did you have trouble with?
Any of you who lost a significant amount of weight prior to pregnancy did you have trouble not gaining insane amounts when you got pregnant?
I have lost close to 90lbs and my husband and I are now trying and I am worried that it will be hard not to gain excessive amounts in my pregnancy even though I am very good at my meal plan and have maintained this loss for about 1.5 years just curious what your experiences have been? Did you then have trouble losing pregnancy weight? thanks |

Rainypep - if you don't get responses directly in this thread, post it in the Getting Healthy for Baby thread and the Pregnancy thread. I'm not pregnant but have been watching Nik with her pregnancy and she lost almost 100 pounds pre-pregnancy and has been gaining just a tiny bit each week. I think she posted that she will have around a 25 pound gain if she keeps to her current gain rate. I hope that helps!

I gained about 60, but it was my fault. I just went nuts and let myself overeat on unhealthy foods. But, as soon as Andrew was born I starte dAtkins and lost all the weight, plus some.

I continued to eat the same (small low carb meals) except I did add saltine crackers, peanut butter & fruit. I only gained 21 lbs and 2 weeks later I lost it all. I couldn't eat eggs most of the time because the made me so nauseated so I ate oatmeal for breakfast. Most people make the mistake of thinking that they need to eat alot more because they are eating for two and thats why they gain so much weight.

Eat sanely, but, don't go all Hollywood mom and restrict your eating so much that you don't feed the baby enough! I come from a family with genetically, freakishly large babies, and I had to gain more than the 25, but the weight did come right off. (3 of my 4 boys were over 11 pounds, and the one that they took really early was over 9)

Thanks everyone for the advice! I think that I am just worried that even if I eat sanely my body will just pack on a heap of extra pounds because I gain so easily. But I exercise as well, and while I know that I will have to decrease the intensity somewhat, continued exercise will help.

Way too much time on my hands!

I was a normal weight when I got pregnant and I only gained 19 lbs during the pregnancy. I was careful about what I ate, I think I was at my healthiest when I was pregnant because I didn't eat much junk foods or processed foods. I was back to a normal weight within a few weeks of having a baby. With my second I gained a lot more weight, 29 lbs with that pregnancy. I never got back to a normal weight after that birth though and continued to gain weight until I became overweight.
