freaking out over it. After being kind of willy nilly about the low carb because of the extreme morning sickness I'm finally back on track. And I feel sooooo much better now that I'm eating correctly. I just wish I could have been doing it the whole time with no breaks. Would have helped with the initial weight gain. Although I do know it didn't help that we were on vacation and the in-laws live on the water. Being near water always makes me feel like I'm starving. Must be all that fresh air. LOL Congrats on all the new pregnancies!!!! And Dawn congrats on the baby boy!!! That would be funny if we are due around the same time both with boys and having the same name. I guess we'll find out in a couple days. Well, gotta go and start thinking about what to fix for lunch. Take Care All!!! Dawn |

I think I have my first official "pregnancy craving" --- BLT on wheat toast with cheese and mayo.
I had this yesterday for lunch to calm my tummy (the bread anyway) and that's all I've been thinking about today. Maybe because it stayed down... or at least didn't make me heave. (Maybe gag would be a better term than heave... same thing though ) I have really bad motion/car sickness... and that's what it feels like ALL the time... that queasy feeling, where you want to spit to clear your throat... YUCK!!!For breakfast I had strawberries (bout 1/2 cup) and then a pretzel stix about 9:30 to calm my stomach. I'm trying to eat every couple of hours to keep food in my stomach... and I'm drinking water like mad!!! Must be drinking about 100oz a day... and running to the potty every 5-seconds!!! The Dr. gave me a different kind of prenatal vitamin yesterday and they said it is supposed to help with the queasiness, but as of now it hasn't. And SuzieQ12...as soon as I tell my parents/friends/co-workers I'll start posting again under my usual name... I know that's wierd, but I'd hate for them to find out from me posting. I want to do it in person... and when I'm sure everything is healthy and OK!!! ![]() EDD: Mid-Late September 2003 |

GA ~ No biggie. I totally understand that you would want to tell them in person.
I have all of my family here, so everyone knew I was pregnant about 20 minutes after the HPT came up positive. I was just so excited I guess. Hope you feel better soon. |

Hello all! Well, I had my glucose test this morning. I am waiting to hear back from the dr. Hopefully it will be fine and I won't have to worry about taking the three hour one.
Supporting hubby, sounds like Iron levels to me! I had that during my first months and started taking an iron supplement and the dizziness went away! Hope that is all it is. Try adding some more spinach and red meat to your diet. GAPreg78 congratulations on your pg! You sound like I did at first. Seemed like the only protein I could choke down was in the form of a blt! Needless to say I gained alot in my first trimester. Dawn, congratulations on finding out you are having a healthy boy! I was a bit disappointed when I found out we were having a boy, but now I am thrilled. Susie, I am assuming all is going alright with you? Mare, just wait, the dreams really start coming! Two nights this past week I have dreamed about my FIL! Now why on earth would I dream about him? I don't really remember them too much, but in one I know I was trying to hide from him. so weird! I also take my prenatal at night. I always took my vit at night so I just didnt' think anything about changing the time. |

Good afternoon! I'm so happy there's a pregnancy thread here! I hang out at ParentsPlace a bit, but the BBs are *so busy* that it's too easy for your post to get "lost" in the masses.
ldybug - *GL* with the glucose results. I HATE those tests! I always get a wicked bad sugar headache afterwards. supportinghubby - I got anemic in my last pregnancy. Taking some vit. C and an iron supplement called "Gentle Iron" did wonders (and it was non-constipating/non-upsetting!). I hope you feel better soon! GAPreg78 - you know you're killing us all with curiosity . I hope your m/s passes quickly. I dread the onslaught of full-blown m/s. I wasn't nauseated today like I was yesterday, but I still have heartburn. I ONLY get heartburn when preggo - blech! BTW - I have heard that there is a chewable prenatal vitamin that is supposed to help ease m/s - is that what your dr. gave you? *GL* - I feel for you!DarkSiren - have you ever done yoga? You should do some yoga stretches & deep breaths before your appt.! *GL* on Thursday! Marbel - I get the funkiest dreams while preggo! All are vivid, some are psychadelic, and some are nightmares (the worst!). At least I'm sleeping, though, because I remember ALL too well the insomnia of the last 2 months! I can't wait to hear about your dr.'s appt. I have to wait until Feb 25th .Dawn - CONGRATS on seeing a healthy baby! I hope everything continues to go smoothly. I can't wait for my u/s - it never stops being magical seeing the little baby growing inside!!! SusieQ - Thanks for getting things started! It sounds like you're having a wonderful pregnancy. I hope you have an easy & smooth delivery, too! My youngest DD was born on May 8th - she'll be 3 this year. It's a beautiful time of year to have a baby! ![]() As for me, I'm doing better today. I'm quite tired, but at least I wasn't nauseated all day today. I subbed in the 2-yr.-old class at my daughters' preschool today, and it went well. I couldn't have done it yesterday - I KNOW the poopy diapers would have made me throw up - LOL! -Lisa (still can't believe I'm REALLY preggo!)

Hello Everyone! Would it be okay if I joined your group? I just took a HPT over the weekend and found out we are expecting. This is #2 for us as our oldest is going to be 14 in April!
Needless to say this was quite a suprize for us. I think I am still in shock. I have been doing atkins for a year now, and was mostly staying at induction levels ( I think, I never really kept track of how many carbs I ate). Since I found out this weekend I have been obviously off plan b/c of the pregnancy, and the shock! I am planning on reading the maint part of the book, as I have never read that far, but was wondering what exactly you all do as far as what you're eating. My sister is getting married in May, and I can't really afford to put on too much weight if I want to get in that dress, and I don't want to blow everyting I have worked so hard this past year trying to lose. I look forward to getting to know you all better and hearing your stories and words of wisdom. It has been a long time since I have done this, so its all new to me again. Amy (still in shock) |

! Well *CONGRATS* Amy, and welcome to our little corner here at LCFriends!Roro wrote out a nice little summary of maintenance eating for me when I posted I was preggo. Here's the link to the thread: http://www.pfangserver.com/bbs/showt...light=pregnant BTW - I'm still in shock - we just found out Sunday a.m. It will become much more real after I see my OB/GYN on Feb 25th! -Lisa |

Wow... they guys had the superbowl... and we get pregnant!!! What's up with that?!?!?!
Seems like a lot of us found out this weekend! Congrats Amy ![]() I really am glad we have this group here... What other bb's do you chat on about pregnancy? Maybe we can start a referral list for pregnancy sites? The ones I've been frequenting the most are WebMd and ParentsPlace... If I find any others I'll post those as I find them... ![]() |

Lisa,
Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good plan, I was really hoping to add more fruits, but wasn't sure exactly what or how much. I'm really looking forward to being able to eat some more fruit. It seems there was a baby boom everywhere. When I called to get into the Doctor the first one I called said they were totally booked up and could not take me and referred me to somewhere else. I called that clinic right away, and I think I got the last opening they had. They could not get me in until Feb 27th. I was a little surprized they were so busy, so I called another clinic later in the day, and they said they had a lot of calls yesterday from women who were pregnant and looking for a doctor, and they were full too. I guess december was a busy month! I do have a couple of questions for you all regarding m/s. I did not experience this with my oldest and was wondering when you could expect it, and how long does it usually last? I was reading some of your posts, and I sure hope that I don't have to go thru all of that, it sure doesn't sound very good, my heart goes out to you all. I did have a nasty spell of dizzieness the other night, and I really thought I was going to lose it, but I made it thru, and so far that is all that I have had. I'm just wondering if I haven't gotten to the point where the m/s kicks in. Please share you;re experiences. I am getting ready to leave for the evening, as I can only post at work, so I will check back with you all tomorrow. Have a good night everyone! ![]() |

Wow! So many newly pregnant women this week. Congratulations to you all, may your pregnancies be easy and uncomplicated.
I have a drs apt today with dh. He has alot of questions to ask the dr, and wants to hear the hb. I had a bit of spotting on both saturday and yesterday. Someone told me that it happens when our periods are usually due. That was the time, anywhere between the 18-28 my period would come. I have had this every month now, and even though i have heard the hb, it still is upsetting. I am starting my 5th month now, and have an ultrasound next week. 18wks, so we will be telling everyone after the ultrasound. I hope everyone has a good week. Will post again in the next couple of days to let you know how my apt was. |

Well they showed us all the little parts of the Girl so lets pray it is a girl when it comes out . I don't think my three yr old will understand if we come home with a boy and it has a diffrent name . But if it happens to become a boy then his name is Jacob franklin (after my hubby and papa). And Emma's middle name is after me, my mom ,and my grandma , we are all Rose . So we kinda do the same thing name our kids after someone in our family. Hubby still wants a boy after this one so we can have our jacob . I just really want my girl..lol (little shelfish)
I am doing a little better tonight . Although the more i sit here the more i feel sick We just had hamburgers portabella mushrooms and cheese on atkins bread with green beans . YUM YUM Hope everyone eles has a great dinner ! |

Wow, this thread sure has gotten busy this week. Congrats to all the new mommies to be. I wish you a happy and healthy nine months. With all this activity on the thread, we may have to change it to a daily thread to keep it manageable.
I'll try not to forget anyone, if I do, I am sorry. Supporting Hubby, I am glad you are feeling at least a little better. Congrats on finding out it is a girl. Christine, I haven't seen smiley in a while either. Good luck on your GTT. I hope you pass with flying colors. Marye, I hope you are feeling better before your u/s on Thursday. Jeanie, I am so jealous, I am not sleeping well at all, so I am envious of your nap. I just ordered this pregnancy air mattress today that is supposed to let me sleep on my stomach. I sure do hope it works, or I will be a walking zombie by the time I have this baby. Will be Skinny, good luck on your upcoming ultrasound. I hope that it is helpful in relieving some of your concerns. We are due about the same time, I can't believe you've been able to hold off telling everyone. I couldn't do it. Goin-LC, How far along will you be for your appt. ? I didn't have my first appointment until I was 8 weeks, and that was normal for my doc. As far as m/s goes, mine started in the 6th week, and ended about 13-14 weeks. Ldybug, I hope that you passed your GTT with flying colors. I had my blood drawn today for the AFP, triple screen, whatever you want to call it. Mom of 2 girls and GA preg 78 I hope that your nausea goes away. I had it for 6 + weeks, and just had to force myself to eat all the time to keep it manageable. Dawn, good luck at your appointment. I think it would be neat if we were both due with boys at about the same time. I hope your u/s shows a nice healthy baby. SusieQ, How are you doing? Marbel, good luck at your appointment next week. I'm glad the change has helped tolerate your vitamin better. I had a hard time with mine, my OB gave me a presciption for premesis, which is a prenatal that is supposed to hlep with nausea. It did nothing to help me. She told me it was okay if I couldn't take the vitamin and that I could take just folic acid and be okay. I did that for a few weeks until I felt better. Hopefully you won't need to do that. Wow, it looks like there are about 14-15 of us here now. We've grown dramatically. Wish me luck on getting some sleep tonight. |

Good Morning Everyone...
Well, I'm happy to say that I think I may have found a way to curb my morning sickness... last night I put a baggie of crackers next to my bed and a glass of water, and anytime I woke up during the night (which was every few hours) I would eat a cracker and drink some water. Then this morning when I hit the snooze alarm, I had another cracker, sat up in bed for a few minutes before jumping out and into the shower. I only "gagged" once, but that was NOTHING compared to the last two weeks!!! So I'm thinking (like you all said) that it is much worse when my stomach is empty... so I'm really gonna try to keep food in there...
My next goal (once DH gets back from his business trip) is to really try to do maintenance or I'm going to be gaining weight like crazy now that I think I have the nausea curbed. QUESTION: Have you told your family (parents/siblings) and friends/co-workers yet? If so, how'd you tell them? If not, what are your reasonings? For me, I haven't told anyone (execpt DH of course) because we are so scared of something happening this early on. Once I have my first appointment next week and hopefully they'll do a u/s, we'll plan on telling our parents, probably the weekend of Valentine's Day. We have to fly home to tell them... I have some ideas about how I'm going to tell them, but not really sure yet... Hope you ladies are having a happy and healthy day! ![]() |

Morning All!!
Having a nice quiet morning so far. I had been worried yesterday because I wasn't feeling the baby as much as I had been the previous days but then last night it pretty much kept me up moving. LOL So, no more worries there. GAPreg78- "QUESTION: Have you told your family (parents/siblings) and friends/co-workers yet? If so, how'd you tell them? If not, what are your reasonings? " We originally weren't going to tell anyone until the second trimester because of a previous miscarriage. But we'd been trying for more than a year before finally getting preggo and we were so excited we couldn't contain it. We went from just going to tell the grandparents to all of a sudden everyone knowing. LOL But I've never been good at keeping a secret anyway. Well, I'm going to run for now. DD is wanting to play some games and she won't be happy till we do. Talk again later!!Take Care!!! Dawn EDD: 7/02/03 |

Good morning everyone! Wow, it seems like I missed a bunch of folks last night.
I am doing pretty good. I haven't been feeling well lately. I have been nauseous a good bit and haven't had as much energy. I am guessing this has something to do with my iron being low. I go back to the doctor on Feb 6 and hopefully she can give me a supplement. I don't think I've managed to get it back to normal on my own. I also have a weird itchy rash on my ring finger. I can't wear my wedding band or engagement ring. It looks awful and nothing seems to be clearing it up. Am I just developing funky skin or could this be pregnancy related? Anyone else ever had this happen? Other than that, I am doing well. I just don't want to sound whiny and complain at the least little thing, but since y'all asked...... Oh, and the dreams, man have I had some weird ones! I had a dream last week that my dog could talk! She told me she wanted a Snickers bar and some water! How weird is that?! And then the other night I dreamed (or is it dreamt?) that my sister and I were making trips to South Georgia to buy illegal guns. Oh how I love these hormones! Well, have to go for now. I've rambled enough. Have to go relieve the secretary up front for her break. BBL! Susan |

Hello again, ladies!
Remember me? I haven't been around here for several weeks. I have been on bed rest for almost 6 wks now due to bleeding. Dr said I had several hematomas. Everything seems fine now...baby is doing great...growing and squirming away! This is going to be the most photographed baby ever...I am at 17w2d and have had 10 ultrasounds already. LOL! My last one was Monday and it looks like a girl! YAY! I haven't bled now for 2 wks and my dr said I could start getting some exercise on the treadmill. Which is a good thing because thanks to the fact that I never had a lick of morning sickness (sorry to all you ladies who are suffering) and have been on bed rest for so long (plus the fact that low carb hasn't even been in my vocabulary lately)..I have managed to gain over 15 lbs already! But it's worth it as long as the baby is ok. At least I feel reassured that I know how to get it back off after the little one is born.I'm heading off to catch up on some of the last few weeks posts...my, how this thread has grown! Glad to see you all here! Candy Age: 32 Trying to conceive for 7 yrs due to PCOS Found out I'm pregnant 10/29/02 EDD July 9 Jan 27th u/s (17 wks) looks like it's a GIRL ...woo hoo! ![]() |

Candy!!!! Nice to see you back. I wondered where you had gone. Sorry about all of your problems, but I'm glad you and the baby are alright now. I had my ultrasound three weeks ago and the tech said I am having a girl, too! I am thrilled! A boy would have been fine, too though.
Now if we could only hear from Smiley................come on girl, we're worried about ya. |
